っ張りにより曲がりが生ずる事、体裁が悪いなどの欠点
がある。その他の方法として、パイプに丸鋼を差し込
み、パイプの端部と差し込んだ丸鋼を隅肉溶接する方法
がある。この方法によれば継ぎ手部の外径も小さく、最
もコンパクトなものとなるが、引っ張りに対しては溶接
部の強度が不足し、全く実用にならないと思われてい
た。本考案はその致命的欠陥を補うもので、溶接長さを
長くして十分な溶接強度を得るため、パイプの長手方向
にスリットを設け、スリットの縁と丸鋼を溶接するよう
にしたものである。スリットの分だけパイプの必用厚さ
は大きくなるが、その巾は小さいので外径もあまり大き
