Abstract
Description

[0003]動物用トイレは、ネコなどのペットが、尿及び糞便を排泄するため使用するものである。動物用トイレには、尿及び糞便を受容する、ペット用トイレ砂の層が収まっている。ペット用トイレ砂は吸収性材料及び/又は吸着性材料を含み、非凝集性又は凝集性であり得る。凝集性ペット用トイレ砂は、尿及び糞便がペット用トイレ砂に堆積された後に、粒子が塊の形成を促進する、トイレ砂製品である。この塊を、典型的には、トイレ砂用スコップの使用により動物用トイレから選り分けた後、廃棄する。非凝集性ペット用トイレ砂は、尿を吸収することで尿の悪臭を除去できる。しかし、トイレ砂の箱全体を空にせずに汚れた非凝集性ペット用トイレ砂を交換するのは難しい場合がある。ペットの尿及び糞便から悪臭を吸収するため、ペット用トイレ砂に脱臭剤を添加できる。
[0008]本開示は、概して、芳香剤と顆粒状悪臭吸着剤とを含む動物用トイレ砂組成物であって、顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、約0.05重量%~約5.0重量%の量で存在し、約0.4nm~約2.0nmの孔径及び約100m2/g~約1500m2/gの総表面積を有し、顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、悪臭を実質的に吸着し、芳香剤を実質的に放出する、動物用トイレ砂組成物に関する。
[0011]本開示及び添付の特許請求の範囲において使用する場合、単数形「a」、「an」及び「the」は、別段の指示がない限り、複数の指示対象を含むことを留意しなければならない。したがって、例えば、「顆粒(a granule)」又は「顆粒(the granule)」への言及は、2つ以上の顆粒を含む。
実施例1
[0073]ベースのトイレ砂に加えて様々な量及びタイプの吸着性材料を含有する、一連のトイレ砂サンプルを調製した。ベースのトイレ砂は、非凝集性コアとナトリウムベントナイトを含む凝集性外部層とを含む、香り付きの設計したトイレ砂であった。
[0077]上記のように調製した顆粒状又は粉末吸着剤を含有する香り付きトイレ砂サンプル、及び追加の顆粒状又は粉末吸着剤を含有しない対照サンプルを、悪臭を制御する能力及びよい香りを維持する能力について試験した。各サンプルを、ネコの尿及び/又はネコの糞便で処理した。5日後、排泄物の塊をトイレ砂から取り出し、糞便、尿、アンモニア、及び芳香に関連する香りの識別において訓練を受けた官能パネルが、業界で認められている方法論を利用して、各サンプルを0~100のスケールで評価した。結果を表2に示す。
[0079]顆粒状モレキュラーシーブを含有するトイレ砂サンプルは、モレキュラーシーブ顆粒を香り付き凝集性トイレ砂と均一に混合することで調製した。組成物中の水分量は、約6重量%~約12重量%であった。芳香量は約0.15重量%であった。
Claims (16)
- 芳香剤と顆粒状悪臭吸着剤とを含む、悪臭制御用の動物用トイレ砂組成物であって、前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、約0.05重量%~約5.0重量%の量で存在し、かつ約0.4nm~約2.0nmの孔径及び約100m2/g~約1500m2/gの総表面積を有し、前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、悪臭を実質的に吸着し、前記芳香剤を実質的に放出する、動物用トイレ砂組成物。
- 前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、モレキュラーシーブ顆粒及び活性炭顆粒からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、約-8~約60のメッシュサイズを有する、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記芳香剤が、約0.05重量%~約0.4重量%の量で存在する、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記芳香剤がカプセル化されていない、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 吸収性基材を更に含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記吸収性基材が、吸収性コアと前記吸収性コアを取り囲む別個の層とを含む吸収性顆粒を含む、請求項6に記載の組成物。
- 前記吸収性基材が粘土を含む、請求項6に記載の組成物。
- 前記吸収性基材が、膨潤粘土でコーティングされた非膨潤粘土コアを含む、請求項6に記載の組成物。
- 前記吸収性基材が、膨潤粘土でコーティングされた膨張パーライトコアを含む、請求項6に記載の組成物。
- 前記膨潤粘土がナトリウムベントナイトである、請求項9又は10に記載の組成物。
- 前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、前記芳香剤よりも悪臭に対してより高い親和性を有する、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、前記悪臭の少なくとも25%を吸着する、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、前記芳香剤の少なくとも40%を放出する、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 悪臭を、芳香剤と顆粒状悪臭吸着剤とを含む組成物と接触させる工程を含む、周囲環境によい香りをもたらしながら前記悪臭を低減する又は取り除くための方法であって、前記顆粒状悪臭吸着剤が、約0.05重量%~約5.0重量%の量で存在し、約0.4nm~約2.0nmの孔径及び約100m2/g~約1500m2/gの総表面積を有する、方法。
- 前記組成物が、顆粒状悪臭吸着剤を含まない対照組成物と比較して、知覚される芳香が同程度である、知覚される芳香が増加している、又は知覚される芳香が約60%未満低減しているものである、請求項15に記載の方法。
