Abstract
Description
第1実施形態では、高レベル放射性廃棄物(HLW)(放射性物質)を収容した廃棄物収容容器を地層処分施設に埋設する形態を例示する。
図1に示されるように、地層処分施設100(廃棄物監視システム)は、廃棄物収容容器1を安定した地層に埋設処分する。地層処分施設100は、廃棄物収容容器1と、地面G上に設けられた建屋Fと、埋設されたコンクリート構造物110と、坑道120と、採水施設130(検出部)と、を有する。建屋Fは、地層処分施設100の入り口である。建屋Fは、コンクリート構造物110に通じる坑道120と接続される。コンクリート構造物110は、廃棄物収容容器1を収容する。コンクリート構造物110は、廃棄物収容容器1を収容するトンネル111を有する。
図4に示されるように、廃棄物収容容器1は、円柱形状を呈する。廃棄物収容容器1は、キャニスタ2(容器部)と、人工バリア3(バリア部)と、を有する。キャニスタ2は、放射性廃棄物を密封する金属容器である。キャニスタ2は、放射性廃棄物とガラスとが混ぜ合わされたガラス固化体300(被収容物)を封入する。ガラス固化体300は、ステンレス鋼製キャスクに充填されている。ガラス固化体300は、放射性核種を均一かつ安全に固定すると共に、熱や放射線に対する安定性を有する。さらに、ガラス固化体300は、高い化学的耐久性により地下水への放射性核種の溶出を抑制する。
第2実施形態に係る廃棄物収容容器について説明する。第2実施形態に係る廃棄物収容容器は、人工バリアの構成が、第1実施形態に係る廃棄物収容容器1と相違する。
Claims (7)
- 放射性物質を含む被収容物を密封し、鉄系材料により形成された容器部と、
前記容器部の外面を覆い、モンモリロナイトを含むベントナイト系材料により形成されたバリア部と、を備え、
前記バリア部は、
前記モンモリロナイトの層間陽イオンとして希土類元素を含む第1の部分と、
前記モンモリロナイトの層間陽イオンとしてナトリウム又はカルシウムを含む第2の部分と、を有する、廃棄物収容容器。 - 前記希土類元素は、ユウロピウムであり、
前記第2の部分に含まれる前記層間陽イオンは、ナトリウムである、請求項1に記載の廃棄物収容容器。 - 前記容器部は、両端が閉鎖された円筒形状を呈し、
前記バリア部は、前記容器部が配置される空間を画成する両端が閉鎖された円筒形状を呈し、
前記第1の部分は、前記容器部の直径方向に沿って、前記容器部を挟むように形成される、請求項1又は2に記載の廃棄物収容容器。 - 前記第1の部分は、前記容器部が挿通される貫通穴を有する円板形状を呈する、請求項3に記載の廃棄物収容容器。
- 前記第1の部分は、前記容器部の外面に接する接触面を有する、請求項4に記載の廃棄物収容容器。
- 前記第2の部分は、前記容器部が挿通される貫通穴を有する円板形状を呈し、
前記第1の部分は、前記第2の部分が配置される貫通穴を有する円板形状を呈する、
請求項3に記載の廃棄物収容容器。 - 請求項1〜6の何れか一項に記載の廃棄物収容容器と、
地下において、前記廃棄物収容容器が埋設される処分領域部と、
前記処分領域部の近傍に設けられ、前記廃棄物収容容器におけるバリア部の第1の部分から土中に排出された希土類元素を検出する検出部と、を備える、廃棄物監視システム。
