Claims (13)
- 導波路ディスプレイ要素であって、前記導波路ディスプレイ要素は、
積層された複数の導波路層と、
各導波路層に関連付けられ、所定の波長帯域内の光を前記導波路層内に結合するための入力結合器と
を備え、
前記入力結合器の各々は、
前記導波路層上に配置され、中間層特性を有する中間層と、
前記中間層上に配置され、回折格子特性を有する入力結合格子と
を備え、
各入力結合器の中間層特性及び回折格子特性の組合せは、他の入力結合器と異なる、導波路ディスプレイ要素。 - 前記入力結合器は、他の入力結合器と同じ中間層特性及び異なる回折格子特性を有する、請求項1に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 異なる導波路層に関連付けられた入力結合器は、異なる入力結合格子周期を有する、請求項1又は2に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記回折格子周期は、前記要素の入射光側の一番上の導波路層から、前記導波路ディスプレイ要素の反対側の一番下の導波路層に向かって増加する、請求項3に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記入力結合器は、他の入力結合器と同じ回折格子特性及び異なる中間層特性を有する、請求項1に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記導波路層間の1つ又は複数の光帯域通過フィルタ又はダイクロイック・ミラーをさらに備える、請求項5に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 各中間層は、前記各中間層が関連付けられた前記導波路層よりも小さい厚さ及び屈折率を有する、請求項1から6までのいずれかに記載の要素。
- 各入力結合器の前記中間層は、20μm以下、特に10μm以下、例えば1〜10μmの厚さを有する、請求項1から7までのいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記導波路層は、1.7以上、例えば2.0以上の屈折率を有し、前記中間層は、1.8未満、例えば1.7以下の屈折率を有する、請求項1から8までのいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記入力結合器は、同じ形状を有し、前記要素の水平面内で互いに整列配置される、請求項1から9までのいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- ヘッド・マウント・ディスプレイ(HMD)又はヘッド・アップ・ディスプレイ(HUD)のようなパーソナル・ディスプレイ・デバイスであって、
請求項1から10までのいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素と、
異なる入射角の光線を前記ディスプレイ要素の入力結合器に投影するように構成された多色レーザー・プロジェクタと
を備えるパーソナル・ディスプレイ・デバイス。 - 伝搬する光線を導波路ディスプレイ内に結合する方法であって、前記方法は、
請求項1から10までのいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素を提供するステップと、
異なる入射角の光線を前記ディスプレイ要素に向け、前記ディスプレイ要素の前記異なる導波路層に前記光線を選択的に結合するステップと
を含む方法。 - 前記光線は、少なくとも3つの異なる波長帯域の光線を備え、前記波長帯域の各々は、異なる入射角で前記ディスプレイ要素に向けられる、請求項12に記載の方法。
