Abstract

[Problem] To provide a fabric that ensures breathability and flexibility in the printed area and allows for new design expressions. Description

The present invention relates to fabrics with patterns or identification prints, which ensure breathability and flexibility in the printed areas and allow for new design expressions.

For example, various types of clothing such as T-shirts and sportswear may be printed with patterns or identification (e.g., an athlete's bib number). When printing patterns on T-shirts, etc., a known technique is to use a thermal transfer sheet made of a printed layer of a color image or the like and a thermal adhesive layer laminated together, and to thermally weld the printed layer to the fabric of the clothing using a heating means such as a heat press or iron (see, for example, Patent Document 1). Also, in order to maintain the breathability of sports clothing, a technique is known in which a fibrous hot melt adhesive is provided on the back of a mark (such as a bib number) made of a mesh material, a hot melt film is attached to the back of a border sheet to which the mark is attached, the mark is thermally welded to the fabric of the clothing using a heating means, and then the mark is integrated into the fabric by sewing (see, for example, Patent Document 2).

The present invention was made to solve the above problems, and aims to provide a fabric that ensures breathability and flexibility in the printed area, while also allowing for new design expressions.

A fabric according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to Figures 1 to 3. The fabric according to this embodiment will be described using a T-shirt as an example.
As shown in Fig. 1, a T-shirt 1, which is a garment using the fabric according to this embodiment, is composed of a single-color (white in the illustrated example) cotton shirt body 2 and a mesh sheet 4 sewn to the front of the shirt body 2. As shown in Fig. 2, the mesh sheet 4 is a fabric such as polyester mesh with a large number of mesh holes 5 formed at equal intervals, and has a rectangular shape, specifically a vertically long rectangle. The shape of the mesh sheet 4 is not limited to a rectangle, and can be any other shape. The shirt body 2 can be of any color or pattern.

As shown in FIG. 1, the mesh sheet 4 has an arbitrary design printed on the entire surface. In this embodiment, a color image of a person's photograph is printed. A conventionally known method such as inkjet printing or silk screen printing can be used to print the color image on the mesh sheet 4. The design printed on the mesh sheet 4 may be printed on the entire surface of the mesh sheet 4, or only on a part of it.

The T-shirt 1 of this embodiment is constructed by sewing a mesh sheet 4 on which a color image is printed to the front of the shirt body 2. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 1, the mesh sheet 4 has rectangular edges, i.e., four sides, sewn to the front of the shirt body 2 from the chest to the abdomen by sewing threads 3 such as polyester threads. In detail, the edges of the mesh sheet 4 are fixed to the shirt body 2, and the other parts are not fixed to the shirt body 2. Therefore, a space is formed between the mesh sheet 4 and the shirt body 2 in the parts other than the parts fixed to the shirt body 2 by the sewing threads 3, and the mesh sheet 4 is fluid with respect to the shirt body 2. Specifically, the mesh sheet 4 is partially in contact with the shirt body 2 or in a non-contact state depending on the state of the T-shirt 1. In addition, in the non-contact state, the space between the mesh sheet 4 and the shirt body 2 becomes larger or smaller. The type and material of the sewing threads 3 are not limited. Furthermore, the mesh sheet 4 can be sewn to the shirt body 2 with the sewing thread 3 by hand or by using a machine such as a sewing machine or embroidery machine.

In the T-shirt 1, the portion where the mesh sheet 4 and the shirt body 2 overlap and form a laminated state is the portion where printing is performed. Note that in this embodiment, the edge of the mesh sheet 4 is sewn to the shirt body 2, but this is not limited to the edge, and any part of the mesh sheet 4 can be sewn to the shirt body 2.

In this way, the T-shirt 1 of this embodiment is integrated with the shirt body 2 by sewing the edges of the mesh sheet 4 to the shirt body 2 without using a heat-sealing agent. Therefore, the T-shirt 1 of this embodiment does not impair the flexibility of the fabric of the shirt body 2, compared to conventional products in which a color image is printed on the shirt body 2 with a heat transfer sheet or the mesh sheet 4 is heat-sealed to the shirt body 2. Therefore, the T-shirt 1 does not become stiff in the printed areas, and the original comfort of the fabric of the shirt body 2 can be maintained.

In addition, because no thermal adhesive is used, the printed portion of the T-shirt 1 does not lose the breathability of the fabric of the shirt body 2, and can be maintained as is. Furthermore, the mesh sheet 4 itself has good breathability due to the numerous mesh holes 5, so that when the body B of a person wearing the T-shirt 1 sweats, as shown by the arrows in Figure 3, the sweat vapor is released from the shirt body 2 to the outside through the mesh holes 5, preventing the inside of the shirt body 2 from becoming stuffy, and this, combined with the flexibility described above, provides excellent comfort.

In addition, since the shirt body 2 and the mesh sheet 4 are layered in the printed portion of the T-shirt 1, the fabric of the shirt body 2 can be seen through the numerous mesh holes 5 of the mesh sheet 4. At this time, the color of the fabric of the shirt body 2 seen through the numerous mesh holes 5 is seen as a different impression from the original color of the shirt body 2. In addition, since the design printed on the mesh sheet 4 is seen against the background of the shirt body 2, it is seen as a different impression from the original design. Furthermore, as described above, since the mesh sheet 4 is fluid with respect to the shirt body 2, the design of the mesh sheet 4 and the appearance of the color of the shirt body 2 through the mesh sheet 4 change unexpectedly depending on the movement of the T-shirt 1 and the viewing angle. In this way, according to this embodiment, the mesh sheet 4 on which the design is printed can be used to layer multiple designs, i.e., to create a hierarchy, making it possible to express new designs.

As described above, according to the present embodiment, it is possible to provide a fabric that ensures breathability and flexibility in the printed area while enabling new design expressions, and clothing made from said fabric.
Furthermore, according to this embodiment, even if a large portion of the shirt body 2 is printed, the breathability and flexibility of the printed portion can be ensured as shown in Fig. 1. In other words, even if the printed portion is enlarged, the inherent breathability and flexibility of the fabric of the shirt body 2 is not lost.

In addition, if the mesh sheet 4 of the T-shirt 1 of this embodiment is made of polyester, it will be lightweight and quick-drying, and will not require edge processing, which will contribute to improved productivity.

In the present embodiment, the T-shirt 1 has a shirt body 2 in a single white color, but this is not limited and any color or pattern can be used. The material of the shirt body 2 is not limited to cotton and other materials can be used. The material of the mesh sheet 4 is also not limited and various materials can be used, such as chemical fibers such as polyester and cotton. The mesh sheet 4 may also be sewn to other parts of the shirt body 2, such as the back or sleeves. Alternatively, multiple mesh sheets 4 may be sewn to multiple places on the shirt body 2.

Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described.

The T-shirt 21 according to this embodiment is constructed in the same manner as the first embodiment, by sewing a mesh sheet 24, on which a design is printed, to the front of a shirt body 22. In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 4, a design is printed on the shirt body 22. The design can be printed on the shirt body 22 by a conventional method such as inkjet printing or silk screen printing.

In this embodiment, the design of the shirt body 22 and the design of the mesh sheet 24 are layered on top of each other, creating a unique visual effect. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 4, the shirt body 22 is designed with four skulls. Also, as shown in FIG. 6, the mesh sheet 24 sewn to the shirt body 22 is designed with four human faces. When sewing the mesh sheet 24 to the shirt body 22, as shown in FIG. 5, the mesh sheet 24 is layered on the shirt body 22 so that the four skull designs on the shirt body 22 and the four human faces on the mesh sheet 24 are layered on top of each other. With this configuration, the T-shirt 21 of this embodiment allows the design of the shirt body 22 to be seen through the numerous mesh holes 5 (see FIG. 2) in the mesh sheet 24, or the design of the mesh sheet 24 to be seen against the background of the design of the shirt body 22, so that the skull design of the shirt body 22 and the design of the person's face on the mesh sheet 24 blend together to produce a unique visual effect. Furthermore, because the mesh sheet 24 is sewn fluidly to the shirt body 22, the appearance of these designs changes in unexpected ways. As a result, the T-shirt 21 produces a more distinctive visual effect and is more design-rich than if the shirt body 22 were plain. Other effects are the same as those of the first embodiment.

In this embodiment, the part where the mesh sheet 34 is sewn to the shirt body 32 itself has a design. Specifically, a design that combines a person's upper body, multiple letters, and multiple teardrop shapes is printed on the mesh sheet 34. In this embodiment, the part where the mesh sheet 34 is sewn to the shirt body 32 with sewing thread 33 is a part that follows the edge of the mesh sheet 34 and a part that follows the shape of part of the design printed on the mesh sheet 34. In this way, a pattern is formed by sewing thread 33 by matching the portion where mesh sheet 34 is sewn to shirt body 32 with the shape of the design printed on mesh sheet 34. The pattern formed by sewing thread 33 forms the design of T-shirt 31. Moreover, sewing thread 33 can be any color. This further improves the design of the stitched portion.
In this way, this embodiment adds new value to simple sewing, i.e., the mesh sheet 34 is simply sewn to the shirt body 32, by adding design with the sewing thread 33 to the sewn part of the mesh sheet 34, thereby exerting a new effect. Furthermore, the design of the sewn part with the sewing thread 33 incorporates elements of conventional embroidery while exerting an effect different from conventional embroidery. That is, while conventional embroidery expresses a design with embroidery thread on the shirt body 32, this embodiment forms a design with the sewing thread 33 according to the shape of the design of the mesh sheet 34, so that while the design is formed with thread like conventional embroidery, the design blends with the design of the mesh sheet 34 and exerts a unique visual effect.

FIG. 8 is a front view of a main part of a T-shirt according to a second example of the third embodiment.
The T-shirt 41 of this embodiment, like the first and second embodiments, is constructed by sewing a mesh sheet 44, on which an arbitrary design is printed, to the front of a shirt body 42.

In this embodiment, a design that combines a person's face and multiple letters is printed on the mesh sheet 44. In this embodiment, the left and right edges of the mesh sheet 44 are sewn to the shirt body 42 with sewing thread 43. The sewn parts each form a zigzag pattern.

In this way, in this embodiment, the sewing thread 43 that sews the mesh sheet 44 to the shirt body 42 forms a zigzag pattern, which forms the design of the T-shirt 41. In this embodiment, the upper and lower edges of the mesh sheet 54 are sewn to the shirt body 52 with sewing thread 53. The stitched parts each form a curved pattern that follows the shape of the character design.

In this way, in this embodiment, the sewing thread 53 that sews the mesh sheet 54 to the shirt body 52 forms a curved pattern that follows the shape of the design of the text, which forms the design of the T-shirt 51.
