Abstract
Description
本明細書で使用される「C−NT」という用語は、カーボンナノチューブを指す。カーボンナノチューブは、単層カーボンナノチューブ又は多層カーボンナノチューブ(MWCNT)、例えばMWCNTであってもよい。C−NTは酸化されていてもよく、例えば、C−NTは酸化されたMWCNTであってもよい。C−NTは、本開示の電極の支持材料のための適切な基板材料を表す。
本発明の電極は、Co3O4メソ結晶を含むことができる。
(1)Co3O4 CP−NRs及びCo3O4 BC−NRsの緻密な凝集及び構成要素の付着であって、長手方向軸に沿って中心の焦点の周りに密集したCP−NRs又はBC−NRsの軸バンドを有し、これにより、巨大な竹の木に似た構造を含むナノフォレストが形成される。
(2)その「竹」の中のCP−NRsとBC−NRsのサイズは、中心の焦点からの距離が増加するにつれて減少し、c軸に沿って弓状になり、これにより、c軸に沿って内部に走るナノスケールの窓を備えた、鋭く尖った凸状の針状のNR構造を形成する。この有力な針状の端部上面は、触媒反応中にトリガーパルス電子の拡散を最大にすることによって、迅速な電子輸送を可能にした。
(3)N2等温プロファイリング(図7参照)によって示されるように、触媒合成中の界面活性剤ヘキサメチレンテトラミンの添加は、LSs及びMCSsの高密度の垂直薄層集合体の形成を促進し、それらは、スペーサーのミクロ、メソ及びマクロ小球の細孔によって境界を定められた末端の非積層層を有する。したがって、LSs及びMCSsの垂直軸に沿った成長は、長手方向軸に沿った方向成長から生じた。
(4)炭素支持体としてg−Cを使用することにより、LSsを規則的な間隔(100nm)で離散的に積み重ねるか、全く積み重ねないようにした。長手方向軸に沿ったこの多層LS構造は、逆オパール多層を有する複合MCS構造のものと比較して、観察された効率的な触媒活性の原因となる可能性がある。
(5)C−NTs、塩化コバルト(II)(CoCl2)、及びヘキサメチレンテトラミンの使用は、反対方向に走る平坦な二重螺旋バンドの優先的な軸配置と、C−NTドメインの長手方向軸に沿った複数のカンチレバーシートの作製とをもたらした。各々の個々の平坦化されたシートは、各エッジに沿って2つの凹形状の方向の湾曲において動的な柔軟性を示した(図5及び図6)。

調査された全ての化学物質及び物質は分析等級であり、さらに精製することなく使用した。塩化コバルト六水和物(CoCl2・6H2O、99%)、黒鉛粉末(98%)、尿素(CO(NH2)2、99%)、HMT(C6H12N4)及び水酸化ナトリウム(NaOH、98%)は、Wako社(大阪、日本)から供給された。硝酸コバルト六水和物(Co(NO3)2・6H2O、98%)、硝酸アンモニウム(NH4NO3、99%)、無水エタノール(C2H5OH、99.5%)、硝酸(HNO3、61%)、硫酸(H2SO4、95%)、塩酸(HCl、36%)及び過酸化水素(H2O2、30%)は、Nacalai Tesque社(日本)から購入した。MWCNT(98%)は米国シグマアルドリッチ社から、過マンガン酸カリウム(KMnO4、99.5%)は東京化成工業(TCI)社から購入した。ナノコンポジットを成長させた導電性の土台として、TCIによって3次元多孔質Ni発泡体(3D−PNi)(1cm×1cm)が製造された。合成の前に、3DHCl基板を、濃HCl溶液、エタノール及びMilli−Q水で連続的に超音波処理することによって繰り返しすすぎ、次に60℃で12時間乾燥させた。
<多層カーボンナノチューブ(MWCNTs)の精製及び機能化>
わずかに修正したHummers法に従って、黒鉛粉末から酸化グラフェンを合成した。典型的には、2gの黒鉛粉末(約40μm)を、25℃で1時間激しく撹拌することにより、濃H2SO4及びHNO3(100mL、1:1 v/v)の強酸化溶液と反応させた。その後、溶液を氷水浴中に置き、2時間撹拌しながら7gのKMnO4を溶液にゆっくりと加えた。次いで、均一な反応溶液を得ることを避けるために、混合物を40℃で6時間超音波処理した。その後、脱イオン水(350mL)を、形成したゲルと混合し、混合物全体を80℃で1時間撹拌した。続いて、120mLの30%H2O2及び50mLの15%HCl溶液を混合物に添加し、次いで10分間撹拌した。ゲル混合物を褐色の沈殿物が生じるまで静置した。固体物質を二回蒸留水で繰り返し洗浄し、次の調査の前に60℃で一晩乾燥させた。
C−NT/CoO CPs/3D−PNi電極の合成のための単純なワンポット法は、マイクロ波アシスト技術によって達成された。この方法では、0.1Mの硝酸コバルト六水和物及び0.35MのHMTを37mLの脱イオン水と10分間撹拌しながら混合した。次いで、80mgの酸化されたC−NTを上記溶液に浸漬し、3時間激しく撹拌した。その後、混合物を3D−PNiシートを含むテフロンライニングされたオートクレーブに移し(スキーム1)、160℃で1時間マイクロ波照射した(600W)。回収した試料をエタノール及び脱イオン水で注意深く洗浄し、60℃で一晩乾燥させ、最後に空気中400℃で4時間焼成した。
長手方向電極設計を使用してEOR効率に及ぼすキャリア基板の影響を調べるために、いくつかの電気化学的実験を行った。これらの実験では、C−NT又はg−C/Co3O4又はCoO/3D−PNi電極アッセイに適用される電気化学的条件と同様の電気化学的条件で、C−NT又はg−C/Co3O4又はCoO/GC電極を使用した。薄膜積層C−NT又はg−C/Co3O4又はCoO/GC電極を、25℃で不均一アシストインク堆積法によりGC基板上に活性触媒粉末を分散させることによって、作製した。均一な触媒インクを、5mgの活性触媒を、2mLのMilli−Q水中の結合剤として使用された5重量%のナフィオン溶液50μLに、超音波処理下で少なくとも30分間混合することによって、調製した。次いで、触媒インク(4μL)を、GCの3活性領域(φ=3mm)に約0.143mg/cm2で充填した。触媒インク充填GC電極を、50℃の密封オーブン中で乾燥させて、GC基板領域上に均一な触媒層を形成させた。

アニールした試料の形態を、FE−SEM(JEOL Model 6500)により15kVで調べた。FE−SEMチャンバーに挿入する前に、C−NT又はg−C/Co3O4又はCoO/3D−PNi電極を、カーボンテープを用いてFE−SEMステージ上に固定した。イオンスパッタリング装置(Hitachi E−1030)を用いて、電極上に25℃で薄層Pt膜を堆積させた。集束イオンビーム(FIB)システム(JEM−9320FIB)を、5〜30kVの加速電圧で5kVの可変ステップ及び150〜300000倍の倍率で作動させた。C−NT又はg−C/Co3O4又はCoO触媒を含む粉末試料の配向軸(X及びY)は、±60°の傾斜角で±1.2mm以内で変化させることができる。試料を、炭素保護層による堆積後、バルク試料ホルダー(8×8mm2)を用いてFIB装置内に挿入した。FIB調査の前に、C−NT又はgC/Co3O4又はCoO触媒の粉末試料を、細かい睫毛プローブを用いて小シリコンウェハ上に少量のエポキシ(Gatan社)と混合して、シリコン基板上に非常に薄い膜を形成した(図2及びS7)。各薄膜を、130℃のホットプレート上で10分間ベークし、続いて約30nmの均一に薄い炭素層で被覆した。試料を30kVで作動させたFIB顕微鏡に挿入し、次いで−1.5°及び+1.5°傾斜を使用して2μmの最終厚さになるまで両面を粗く粉砕した。その後、C−NT又はg−C/Co3O4又はCoO試料を切断し、その後のHAADF−STEM顕微鏡検査のために、FIBシステムから取り出した。
<電気化学測定>
水銀/酸化水銀(Hg/HgO、1MのNaOH)及び白金線(φ=0.1mm)をそれぞれ基準電極及び対電極として使用し、自家製の電気化学セルで電気化学測定を行った。CPs、LSs、MCSs及びBCsの表面構造を有し、1.5mgの活性充填(active loading)を有する3D−PNi上に成長した活性触媒C−NT又はg−C/Co3O4又はCoOを、電気化学的調査のための作用電極として用いた。データは、Thales Z 2.0ソフトウェアによって制御されるZennium/ZAHNER電気化学的ワークステーション(Elektrik有限合資会社)を用いて記録した。最初に、信号が安定するまで、全ての作用電極を50mV・秒−1の走査速度で少なくとも10回サイクルした。次に、CVデータを収集した。電流密度5は、調査した作用電極の幾何学的表面積(1cm2)を指す。測定された電位は、Hg/HgO参照電極に関して報告した。新たに調製した電解液(0.5MのNaOH)を、電気化学ガラスセル内の電解液の上に精製したN2のゆっくりとした流れをバブリングすることによって脱気した。N2飽和電解質を確保するために、電気化学測定中にN2フローを維持した。記録された結果の再現性を保証するために、新たに調製した電解液を電気化学測定ごとに使用した。エタノール電解酸化反応中の電極安定性を評価するために、クロノアンペロメトリー試験(CA)を行った。CA測定は、0.5Mエタノールの存在下、Hg/HgOに対して0.7Vの一定電位を印加することによって得られた。EIS測定は、振幅が5mVで開回路電位が100kHz〜0.01Hzの周波数範囲で行った。
<C−NT/Co3O4 CP又はBC/3D−PNi電極の作製>
BC電極を、1.5gのCoCl2・6H2O、0.5gの尿素(CO(NH2)2)、及び60mLのH2Oの溶液から作製した。CP電極を、1.43gのCoCl2・6H2O、3.6gの尿素、及び60mLのH2Oの溶液から作製した。C−NT(80mg)を溶液に添加し、これを3時間撹拌した後、100mLのテフロンライニングされたステンレス鋼製オートクレーブ中の1cm2の3D−PNi上に堆積させた。混合物を150℃で12時間熱処理し、次いで自然に25℃まで冷却した。3D−PNi、C/Co(OH)x(CO3)0.5・0.11H2O上で成長した生成物を、無水エタノール及び脱イオン水で順次洗浄し、次いで60℃で一晩乾燥させた。次に、調製したC/Co(OH)x(CO3)0.5・0.11H2O/CP又はBCの電極を、400℃、5℃/分の昇温速度で4時間、N2ガス流下で焼成した。
<C−NT/Co3O4 MCS/3D−PNi電極及びg−C/Co3O4 LS/3D−PNi電極の作製>
組成物へのC−NT又はg−C導電性基板の添加は、MCS及びLS構造を達成するために不可欠であった。1.43gのCoCl2・6H2O、2.94gのヘキサメチレンテトラミン(C6H12N4)、及び60mLのH2Oの混合物を10分間撹拌した。その後、80mgのC−NT又はg−Cを溶液に添加し、混合物を3時間撹拌した後、100mLのテフロンライニングされたステンレス鋼製オートクレーブ中の1cm2の3D−PNi上に堆積させた。混合物を150℃で12時間熱処理し、次いで自然に25℃まで冷却した。3D−PNi、C−NT又はg−C/Co(OH)x(CO3)0.5・0.11H2O上で成長した生成物を、無水エタノール及び脱イオン水で順次洗浄し、60℃で一晩乾燥させた。次に、調製したC/Co(OH)x(CO3)0.5・0.11H2O/MCS電極及びg−C/Co(OH)x(CO3)0.5・0.11H2O/LS電極を、400℃、5℃/分の昇温速度で4時間、N2ガス流下で焼成した。
<数学的モデリング>
DFTは、電子相関効果を効果的に説明する有望な手法である。この研究では、DFTで調べた全ての計算は、BIOVIA DassaultシステムのDMol3に従って行われた(2,3)。交換相関エネルギー関数を、Perdew−Burke−Ernzerhof(PBE)形式主義によって表した(4)。Kohn−Shamの方程式を、偏光関数を用いた二重数値品質基準セット(DNP:double numeric quality basis set)で拡張した。相対論的効果を考慮するために、DFTセミコア擬ポテンシャル(参考文献5)を、ドープされたクラスターのコア電子の処理に使用した。軌道カットオフ範囲及びフェルミスメアリング(Fermi smearing)を、それぞれ5.0Å及び0.001Haとして選択した。10−6任意単位の収束基準で十分に収束した幾何学的及び電子的構造を得るために、自己整合フィールド(SCF:self−consistent−field)手順を実施した。エネルギー、最大力、及び最大変位収束を、それぞれ10−6Ha、0.002Ha/Å、及び0.005Åに設定した。一方、静電部位の電位は、空間の所定の位置でイオンが受ける単位電荷あたりのクーロン相互作用の尺度である。静電ポテンシャル(EP)分布を計算するために、DFTも使用した。モデリングは、表面電荷マップの特徴を使用して、等表面上の各点で物理的な量的調査を示すために実施された。典型的には、電子密度の等表面は、格子表現を用いたEP強度(EPI)に基づいて着色され、この電荷は、EPが計算されるいわゆる輪郭内の立方格子上にマッピングされる。スラブモデルを、各触媒の9原子層で構成した(図23)。構造内の活性中心を比較するために、表面層及び表面下の層の酸素原子が、化学量論的モードに関与していた。最適化されたモデルに示されるように、EPを、−0.06eVから+0.6eVの範囲にわたって調査した。
<階層Co3O4ナノコンポジットの水熱アシスト形成>
図2は、例示的な電極の形態進化の概要を示す。強固な機械的接着力を有する3D−PNi基板上に直接成長した階層金属骨格から誘導されたC−NT又はg−C/Co3O4ナノハイブリッド構造が得られた。これは、合成されたC−NT又はg−C/Co(OH)x(CO3)0.5・0.11H2O/3D−PNi電極を、400℃で4時間、適切に熱分解した後に得られた(追加の詳細は実験のセクションにある)。3D−PNi骨格に垂直に向いた長手方向に沿って形態制御されたナノハイブリッドを製造するために、スケーラブルで柔軟な方法が採用された。これらのプロセスでは、NR構造においてCPs及びBCsの表面形態が優勢であり、且つナノシートにおいてMCSs及びLSsの表面形態が優勢であるように設計された。GOシート(g−C)又は機能化された多層カーボンナノチューブ(C−NT)対応物は、カーボン支持体として作用した。基本的には、製造された電極のユニークな構造は、指向性を有する塩基性塩(尿素及びHMT)及びコバルト前駆体によってもたらされた。
Claims (53)
- 支持体及び金属酸化物触媒を含む電極であって、前記金属酸化物触媒がナノフォレスト構造を含む電極。
- 前記金属酸化物触媒が遷移金属酸化物であり、任意選択的に、前記遷移金属酸化物が酸化コバルト、酸化ニッケル、酸化マンガン又は酸化カドミウムを含む、請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記金属酸化物触媒が酸化コバルトであり、任意選択的に、前記酸化コバルトがCo3O4、CoO、又はCo3O4とCoOとの混合物を含む、請求項1又は2に記載の電極。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造が前記支持体の表面に対して垂直方向に配向しており、及び/又は、ナノフォレスト構造がメソ結晶構造を含む、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造が、トウモロコシ結節ペレット(CPs:corn tubercle pellets)、バナナクラスター(BCs:banana clusters)、薄シート(LSs:lamina sheets)及び複数のカンチレバーシート(MCSs:multiple cantilever sheets)、又はそれらの組み合わせから選択される形態学的構造を含む、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造が、トウモロコシ結節ペレット(CPs)を含む形態学的構造を含み、任意選択的に、前記CPsがナノロッド(NR)ドメインにおいて前記支持体の表面の長手方向平面から垂直に配向している、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造が、バナナクラスター(BCs)を含む形態学的構造を含み、任意選択的に、前記BCsがナノロッド(NR)ドメインにおいて前記支持体の表面の長手方向平面から垂直に配向している、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造が、薄シート(LSs)を含む形態学的構造を含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造が、複数のカンチレバーシート(MCSs)を含む形態学的構造を含む、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記CPs、及び/又はBCs、及び/又はLSs、及び/又はMCSsが、前記支持体の表面に対して垂直方向に配向している、請求項5〜9のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記金属酸化物触媒が以下の界面:
ミラー指数{111}/{112}及び/又は{112}/{111};又は
ミラー指数{110}/{001}及び/又は{001}/{110};又は
ミラー指数{112};
を有する結晶を含む、請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載の電極。 - 前記支持体が、炭素を含む基板を含み、任意選択的に前記金属酸化物触媒が前記基板上に堆積されている、請求項1〜11のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記炭素が、グラフェンシート(g−C)、カーボンナノチューブ(C−NTs)、グラファイト、炭素繊維、メソポーラスカーボン又は炭素窒化物を含み、任意選択的に、炭素がグラファイト、グラフェンシート(g−C)、又はカーボンナノチューブ(C−NTs)を含む、請求項12に記載の電極。
- 前記支持体が、発泡金属、ガラス状炭素(GC)、又はセラミック膜を含むベースを含み、任意選択的に、支持体が、発泡金属又はガラス状炭素(GC)を含むベースを含む、請求項1〜13のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記発泡金属が、発泡ニッケル又は発泡アルミニウムを含むか、又はそれからなる、請求項14に記載の電極。
- 前記発泡金属が発泡ニッケルを含み、任意選択的に、前記発泡ニッケルが3D多孔質ニッケル発泡体(3D−PNi)である、請求項14又は15に記載の方法。
- 前記支持体が、前記ベース上に堆積された請求項12又は13に記載の基板を含む、請求項14〜16のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造物は、前記電極の露出した表面上にある、請求項1〜17のいずれか一項に記載の電極。
- 支持体及び金属酸化物触媒前駆体を含む組成物であって、前記金属酸化物触媒前駆体がナノフォレスト構造を含む組成物。
- 前記金属酸化物触媒前駆体が、水和金属酸化物前駆体であるか、又はそれを含む、請求項19に記載の組成物。
- 前記金属酸化物触媒前駆体が水和コバルト酸化物であり、任意選択的に、前記金属酸化物触媒前駆体が式Co(OH)x(CO3)0.5.0.11H2O(式中、xは1、2又は3から選択される)、又はそれらの混合物を有する、請求項19又は20に記載の組成物。
- 前記ナノフォレスト構造が請求項4〜11のいずれか一項に記載の特徴を含み、及び/又は、支持体が請求項5〜18のいずれか一項に記載の特徴を含む、請求項19〜21のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 電極を製造する方法であって、
電極ベースの存在下で、コバルト(II)カチオン、尿素又は環状アミド及び炭素を含む水溶液を形成する工程;
前記溶液を活性化する工程;
前記電極ベース上に堆積されたコバルトと炭素とを含む組成物が形成されるように反応を進行させる工程;
前記組成物を前記溶液から単離する工程;
前記組成物を焼成して、酸化コバルト触媒を含む電極を形成する工程、
を含む、上記方法。 - 前記コバルト(II)カチオンが塩によって提供され、任意選択的に、前記塩が塩化コバルト、硝酸コバルト、又はそれらの組み合わせを含み、任意選択的に、塩が塩化コバルトを含む、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 前記炭素が、グラフェンシート(g−C)、カーボンナノチューブ(C−NTs)、グラファイト、炭素繊維、メソポーラスカーボン又は炭素窒化物を含み、任意選択的に、炭素はグラファイト、グラフェンシート(g−C)、又はカーボンナノチューブ(C−NTs)を含む、請求項23又は24に記載の方法。
