Claims (10)
- 各々が複数のサブ画素を含む複数の画素を含み、前記画素の中で2つの画素は、5つの前記サブ画素を含み、前記2つの画素は、前記5つのサブ画素の中の一つのサブ画素を互いに共有する表示パネルと、
4つの前記サブ画素と同一の面積を有する領域に基づいて設定されたフィルタを含み、入力データを基にレッド、グリーン、ブルー、及びホワイトデータを有するRGBWのデータを生成し、前記RGBWのデータに前記フィルタを適用して前記サブ画素の各々に対応する出力データを生成するタイミングコントローラと、
前記サブ画素にゲート信号を伝送するゲートドライバと、
前記サブ画素に前記出力データに対応するデータ電圧を提供するデータドライバと、を含む表示装置。 - 前記サブ画素は、2行4列、又は4行2列に配列された8つのサブ画素からなるサブ画素のグループ単位に反復的に配列され、前記サブ画素のグループは、2つのレッドのサブ画素、2つのグリーンのサブ画素、2つのブルーのサブ画素、及び2つのホワイトのサブ画素を含む請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素の各々の横縦比は、実質的に1:1である請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記サブ画素の各々の横縦比は、実質的に1:2.5である請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記サブ画素の中で2行5列に配列されたサブ画素は、実質的に正方形をなす請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、
前記入力データを線形化させるガンマ補正部と、
前記線形化された入力データをレッド、グリーン、ブルー、及びホワイト色域にマッピングさせて前記RGBWのデータを生成するガンママッピング部と、
前記RGBWのデータを前記画素の各々に対応する単位画素のデータ毎に分析して飽和された色相データを有するか否かに関する情報を有する飽和信号を生成する飽和データ決定部と、
前記RGBWのデータをレンダリングして前記サブ画素の各々に対応するレンダリングデータを生成するサブ画素レンダリング部と、
前記レンダリングデータを非線形化させる逆ガンマ補正部を含む請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記フィルタは、
前記レンダリングデータの中でターゲット画素に対応するデータを前記RGBWのデータの中で前記ターゲット画素と前記ターゲット画素に隣接する周囲画素に対応するデータとに基づいて生成する再サンプリングフィルタと、
前記RGBWのデータが有するレッド、グリーン、又はブルー色相を含むドットパターン、又は斜線パターンを補償するボックスフィルタを含む請求項6に記載の表示装置。 - 前記サブ画素レンダリング部は、
前記RGBWのデータに前記再サンプリングフィルタを適用しながら、歪曲されることを補償するメタ−シャープフィルタと、
前記RGBWのデータが有するレッド、グリーン、又はブルー色相を含む水平ラインのパターン、又は垂直ラインのパターンに前記再サンプリングフィルタを適用しながら、歪曲されることを補償するセルフ−シャープフィルタと、
第1入力端及び第2入力端を含み、前記RGBWのデータを分析してドットパターンや斜線パターンが検出されるか否かにしたがって前記第1入力端と前記第2入力端に受信されるデータの中でいずれか1つを選択的に出力するパターン検出フィルタと、
第3入力端及び第4入力端を含み、前記飽和信号を分析して飽和された色相が検出されるか否かにしたがって前記第3入力端と前記第4入力端に受信されるデータの中でいずれか1つを選択的に出力する飽和色相検出フィルタをさらに含む請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - 前記パターン検出フィルタの前記第1入力端には、前記RGBWのデータに前記再サンプリングフィルタを適用したデータと前記RGBWのデータに前記セルフ−シャープフィルタを適用したデータとを合わせたデータが入力され、
前記パターン検出フィルタの前記第2入力端には、前記RGBWのデータに前記ボックスフィルタを適用したデータが入力される請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - 前記飽和色相検出フィルタの前記第3入力端には、前記RGBWのデータに前記再サンプリングフィルタを適用したデータと前記RGBWのデータに前記メタ−シャープフィルタを適用したデータとを合わせたデータが入力され、
前記飽和色相検出フィルタの前記第4入力端には、前記パターン検出フィルタから出力されたデータが入力される請求項7に記載の表示装置。
