得られた溶液に下記表1に示すモノマーを同表に示す割合で加えた。さらに、チタン原子を含む触媒(チタン触媒)(下記構造)を20μmol加え(チタン触媒中のチタン原子に対するMMAO中のアルミニウム原子のモル比:462)、室温で1時間攪拌し、モノマーを共重合させた(重合溶液:30ml)。
その後、塩酸及びメタノールを加えて、重合を停止した。揮発成分を留去した後、残渣をトルエンに溶解させ、メタノール中に滴下することによって、メタノール不溶成分を取り分けた。このようにして、ノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体を製造した。なお、実施例1〜5で得られたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体はノルボルネンとジエンとの二元共重合体であり、実施例6〜8で得られたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体はノルボルネンとジエンとオレフィンとの三元共重合体である。

その後、塩酸及びメタノールを加えて、重合を停止した。揮発成分を留去した後、残渣をトルエンに溶解させ、メタノール中に滴下することによって、メタノール不溶成分を取り分けた。このようにして、ノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体を製造した。なお、比較例1で得られたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体はノルボルネンとジエンとの二元共重合体であり、比較例2で得られたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体はノルボルネンとジエンとオレフィンとの三元共重合体である。

特定触媒を使用した本願実施例1〜5の製造方法により製造されたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体は、特定触媒以外の触媒を使用した比較例1の製造方法により製造されたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体と比較して、分子量が高かった(二元共重合体)。なお、比較例1において、得られるノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体の分子量を本願実施例1〜5の製造方法により製造されたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体と同程度にするためには、重合時間を1時間から約70時間に延ばす必要があった。
同様に、特定触媒を使用した本願実施例6〜8の製造方法により製造されたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体は、特定触媒以外の触媒を使用した比較例2の製造方法により製造されたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体と比較して、分子量が高かった(三元共重合体)。なお、比較例2において、得られるノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体の分子量を本願実施例6〜8の製造方法により製造されたノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体と同程度にするためには、重合時間を1時間から約70時間に延ばす必要があった。
以上の結果から、本願実施例の製造方法は分子量の高いノルボルネン−ジエン共重合体を効率良く製造することができることが分かった。
