Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a battery module in which a plurality of battery cells and a bus bar are connected.
A battery module mounted on a vehicle or the like generally has a plurality of battery cells electrically connected by a bus bar. In this type of battery module, the battery cell terminal and the bus bar are generally fixed by a method such as welding or brazing.
By the way, the technique which interrupts | blocks the electrical connection of a battery cell and a bus bar at the time of battery abnormality is introduced. For example,
However, even when the fuse is blown, the battery reaction itself of the battery cell does not stop. Therefore, for example, the blown fuses may come into contact again due to vibrations during traveling of the vehicle, or the blown fuse may come into contact with the terminal portion, and the battery cell and the bus bar may be electrically connected again. .
Therefore, even with the technique introduced in
This invention is made | formed in view of the said situation, and it aims at providing the technique which can insulate a bus-bar and a battery cell at the time of battery abnormality.

The battery module of the present invention that solves the above problems is
A plurality of battery cells;
A first bus bar portion that electrically connects one terminal portion of each of the battery cells;
A second bus bar portion for electrically connecting the other terminal portion of each of the battery cells;
An expansion element;
The first bus bar portion includes a plurality of fuses, and a first bus bar main body connecting the one terminal portion of the battery cell via the fuses,
The expansion element increases in volume when the fuse is blown due to overheating of the battery cell and obstructs electrical connection between the battery cell and the first bus bar portion.
According to the battery module of the present invention, the bus bar and the battery cell can be insulated when the battery is abnormal.

FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the battery module of Example 1 shown in FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view schematically showing a state where the battery module of Example 1 is cut at the position XX in FIG. The ellipse in FIG. 3 shows a state where the corresponding part is enlarged. FIG. 4 is an explanatory view schematically showing the battery module of Example 1 when the fuse is blown by overheating of the battery cell. Hereinafter, in the embodiments, the terms “up”, “down”, “left”, “right”, “front”, and “rear” refer to “upper, lower, left, right, front, and rear” shown in FIG. In the examples, the axial direction Y of the battery cell refers to the vertical direction shown in FIG. In addition, the axial direction Y in members other than a battery cell refers to the direction which corresponds to the axial direction Y in the assembly | attachment state shown in FIG.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the battery module of Example 1 includes a
As shown in FIG. 2, the battery module of Example 1 has 16
More specifically, each upper
In the battery module of the first embodiment, the upper
Each upper connection opening 22 is provided at a position facing the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
The
Note that the hole diameter of the upper connection opening 22 is also slightly smaller than the diameter of the
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, in the normal battery module, the opening
As described above, one end of the
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, each lower
The
The opening
By the way, when a current exceeding the standard value flows in the electric circuit including the
The
At this time, the
In other words, the blown
Furthermore, the
In the battery module of the first embodiment, the upper
In addition, the battery module of the present invention has a plurality of battery cells, and all the battery cells in the battery module of the present invention are connected to the first bus bar body through the fuses as in the first embodiment. preferable. But in some cases. Only some of the battery cells may be connected to the first bus bar main body via a fuse, and some of the other battery cells may be connected to the first bus bar main body via a conductive material having no fuse function. In this case, the expansion element may be disposed only in the vicinity of the fuse. If a plurality of battery cells are connected in series, the electric circuit is opened even when the battery is abnormal, and the expansion element near the fuse hinders the electrical connection between the battery cell and the first bus bar portion again. . For this reason, also in this case, as in the first embodiment, it is possible to obtain a battery module that can hinder the electrical connection between the bus bar and the battery cell when the battery is abnormal.
By the way, in the battery module of the present invention, when the fuse is blown due to overheating of the battery cell, the expansion element increases in volume with high reliability, and is interposed between the battery cell and the first bus bar body with high reliability. Even in the normal state, the expansion element may be disposed at a position close to the gap between the battery cell and the first bus bar body, more specifically near the fuse. Therefore, the expansion element is preferably fixed to the opening
In the battery module of Example 1, the expansion element was composed of a thermally decomposable polypropylene foam precursor, which is one type of foam resin precursor, but the expansion element may increase in volume when the
(Example 2)
The battery module of Example 2 has only one set of an insulating mechanism including a first bus bar portion having a fuse and an expansion element, and the expansion element is integrated with the first bus bar main body instead of the spacer. The battery module is substantially the same as the battery module of Example 1 except that an urging element is interposed between the bus bar part and the bus bar part. FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view schematically illustrating the battery module of the second embodiment. 6 is an essential part enlarged cross-sectional view schematically showing a state where the battery module of Example 2 is cut at the same position as the XX position in FIG. FIG. 7 is an explanatory view schematically showing the battery module of Example 2 when the fuse is blown by overheating of the
Hereinafter, the difference between the battery module of Example 2 and the battery module of Example 1 will be mainly described.
As shown in FIG. 5, the
The upper
The
A substantially ring-shaped
In the normal state shown in FIG. 6, the lower bus bar
As shown in FIG. 7, in the battery module of Example 2, the
Further, at this time, the
In the battery module of Example 2, the urging
