Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an optical flight type distance measuring device.
An optical flight (TOF: Time of Flight) type distance measuring device is provided as a device that calculates the distance from its own device to an object without contact. The optical flight-type distance measuring device emits modulated light modulated in a pattern having a repetitive period in a space, and receives incident light including reflected light reflected by the object. Then, the optical flight type distance measuring device distributes and accumulates charges corresponding to the received incident light to a plurality of storage capacitors, and calculates the distance from the own device to the object using the sampled values (for example, Patent Documents). 1-4).
In this type of optical flight rangefinder, there is a problem that if the duty of the light emission waveform shifts, the phase shift is erroneously detected and a distance error occurs. Under such circumstances, it is required to appropriately reduce the distance error by detecting the duty of the light emission waveform and correcting the deviation of the duty. As a method of detecting the duty of the light emission waveform, there is a method of driving the light receiving element with a sequence having sensitivity to a predetermined high-order harmonic. However, when the high frequency component is attenuated due to the frequency characteristic of the signal path, there is a problem that the duty detection accuracy is lowered.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide an optical flight-type distance measuring device that can detect the duty of a light emission waveform with high accuracy.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the light emitting element emits modulated light modulated in a pattern having a repetition period into space. The driving unit drives the light emitting element. The light receiving element distributes and accumulates charges corresponding to incident light including reflected light, which is reflected from the object by the modulated light, to a plurality of storage capacitors. The control unit controls exposure of the light receiving element by combining a plurality of exposure periods corresponding to a plurality of different modulation frequencies. The signal processing unit calculates the distance from the own device to the object using the value sampled by the light receiving element. Here, the control unit controls the exposure of the light receiving element so as to be sensitive to a predetermined high-order harmonic in an exposure period corresponding to a modulation frequency lower than the highest modulation frequency among the plurality of modulation frequencies. The signal processing unit detects the duty of the light emission waveform by controlling the exposure of the light receiving element so that the control unit is sensitive to a predetermined high-order harmonic.
In the present invention, the duty shift does not depend on the modulation frequency, and the duty shift in the focus ranging exposure period in which exposure is performed at a low modulation frequency, and the fine distance exposure exposure period in which exposure is performed at a high modulation frequency. This is based on the fact that there is a correlation with the deviation of the duty. When exposure is performed by combining the exposure range of the coarse distance measurement and the exposure period of the fine distance measurement, it is assumed that the exposure is not sensitive to the fine distance exposure period but has a sensitivity to a predetermined higher-order harmonic in the exposure distance of the coarse distance measurement. In addition, the exposure of the light receiving element was controlled to detect the duty of the light emission waveform. As a result, the duty of the light emission waveform can be detected with high accuracy without being affected by the frequency characteristics of the signal path. Then, by calculating the duty deviation using the duty detected in the exposure period of the coarse distance measurement and applying the calculation result to the exposure period of the fine distance measurement, the distance error can be appropriately reduced.
(First embodiment)
Hereinafter, a first embodiment in which the present invention is applied to, for example, an in-vehicle optical flight rangefinder that can be mounted on a vehicle will be described with reference to FIGS. The object for calculating the distance from the own device is, for example, a person, a vehicle, a wall, or the like. The optical flight type
発光素子4は、変調光としての例えば赤外光を発光するLD(Laser Diode)やLED(Light Emitting Diode)等である。受光素子6は、例えばCMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor)やCCD(Charge Coupled Device)のプロセスを用いたイメージセンサ等である。
The
As shown in FIG. 2, the
The CM component removal circuit 7 avoids saturation by using the pixel configuration when there is background light at a level that cannot be ignored with respect to the modulated light. Each of the
θ=tan−1[(Q1−Q3)/(Q2−Q4)]…(1)
θ=tan−1[(ΣQk*sin(2π/N*k))/(ΣQk*cos(2π/N*k))]…(2)
FIG. 3 shows a sequence (modulation cycle: Tm, exposure period: Tw) when the
θ = tan −1 [(Q1-Q3) / (Q2-Q4)] (1)
The calculation formula (1) is a calculation formula of the phase difference based on the above four samplings, but the phase difference θ can be calculated by the following calculation formula (2) also for a general N phase.
θ = tan −1 [(ΣQk * sin (2π / N * k)) / (ΣQk * cos (2π / N * k))] (2)
FIG. 4 shows a differential output sequence. The
As described in [Problems to be Solved by the Invention], in the optical flight-type
In the present invention, attention is paid to the fact that the occurrence of duty deviation does not depend on the modulation frequency. In general, since a phase rotation occurs in a phase-type distance measuring sensor, there is a trade-off between a measurable distance and accuracy. That is, accuracy is obtained at a high modulation frequency, but the measurable distance is shortened, whereas at a low modulation frequency, the measurable distance is increased, but accuracy is sacrificed. For this reason, in general, distance measurement is performed by combining a plurality of modulation frequencies to achieve both a long measurable distance and accuracy. The exposure range of the focus ranging (exposure period corresponding to the low modulation frequency) in which exposure is performed at such a low modulation frequency and the exposure period of fine ranging (exposure period corresponding to the high modulation frequency) in which exposure is performed at a high modulation frequency. In the present invention, the exposure of the
As methods for realizing “0”, there are, for example, first to third methods described below.
In the first method, as shown in FIG. 8, “0” is realized by providing a period in which the modulation switches 13a and 13b are simultaneously turned on, that is, a period in which both TG1 and TG2 are “H”. The charges generated in the
In the second method, as shown in FIG. 9, a
In the third method, as shown in FIG. 10, one of Qa and Qb is discarded, and “0” is realized by integrating two samples. That is, the period for discarding the charges accumulated during the period when TG2 is “H” and the period for discarding the charges accumulated during the period when TG1 is “H” are integrated. In the first method described above, it is necessary to provide a period in which both TG1 and TG2 are “H”. In the second method, it is necessary to provide a period in which both TG1 and TG2 are “L”. The method 3 does not need to provide such a period, and it is sufficient to perform control to invert TG1 and TG2, and there is an advantage that simple control is sufficient.
FIG. 11 is a sequence for controlling the exposure of the
As shown in FIG. 12, the digital
Here, the duty shift of the light emission waveform will be described. As shown in FIG. 13, when the duty rises because the rise time (tr) and the fall time (tf) of the waveform are not equal, the duty deviation of the light emission waveform during the exposure period of the focus distance measurement. There is a correlation between the deviation of the duty of the light emission waveform during the fine ranging exposure period. This is because even when the modulation frequency is increased when changing from coarse distance measurement to fine distance measurement, the rising period and the falling period do not change before and after the modulation frequency is increased.
