Abstract
Description
様々な方法を用いて、成形研磨粒子を得ることができる。粒子は、商業的供給源から入手してもよく、または作製してもよい。成形研磨粒子を作製するために使用される一部の好適なプロセスとしては、蒸着、印刷(例えば、スクリーン印刷)、鋳型成形、プレス、流延、分割、切断、ダイス切断、打抜き、プレス、乾燥、硬化、コーティング、押出、圧延、及びこれらの組み合わせを挙げることができるがこれらに限定されない。
ヘルツ強度は、破断の発生時における最大引張応力であり、以下に従って計算される:σr=1/3(1−2ν)p0(R=aかつz=0において)。
成形研磨粒子を形成または供給した後、粒子を他の材料と併せて、固定研磨物品を形成することができる。固定研磨体では、成形研磨粒子を、マトリクスまたは基質に連結させて、材料除去操作に使用することができる。一部の好適な例示的な固定研磨物品としては、結合研磨物品を挙げることができ、ここで、成形研磨粒子は、結合材料の三次元マトリクスに収容されている。他の事例では、固定研磨物品は、研磨布紙物品であってもよく、ここで、成形研磨粒子は、バッキングを覆う単一の層に分散され、1つ以上の接着層を用いてバッキングに結合され得る。
それらが画像に完全に存在していないという事実を考慮して、倍率±0.5を適用した。
4つの成形研磨粒子サンプルを、性能の比較のために試験した。第1のサンプルであるサンプルS1を、まず、およそ45〜50重量%のベーマイトを含む混合物から形成した。ベーマイトは、Sasol CorpからCatapal Bとして入手し、Catapal Bと脱イオン水及び硝酸との30重量%混合物をオートクレーブすることによって改変させた。硝酸とベーマイトの比は、オートクレーブ内において、ならびに5分間〜24時間の範囲の時間で100℃〜250℃において処理すると、およそ0.025であった。オートクレーブしたCatapal Bのゾルを、従来的な手段により乾燥させた。Sasol CorpからDisperalとして市販されている代替的なベーマイトを用いてもよい。ベーマイトを、混合物の総アルミナ含量に対して1%のαアルミナシードと混合し、撒いた。αアルミナシードは、例えば、米国特許第4,623,364号に記載されている従来技術を用いてコランダムをミリングすることによって作製した。混合物には、混合物の所望される粘度に応じて、45〜50重量%の水及び2.5〜7重量%の追加の硝酸が含まれており、これらはゲル混合物を形成するために使用された。成分を、従来的な設計の遊星型ミキサで混合し、混合物からガス要素(例えば、気泡)を除去するために減圧下で混合した。
4つの成形研磨粒子サンプルを作製し、SGGTでのそれらの性能を比較した。第1及び第2のサンプルは、上述の実施例1のサンプルS1及びS3である。
第7のサンプルであるサンプルS7を、まず、ベーマイトと、水、4重量%の硝酸、及び最大1%のαアルミナシードを含むゲルから形成した。ベーマイトの固体負荷量は、ゲルの総重量の45〜50重量%であった。ゲルを、所望の形状を有する成形研磨粒子を有するスクリーンの開口部に入れた。スクリーンはステンレス鋼製であった。ゲルをスクリーンの開口部に入れる前に、開口部の側面に、剥離剤として油をスプレーした。成形した後、乾燥させた成形研磨粒子を、およそ1000℃でか焼させる。マグネシアを含有するMg(NO3)2化合物を水中に溶解させて、マグネシア添加剤を作製した。およそ240gのアルミナ質材料に、十分な量のマグネシア添加剤を含浸させて、およそ1360℃で10分間焼結させた後に2.5重量%のMgO及び97.5重量%のαアルミナを有する成形研磨粒子を作製した。
第8のサンプルであるサンプルS8を、まず、ベーマイトと、水、4重量%の硝酸、及び最大1%のαアルミナシードを含むゲルから形成した。ベーマイトの固体負荷量は、ゲルの総重量の45〜50重量%であった。ゲルを、所望の形状を有する成形研磨粒子を有するスクリーンの開口部に入れた。スクリーンはステンレス鋼製であった。ゲルをスクリーンの開口部に入れる前に、開口部の側面に、剥離剤として油をスプレーした。成形した後、乾燥させた成形研磨粒子を、およそ1000℃でか焼させた。塩基性炭酸ジルコニウム(ZBC)溶液を、46.1gのZBCを61gの28重量%HNO3溶液中に溶解させて調製した。およそ170gのアルミナ質材料に、10.8gの硝酸マグネシウム六水和物、及び48.2gの脱イオン水中に溶解させた13.6gのZBC溶液から作製した一次添加組成物を含浸させた。含浸材料を80℃でおよそ12時間乾燥させる。次いで、成形された含浸粒子をおよそ1360℃で焼結させた。

- 前記本体は、約80ミクロン以下から少なくとも約1ミクロンの範囲内の先端部鋭度を有する、請求項1、2、及び3のいずれか1項に記載の成形研磨粒子。
- 前記本体は、約0.7から約1.7の範囲内の鋭度−形状−強度係数(3SF)を有する、請求項1、2、及び3のいずれか1項に記載の成形研磨粒子。
- 前記本体は、アルミナ及びマグネシウム含有種から本質的になる、請求項1、2、及び3のいずれか1項に記載の成形研磨粒子。
- 前記本体は、固定研磨体の一部として基材に連結されており、前記固定研磨物品は、結合研磨物品、研磨布紙物品、及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項1、2、及び3のいずれか1項に記載の成形研磨粒子。
