Description of the Related Art In the above-mentioned liquid crystal sheet, in order to provide electrodes for connecting an external driving power supply to transparent conductive films on both surfaces of a liquid crystal layer, one of four sides has one transparent side. The conductive film is extended from the liquid crystal layer together with the transparent protective sheet on the same side, and a conductor serving as one electrode is attached to the transparent conductive film on the extended portion, and the transparent conductive film on the other side is the same on another side. It extends beyond the liquid crystal layer together with the transparent protective sheet on the side, and a conductor serving as the other electrode is attached to the transparent conductive film in the extended portion (these two sides are hereinafter referred to as electrode forming sides). And the remaining two
Two sides (these two sides are hereinafter referred to as electrode-free sides)
In, the transparent protective sheets on both sides, the transparent conductive films on both sides, and the liquid crystal layer are trimmed at the same position. The edges of the liquid crystal layer are protected from the outside air by coating with a sealing material on both sides where electrodes are formed and sides where no electrodes are formed. Conventionally, an epoxy resin-based or silicone resin-based liquid sealing material is applied to the entire edge of the side where the electrode is formed and the side where the electrode is not formed, and then cured to cover the edge.

There is a danger that the coating is thin and the edges are easily exposed to the outside air, and there is a danger that a part that is not sealed from the beginning exists. In addition, since a relatively long time is required from the application of the sealing material to the curing, there is a problem that the workability is poor. The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and has as its object to provide a liquid crystal sheet capable of reliably sealing an edge portion with good workability.

In a liquid crystal sheet interposed between protective sheets and having an edge covered with an insulating sealing material, the sealing material is formed in a film shape and the pair of transparent protective sheets are
Only in the outer surface opposite to the liquid crystal layer , both end edges of the sealing material are separately heat-sealed. Also, a liquid crystal layer provided on both sides with a transparent conductive film for applying a drive voltage for light transmission control is interposed between a pair of transparent protective sheets, and the transparent conductive film on one side of the liquid crystal layer is placed on the same side. wherein also extending from the liquid crystal layer with a transparent protective sheet, thereby attaching a conductor as an electrode on the transparent conductive film of the extension portion, the liquid crystal sheet coated with edge with an insulating sealing material, the sealing material film Jo to configure a front Symbol extended side and the liquid crystal layer in the transparent protective sheet on the opposite side

Since the outside air is prevented from flowing into the edge of the liquid crystal sheet at the portion where the pair of protection sheets are thermally fused to the opposite edge portions, the edge of the liquid crystal sheet can be protected from the outside air. And since both ends of the sealing material are specially heat-sealed only to the outer surfaces of the opposing edges of the pair of protective sheets, heat is applied only to the transparent protective sheet during the heat-sealing operation. Therefore, heat is not directly applied to the liquid crystal layer interposed between the protective sheets. In the electrode forming side according to the second aspect, the central portion of the film-shaped sealing material covers the edge of the liquid crystal layer with a uniform thickness and is partitioned from the outside, and both edges of the sealing material are the edge portions. By being thermally fused to the liquid crystal layer and the conductor portion, the inflow of outside air to the edge of the liquid crystal layer is blocked, so that the liquid crystal exposed surface can be protected from outside air. And since both ends of the sealing material are individually heat-sealed to the outer surface of the edge portion of the transparent protective sheet and the conductor, heat is applied only to the transparent protective sheet and the conductor during the heat-sealing operation. However, heat is not directly applied to the liquid crystal layer.

In a state where the local weakness is less likely to be caused by the sealing material, the liquid crystal layer can be more reliably sealed so that the liquid crystal layer does not directly come into contact with the outside air, and when the film-like sealing material is attached by means of heat fusion. Since the deterioration of the liquid crystal can be suppressed without directly applying heat to the liquid crystal layer, a liquid crystal sheet which can reduce the production time and improve the durability and quality can be provided.

本発明は適用できる。BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. As shown in FIG. 1, a liquid crystal sheet S of the present invention comprises a liquid crystal 1 exhibiting an electro-optical effect, a transparent conductive film 2 provided on both upper and lower outer surfaces of the liquid crystal 1 (hereinafter, a liquid crystal and a transparent conductive film are combined, and And a transparent protective sheet 4 attached to the upper and lower outer surfaces of the liquid crystal layer 3. The liquid crystal sheet S is formed in a rectangular shape, and two opposing sides of the four sides of the periphery become electrodes for applying a voltage for controlling light transmission of the liquid crystal layer 3 to the transparent conductive film 2. It is additionally provided a conductor 5 (hereinafter, referred to these sides and the electrode forming side E 1). By applying a voltage between the conductors 5, a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal 1 interposed between the transparent conductive films 2 so that external light can be transmitted. Moreover, not attaching a conductor 5 for the remaining two sides (hereinafter, referred to these sides and electrodeless side E 2). Also, with the electrode formation side E 1 and the electrode non-formation sides E 2 is, although different in its structure, there is also a structure coated with each sealing member 6 in either. As in the non-electrode side E 2 is shown in FIG. 2 are aligned cut both the upper and lower surfaces of the transparent protective sheet 4 and to the liquid crystal layer 3 at the same position, there is formed a thickness substantially uniform filmy the sealing member 6, the sealing member 6 opposite edges of the non-electrode side E the non-electrode side only by respectively heat wearing each other edge outer surface of the transparent protective sheet 4 facing the 2 E 2 of To block the inflow of outside air. Wherein in the electrode forming side E 1 as shown in FIG. 3, also extend from the liquid crystal 1 with a transparent protective sheet 4A of the same side of the transparent conductive film 2A on one side of the upper and lower surfaces, a transparent conductive film of the extension portion 7 A plate-shaped conductive member 5 serving as an electrode is provided on 2A, and a sealing material 6 formed in a film shape having a substantially uniform thickness is formed by connecting the both ends of the sealing material 6 to the extended sides. by thermally deposited only on the edge portion on the opposite side of the transparent protective sheet 4 and said conductor 5, are cut off the inflow of the outside air by covering the electrode formation side E 1.
Incidentally, in the above electrode forming side E 1 of another, although not shown, except that the other transparent conductive film 2B with a transparent protective sheet 4B of the same side are extended than that of the liquid crystal 1, a exactly the same structure ing. In the above-described embodiment, the configuration in which the electrodes are formed on the two sides of the rectangular peripheral portion and the electrodes are not formed on the remaining sides has been described. Instead, the electrodes 5 are formed on all sides. Most of the formed portions and the peripheral portions were connected to lead wires to have the same configuration as the previously described electrode non-formed side. The present invention can be applied to the liquid crystal sheet S.
