Abstract
Description
光表示装置に含まれたピクセルアレイを示す図である。図3は図2のピクセルアレイに含まれた一ピクセルの等価回路図である。図4はフレーム周波数を可変するためのホストシステムの構成を示す図である。図5は第Nフレーム映像の処理完了時点のメモリ制御動作を説明するための図である。そして、図6は第N+1フレーム映像を処理している時点のメモリ制御動作を説明するための図である。
図19を参照すると、ホストシステムは、レンダリング完了信号SC-FLAGをコントロールデータパケットに加工して伝送することができる。レンダリング完了信号SC-FLAGはパケットスタート信号及びパケットアンド信号によってパケッティング(packeting)されて伝送されるので、伝送過程で発生する信号歪みを最小化することができる。

Claims (18)
- 駆動素子及び発光素子を有するピクセルを備えた表示パネルと、
垂直ブランク期間の長さを変化させながら前記ピクセルに書き込まれる映像データをレンダリングし、レンダリングされた前記映像データに先立ってレンダリング完了信号を出力するホストシステムと、
前記垂直ブランク期間内で前記レンダリング完了信号を基準にセンシング期間を設定するタイミングコントローラと、
前記センシング期間で前記駆動素子の電気的特性をセンシングするセンシング回路と、を含み、
前記センシング期間は前記垂直ブランク期間の終了時点から一定時間だけ先立つ第1タイミングで始まり、前記一定時間の長さは前記垂直ブランク期間の長さ変化に関係なく固定されている、表示装置。 - 前記ホストシステムは、
一フレーム内でデータイネーブル信号がパルシング(pulsing)される垂直アクティブ期間の長さを固定し、
前記一フレーム内で前記データイネーブル信号がノンパルシング(non-pulsing)される前記垂直ブランク期間の長さを可変する、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記センシング期間は、前記第1タイミングに同期する前記レンダリング完了信号のパルシングエッジを基準に設定される、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記垂直アクティブ期間内でディスプレイ駆動のための第1データ電圧及び前記第1データ電圧に同期するディスプレイ用スキャン信号を前記ピクセルに書き込み、
前記センシング期間内でセンシング駆動のための第2データ電圧及び前記第2データ電圧に同期するセンシング用スキャン信号を前記ピクセルに書き込む、
パネル駆動回路をさらに含む、請求項2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記センシング期間が終了する第2タイミングと前記ディスプレイ用スキャン信号のパルシングエッジとの間に、前記センシング期間の間に非発光による輝度損失を補償するための輝度復元期間がさらに位置し、
前記ピクセルに対する前記輝度復元期間の長さは前記垂直ブランク期間の長さ変化に関係なく固定されている、請求項4に記載の表示装置。 - 前記パネル駆動回路は、
前記輝度復元期間内で輝度補償ゲインがさらに適用された第3データ電圧及び前記第3データ電圧に同期する輝度復元用スキャン信号を前記ピクセルにさらに書き込む、請求項5に記載の表示装置。 - 前記ピクセルは前記ディスプレイ用スキャン信号が順次印加される複数のピクセルグループラインのいずれか一ピクセルグループラインに属し、
同じフレーム内で、前記輝度復元期間の長さは第1ピクセルグループラインよりも第2ピクセルグループラインで長く、
前記第1ピクセルグループラインのための前記ディスプレイ用スキャン信号の書込順序は前記第2ピクセルグループラインのための前記ディスプレイ用スキャン信号の書込順序よりも早い、請求項6に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1ピクセルグループラインに対する輝度補償ゲインが前記第2ピクセルグループラインに対する輝度補償ゲインよりも大きい、請求項7に記載の表示装置。
- 前記垂直ブランク期間の終了時点は後続フレームの一番目のデータイネーブル信号の立ち上がりエッジを基準に決定される、請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 駆動素子及び発光素子を有するピクセルを備えた表示パネルと、
垂直ブランク期間内でレンダリング完了信号を基準にセンシング期間を設定するタイミングコントローラと、
前記センシング期間で前記駆動素子の電気的特性をセンシングするセンシング回路と、を含み、
前記垂直ブランク期間は、フレーム周波数の割合によって長さが変わる可変期間と、フレーム周波数の割合に関係なく長さが固定された固定期間とを含み、
前記センシング期間は前記固定期間内に位置する、表示装置。 - フレーム周波数の割合を変化させながら前記ピクセルに書き込まれる映像データをレンダリングし、レンダリングされた前記映像データに先立って前記レンダリング完了信号を出力するホストシステムをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の表示装置。
- 前記可変期間は、第1フレームに含まれた最終番目のデータイネーブル信号の立ち下がりエッジと前記レンダリング完了信号のパルシングエッジとの間に位置し、
前記固定期間は、前記レンダリング完了信号のパルシングエッジと第2フレームに含まれた一番目のデータイネーブル信号の立ち上がりエッジとの間に位置し、
前記第1フレームに引き続いて前記第2フレームが連続している、請求項10に記載の表示装置。 - 一フレーム内で前記データイネーブル信号がパルシング(pulsing)される垂直アクティブ期間の長さは、前記第1フレーム及び前記第2フレームで互いに同一であり、
前記一フレーム内で前記データイネーブル信号がノンパルシング(non-pulsing)される垂直ブランク期間の長さは、前記第1フレーム及び前記第2フレームで互いに異なる、請求項12に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1フレームと前記第2フレームとはフレーム周波数が互いに異なる、請求項12に記載の表示装置。
- 前記センシング期間を挟んで前記ピクセルを対象とした第1発光期間及び第2発光期間がさらに位置し、
前記第1発光期間の長さは前記第1フレーム及び前記第2フレームで互いに異なり、
前記第2発光期間の長さは前記第1フレーム及び前記第2フレームで互いに同一である、請求項14に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第2発光期間の輝度が前記第1発光期間の輝度よりも高い、請求項15に記載の表示装置。
- 駆動素子及び発光素子を有するピクセルを備えた表示装置の駆動方法であって、
垂直ブランク期間の長さを変化させながら前記ピクセルに書き込まれる映像データをレンダリングし、レンダリングされた前記映像データに先立ってレンダリング完了信号を出力する段階と、
前記垂直ブランク期間内で前記レンダリング完了信号を基準にセンシング期間を設定する段階と、
前記センシング期間で前記駆動素子の電気的特性をセンシングする段階と、を含み、
前記センシング期間は前記垂直ブランク期間の終了時点から一定時間だけ先立つ第1タイミングで始まり、前記一定時間の長さは前記垂直ブランク期間の長さ変化に関係なく固定されている、表示装置の駆動方法。 - 駆動素子及び発光素子を有するピクセルを備えた表示装置の駆動方法であって、
垂直ブランク期間内でレンダリング完了信号を基準にセンシング期間を設定する段階と、
前記センシング期間で前記駆動素子の電気的特性をセンシングする段階と、を含み、
前記垂直ブランク期間は、フレーム周波数の割合によって長さが変わる可変期間と、フレーム周波数の割合に関係なく長さが固定されている固定期間とを含み、
前記センシング期間は前記固定期間内に位置する、表示装置の駆動方法。
