Abstract
Description
The present disclosure relates to a method for manufacturing an optical fiber.
In a general optical fiber manufacturing (drawing) method, the tip portion of a glass base material for an optical fiber (hereinafter referred to as an optical fiber base material) is heated and softened, and the softened portion is stretched by applying tension. As a result, a glass fiber having a small diameter is obtained. Next, through a cooling process, a resin coating process, etc., the glass fiber is made into an optical fiber covered with a coating, and after being guided by a roller directly underneath or a guide roller, it is taken up to the downstream side of the pass line by a take-up device and bobbins. And so on.
At that time, it is preferable to directly measure the tension of the glass fiber (drawing tension) online, but as shown in Patent Document 1, the tension generated in the optical fiber after coating with the resin (post-coating tension) is monitored in advance. The draw tension may be obtained from the relational expression between the measured post-coating tension and the draw tension.
By the way, in various rollers such as a direct roller and a guide roller, the rotational resistance of the rollers may change due to deterioration of bearings or the like. If the number of guide rollers between the roller directly underneath and the take-up device is large, the rotational resistance of each roller will be piled up. Therefore, if the rotational resistance of the rollers becomes high due to deterioration, etc. The tension generated in the optical fiber also increases. Therefore, if there is a low-strength portion in the optical fiber, there is a high probability that the roller directly underneath and the take-up device will be disconnected.
If the disconnection occurs on the front side of the take-up device, it is necessary to heat and melt the tip of the optical fiber base material again and drop the molten glass block (dropped seed) (also called mouth-out). In some cases. In addition, if the glass fiber is clogged inside the drawing furnace when a disconnection occurs, it may take a long time to recover.
In order to reduce the disconnection of the optical fiber in front of the take-up device, it is sufficient to measure whether or not various rollers used in front of the take-up device, such as the direct roller and the guide roller, are deteriorated. That is, it is desired to measure the tension generated by passing through a plurality of guide rollers in front of the take-up device. However, if there is a roller after the roller that monitors the post-coating tension, it is possible to judge from the measurement result of the post-coating tension whether the various rollers are deteriorated or the probability of disconnection is increasing. Can not.
The present disclosure has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an optical fiber capable of reducing disconnection of an optical fiber during drawing by determining deterioration of a guide roller. And.

The method for manufacturing an optical fiber according to the present disclosure is as follows: (1) A drawing furnace for heating an optical fiber base material, a coating device for coating a drawn glass fiber with a resin, and a direction of a traveling line of the coated optical fiber. An optical fiber manufacturing apparatus having, in order, a direct roller for changing the speed, a plurality of guide rollers for guiding the optical fibers sent from the direct roller, and a take-up device for taking up the optical fiber guided by the guide rollers. A method of manufacturing an optical fiber by Includes the step of measuring.
Since the deterioration of the guide roller is inspected by measuring the tension in front of the take-up device, it is possible to replace the deteriorated guide roller before the frequency of disconnection of the optical fiber increases. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the disconnection of the optical fiber during drawing. The "tension" means the tension generated in the optical fiber after coating with the resin (post-coating tension), and the "front" means the front side when the traveling direction of the optical fiber is taken into consideration. Means.

(2) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, the inspection step further includes a step of determining deterioration of the guide roller based on the measured tension.
Since the deterioration of the guide roller is determined, it is possible to replace the deteriorated guide roller before the frequency of disconnection of the optical fiber increases. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the disconnection of the optical fiber during drawing.
(3) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, the step of measuring the tension is a step of measuring a force applied to at least one guide roller shaft among the plurality of guide rollers.
Since the force applied to the guide roller shaft located between the roller directly below and the take-up device is measured to determine the deterioration of the guide roller, the deteriorated guide roller is removed before the frequency of disconnection of the optical fiber increases, as described above. Processing such as replacement can be performed. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the disconnection of the optical fiber during drawing.
(4) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, the step of measuring the tension measures the natural vibration of the optical fiber in front of or behind at least one of the plurality of guide rollers. This is a step of obtaining the tension of the optical fiber.
Since the tension of the optical fiber can be obtained from the natural vibration of the optical fiber in a non-contact manner with a laser measuring instrument or the like, the guide roller for measurement can be omitted.
(5) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, the step of measuring the force applied to the guide roller shaft is the step of measuring the force applied to the guide roller shaft of the guide roller located immediately before the take-up device. Is.
By measuring the force applied to the guide roller shaft located immediately before the take-up device, it is possible to determine the presence or absence of deterioration regardless of which guide roller is deteriorated. Moreover, since the final tension can be measured, it can be determined whether or not the probability of disconnection is increasing.
(6) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, the step of measuring the natural vibration is a step of measuring the natural vibration of the optical fiber behind the guide roller located immediately before the take-up device.
By measuring the natural vibration of the optical fiber behind the guide roller located immediately before the take-up device, it is possible to determine the presence or absence of deterioration regardless of which guide roller is deteriorated. Moreover, since the final tension can be measured, it can be determined whether or not the probability of disconnection is increasing.
(7) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, the length of the traveling line from the roller directly underneath to the take-up device is 5 m or more.
The resin that coats the optical fiber is in a high temperature state for a while after leaving the UV curing furnace, so if it is picked up by a take-up device in that state, the resin will be deformed or the gap between the glass fiber and the coating will be It may peel off. In the present disclosure, since the length of the traveling line from the roller directly underneath to the take-up device is set as long as 5 m or more, the coated optical fiber can be sufficiently cooled.
(8) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, the number of the plurality of guide rollers is 20 or less.
By increasing the number of turns by using a large number of guide rollers, a compact manufacturing apparatus can be provided. Further, since the number is 20 or less, it is possible to prevent the tension from becoming too high.
(9) In one aspect of the optical fiber manufacturing method of the present disclosure, a step of inspecting deterioration of the guide roller is performed during the line drawing step.
By measuring the deterioration of the guide roller even during wire drawing, it is possible to remove the deteriorated guide roller from the pass line and replace it before the frequency of disconnection of the optical fiber increases. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the disconnection of the optical fiber during drawing.

[Details of Embodiments of the present disclosure]
Hereinafter, specific examples of the optical fiber manufacturing method according to the present disclosure will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic view of an optical fiber manufacturing apparatus according to one aspect of the present disclosure.
As shown in FIG. 1, the optical

FIG. 2 is a configuration diagram of the control device of FIG. The

When it is determined that the
By measuring the force applied to the guide roller shaft of the
Further, by measuring the force applied to the guide roller shaft of the
By the way, in the above-described embodiment, an example of measuring the force applied to the guide roller shaft of the
It is also possible to measure the force applied to at least two guide roller shafts among the plurality of guide rollers and determine the deterioration of the guide rollers based on the increment of tension obtained from the difference in the forces. .. By doing so, it is possible to determine whether or not the two guide rollers and the guide rollers between them are deteriorated.
Of course, if the force applied to each guide roller shaft is measured, the deterioration of each guide roller can be investigated, which is more preferable, but there is a problem of increased equipment cost and maintenance.
Instead of measuring the force applied to the guide roller shaft, for example, a handy tension meter or a non-contact tension meter is used to measure the tension in front of the take-up
Further, in the above embodiment, the force applied to the guide roller shaft of the
(Example)
The force (measured value) applied to the guide roller shaft of the
As a result, when the measured value was 700 g, the disconnection frequency was twice. When the measured value was 600 g, the disconnection frequency was 1.3 times, and when the measured value was 500 g, the disconnection frequency was 0.6 times. Further, when the measured value was 400 g, it was 0.3 times, when the measured value was 300 g, it was 0.05 times, and when the measured value was 200 g, it was 0.02 times. That is, it can be seen that the frequency of disconnection of the optical fiber G2 is less than once if the force applied to the guide roller shafts of the
In order to reduce the force applied to the guide roller shaft of the
Further, in the above embodiment, the measurement is performed using a fiber having a glass diameter of φ125 μm, but the present disclosure is also applicable to a fiber having a glass diameter such as φ80 μm or φ150 μm. That is, the stress applied to the optical fiber is expressed by "drawing tension / glass fiber cross-sectional area". Therefore, for fibers having different diameters, the drawing tension should be adjusted to be proportional to the cross-sectional area ratio so that this stress is the same. Just do it. That is, if the tension is 500 g or less in the case of φ125 μm, it may be 320 g or less in the case of φ100 μm.
