H2、CH4及びO2等の種々の汎用品からのCO2の除去のためのCO2選択膜の開発は、精油所、天然ガス生産サイト、並びに発電所におけるCO2除去用途において増大する需要を満たすために重要である。これまでのところ、報告された有機金属骨格膜は、特にH2との混合物においてCO2の透過選択性が低い。
連続的なsod−ZMOF薄膜を作製するためには、反応条件の最適化が必須であった。クローズドで連続的なsod−ZMOF薄膜の作製のための好適な条件を得て、多孔質の/活性化されたアルミナ支持体の上にsod−ZMOF結晶を付着させ、相互成長させることができる。この相互成長は、ソルボサーマル反応のスケールアップ、超音波処理及び反応混合物全体にわたって均一な核形成を誘起するための加熱を組み合わせることによって達成できた。その後、ジメチルホルムアミド(DMF)を低沸点溶媒(アセトニトリル)に置き換え、乾燥しつつ溶媒を蒸発させる間に亀裂が生じないように、大気中、室温の条件下で乾燥した。sod−ZMOF膜の粉末X線回折(PXRD)パターン(図2)は、高い結晶化度を有する純粋相のsod−ZMOFの生成を示している。
XRPDデータは、Panalytical X’Pert Pro回折計を用い、CuKα(1.540Å)、45kV、40mAで、スキャン速度0.071112(°/s)、ステップサイズ0.0167113°とし、室温で記録した。FEIのデスクトップPhenomを用いて走査電子顕微鏡(SEM)画像を取得した。
既製の多孔質アルミナ基板(直径22mm、厚み2mm)は、Cobra Technologies BVより購入した。
低圧吸着測定は、全自動マイクロポアガスアナライザーAutosorb−1C(Quantachrome Instruments)を用い、相対圧1気圧までで実施した。CO2の等比体積吸着熱(Qst)の決定は、258K、273K及び298Kで測定した等温線を用いてClausius−Clapeyron式を適用することによって推定した。典型的な実験においては、sod−ZMOFは、合成したままの結晶をDMFで洗浄し、次いでアセトニトリルで7日間、溶媒交換することによって活性化した。次いで活性化した試料45〜60mgを6mmの試料セルに移し、室温で46時間(ターボ分子真空ポンプを用いて)脱気し、次いで12時間で160℃に徐々に加熱し、室温に冷却した。
純粋な気体の吸着平衡の測定は、磁気懸垂式天秤(MSB)とバルブ、質量流量計並びに温度及び圧力センサーのネットワークとから主になるRubotherm重量・密度装置(Bochum、Germany)(図3)を用いて実施した。MSBは高精度のミクロ天秤を試料及び測定雰囲気から分離することによって他の市販の重量測定装置の欠点を克服しており、広い圧力範囲、即ち0〜20MPaにわたって吸着測定を実施することができる。吸着温度も、77K〜423Kの範囲内で制御することができる。典型的な吸着実験においては、吸着剤を正確に秤量し、電磁石を通して永久磁石に懸垂されたバスケットの中に設置する。次いでバスケットを収容したセルを閉じ、真空又は高圧を印加する。重量測定法によって、吸着された気体の減少量Ωの直接測定が可能となる。式1を用いて過剰の吸着量を決定するために、浮力効果の補正が必要である。ここでV吸着剤及びVssは、それぞれ吸着剤の体積及び懸垂システムの体積を意味する。
定容/可変圧装置を用いて、タイムラグ解析により、薄膜の純粋気体透過性、拡散及び収着係数を決定した。特製のセルを用いてフィルムを取り付け、リークしないよう、両表面にOリングを圧着してシールした。それぞれのランの前に、全ての透過気体について、オフガスによるいかなる「リーク速度」も定常状態における圧上昇速度の1%未満になるまで、系全体を35℃、高真空で脱気する。全ての純粋気体実験は、供給圧を2barとして行なった。透過中の下流の圧上昇を10TorrのMKS Baratronトランスデューサーで監視し、定常状態を確保するため10回のタイムラグが経過した後で実験を停止した。純粋気体の透過性は
によって与えられる。
ここでPはBarrer(10−10cm3(STP)cm/(cm2 s cmHg))で表わした透過係数、dpd/dtSSは透過圧上昇の定常状態速度(cmHg/s)、dpd/dtLRは下流「リーク速度」(cmHg/s)、Vdは下流体積(cm3)、lは活性層厚み(cm)、pupは上流圧(cmHg)、Aは膜面積(cm2)、Rは気体定数(0.278cm3 cmHg/(cm3(STP)K)、Tは測定温度(K)である。見掛けの拡散係数D(cm2/s)は、D=l2/6θとして、タイムラグθ(s)から計算される。透過は溶液拡散機構によって起こると仮定して、溶解度係数S(cm3(STP)/(cm3 cmHg))はS=P/Dによって与えられる。
定容/可変圧ガスクロマトグラフィー手法(CV/VP)
アルミナ支持体上におけるZMOF薄膜の混合気体透過特性を、文献に記載された装置を用いて35℃で測定した。たとえばH.Czichos,T.Saito,L.Smith,Springer handbook of materials measurement methods,978巻,Springer 2006を参照されたい。これは参照により全体として組み込まれる。モル比1:1のCO2/CH4供給気体混合物を4barの供給圧で流し、透過分圧を純粋気体ランにおけるものと比較できるようにした。ステージカット、即ち透過流量と供給流量との比を1%未満に保ち、残留組成が供給混合物のそれと基本的に同一になるようにした。4つのカラムと熱伝導度検出器を備えたAgilent3000A Micro GCを、それぞれの気体の対についていくつかの較正混合物を用いて対象の組成範囲にわたって較正した。透過性及び透過組成が時間とともに変化しなくなれば、ランを停止した。気体iの混合気体透過係数は、
(式中、y及びxはそれぞれ、透過物及び供給物中のモル分率であり、圧上昇速度は透過気体混合物について測定された全速度である)
によって決定した。下流圧が上流圧に対して無視できる場合には、気体の対(i/j)についての分離係数は
によって計算される。
VP−連続透過組成解析手法は、利用に殆ど近い条件で膜を試験するために用いられる単純な方法である。透過気体の組成を、定常状態が生じるまで連続的に監視する。sod−ZMOF膜についての典型的な実験においては、透過側における気体組成を監視しながらヘリウムを上流に供給する。この準備ステップの間のヘリウムの流束は、ベースラインが確立するまで5〜10cc/分に保つ(ヘリウムのみ存在)。次いで、透過組成物の下流におけて組成a下流及びb下流を監視しながら、対象のa上流及びb上流の組成を有する二元気体混合物を、40〜50cc/分に保たれた流速で上流に適用する。MSの信号の変化が観察されなければ、系は定常状態にあると考えられる。透過選択性は下記の式(5)を用いて計算される。
sod−ZMOFのアセトニトリル交換試料について行なったアルゴン吸着試験は、ミクロ多孔質材料に代表的な可逆的I型等温線を示す(図6)。sod−ZMOF結晶の見掛けのBET及びLangmuir比表面積並びに細孔容積は、それぞれ474m2/g−1、590m2/g−1並びに0.18cm3/g−1と決定した。sod−ZMOF細孔ウィンドウのサイズが小さいので、大分子に比べて小分子の通過を相対的に容易にする選択的な拡散推進力を提供することが期待される。これに加えて、sod−ZMOFのアニオン的な性質により、吸着/拡散特性が、またそれによって気体分離用途における特定の気体の透過特性も変化すると考えられる。

- ゼオライト様有機金属骨格を含む薄膜であって、H2よりもCO2に対して選択性を有する薄膜。
- アニオン性である、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- ゼオライト様トポロジーを有する、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- 支持体上にある、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- 前記支持体が多孔質セラミック基材である、請求項4に記載の薄膜。
- パーミアンスが他の気体よりもCO2に対して高い、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- パーミアンスがCH4よりもCO2に対して高い、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- CO2に対し、CH4の少なくとも3倍の分離係数を有する、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- パーミアンスがH2よりもCO2に対して高い、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- CO2に対し、H2の少なくとも4倍の選択性を有する、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- パーミアンスがN2よりもCO2に対して高い、請求項1に記載の薄膜。
- CO2に対し、N2の少なくとも6倍の分離係数を有する、請求項1に記載の薄膜。

- ゼオライト様有機金属骨格膜を調製する方法であって、基材をカルボン酸、イミダゾール又はピリミジン、金属塩、及び硝酸の溶液混合物と接触させてゼオライト様有機金属骨格膜を形成させるステップを含む方法。
- 前記ゼオライト様有機金属骨格膜がアニオン性である、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記ゼオライト様有機金属骨格膜がソーダライトトポロジーを有する、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記ゼオライト様有機金属骨格膜がH2よりもCO2に対して選択性を有する、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記基材を活性化するステップをさらに含む、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記基材と接触させながら、試薬を加熱するステップをさらに含む、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記基材を、試薬と接触させた後でアセトニトリルと接触させるステップをさらに含む、請求項20に記載の方法。
- アルカリ金属イオン又はアルカリ土類金属イオンとのカチオン交換によって前記ゼオライト様有機金属骨格膜を改質するステップをさらに含む、請求項20に記載の方法。
