Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 (産業上の利用分野) 本発明は外科用縫合材組立体に関する。
(従来の技術) 従来、整形外科手術等において、骨と骨とを固定しよ
うとする時は、まず、図2のように骨5aと5bとに孔6を
あけ、次に、図3のように金属性ワイヤー7を通し、最
後に図4のように金属性ワイヤー7を捻ることにより、
骨を固定する方法が採用されている。従来、骨の固定に
はステンレス線のような金属性のワイヤーが使用されて
いるが、ワイヤーの破断により周囲の組織を損傷した
り、術野の狭い部分での操作が困難であったり、MRI
(核磁気共鳴)による検査の妨げになる等の欠点があ
る。また、金属性のワイヤーの代わりに合成繊維糸を用
いることが試みられているが、骨のエッジ部でエッジ破
断を発生しやすいという欠点がある。
(発明が解決しようとする課題) 本発明の課題は、合成繊維糸で骨を固定する場合に発
生するエッジ破断を予防できる外科用縫合材組立体を提
供することにある。
(課題を解決するための手段) 本発明者らは、上記課題を解決するために鋭意検討し
た結果、本発明に到達した。
すなわち、本発明は、針部1、やすり部2及び合成繊
維からなる縫合糸3をこの順序で連結してなる外科用縫
合材組立体を要旨とするものである。
以下、本発明を詳細に説明する。
図1において、本発明の外科用縫合材構成体4におけ
る針部1としては、ステンレス製等の金属針が用いられ
る。また、針部1は、合成繊維からなる縫合糸3がブレ
ード又はツイストなどのマルチフィラメントから成る場
合は、溶融又は固定剤の含浸などの方法により端部の硬
度を上げることにより、骨に開けた孔に容易に挿入でき
る針を作成する。
やすり部2は、金属性のワイヤー、単線、鎖、又はそ
れらと合成繊維と混合物からなり、骨のエッジ部を削る
に十分な硬度を有するものである。さらに、縫合糸3に
やすり部2を連結するには、溶融酸化アルミナのような
研磨用粉末を縫合糸表面に付着させてもよい。
合成繊維からなる縫合糸3としては、ポリエステル、
ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリテトラフルオロエ
チレン、ポリビニルアルコールを素材としたブレード、
ツイスト、モノフィラメントなどの繊維状物があげられ
る。
本発明の外科用縫合材組立体4を用いて、ひび割れ等
が生じた骨を固定するには、まず、図5のように骨5a及
び5bに孔6を開け、外科用縫合材組立体4の針部1を骨
に開けた孔6に通す。次に図6のように、やすり部2で
孔の周囲に生じた鋭利な骨のエッジ8を削りとる。最後
に、図7のように縫合糸3で骨5a及び5bを強固に固定
し、固定後、針部1及びやすり部2を切断する。
(実施例) 次に,本発明の外科用縫合糸組立体を実施例によって
具体的に説明する。
実施例1 重合度4000のポリビニルアルコール(PVA)を濃度が1
4.5重量%となるように、ジメチルスルホキシドに溶解
した紡糸原液をメタノール凝固浴中に乾・湿式紡糸し、
得られた未延伸糸を15.5倍熱延伸して100 d/10fのPVA繊
維束を得た。このPVA繊維束4本(400d/40f)を芯糸と
し、8本を鞘糸として組紐にして直径約0.6mmの縫合糸
を作成した。
次に、重合度1700のRVAを濃度が20重量%となるよう
に水に溶解した粘稠な溶液を調整し、この溶液を上記の
PVA縫合糸(直径的0.6mm、長さ1m)の先端10cmの部分に
含浸させた後、50〜60℃で24時間乾燥することによりPV
Aを固化させ、端部の硬度を上げた。このように作成し
た針部に隣接する20cmの部分を上記のPVA溶液により塗
布し、この上に直ちに熔融アルミナ粉末を付着させた
後、室温で24時間乾燥させて、やすり部を作成した。
このように作成した針部とこれに連結したやすり部を
有するPVA縫合糸は、針部を通じて骨に開けた孔に容易
に挿入できるとともに、やすり部で骨のエッジ部を削る
ことができた。
(発明の効果) 本発明の外科用縫合糸組立体は、針部、やすり部及び
合成繊維からなる縫合糸が連結されているので、骨の孔
に縫合糸を通し易く、また、合成繊維からなる縫合糸の
欠点であるエッジ破断の発生を防ぐことができる。
