Abstract
Description
以下の試験を実行して、上記で論じた本発明の実施形態において提示される原理を評価した。試験結果は、本明細書で論じられる原理について説明するために組み入れられるものであり、本発明の範囲を限定することを意図するものではない。加えて、試験のうちのいくつかでは、銅(Cu)電極を用いたが、成長培地を再使用する場合、銅の殺藻剤特性に起因して、銅電極は通常用いないということを上記の議論に照らして理解されたい。
試験は、凝集、細胞クラッキング、および存在する場合の他の付随的利益におけるMX(参照により本明細書に組み込まれる、米国特許第6,279,611号において開示されている、過渡的キャビテーション型発電機およびミキサー)の価値を決定するためのものであった。
プロトコール:タンクの最下部にアノードプレート配置して、タンクを準備した。カソードストリップ(Al)を、アノード(Cu)から約4インチおいて準備した。アノードおよびカソードのいずれも、タンクの全長に沿って配置した。低密度の藻類溶液(約200mg/l)を、タンク内のカソードプレートのちょうど上方に投入し、生成物を、MXによる循環にかけた。ポンプにより駆動される、生成物への微泡発生と同時に、低電圧:4ボルトおよび3.25ampを印加した。2分間にわたり全体を混合したところで、全ての工程を停止させた。
プロトコール:集塊化/クラッキングシステムにおけるMXの使用とMXの不使用との間の差違について研究する。2つの同一量の生成物を処理した。良好な生成物の密度は、約400mg/lであると考えられた。
Claims (20)
- 藻類を採取および脱水するためのシステムであって、
藻類溶液を保持することが可能な容器と;
容器内に配置されたカソードと;
カソードから約1インチ〜約10インチの間の距離で容器内に配置されたアノードと;
カソードおよびアノードに電気的に接続され、容器が藻類溶液を保持する場合に、カソードとアノードとの間に電圧を供給するように構成された電圧供給源であって、カソードとアノードとの間の電圧が、藻類溶液中に水素ガスの気泡を発生させ、この気泡が藻類溶液中の藻類細胞に付着して、藻類細胞を藻類溶液の表面に浮揚させる電圧供給源と
を含むシステム。 - カソードがプレートであり、アノードが、各々がカソードプレートの上方約1インチ〜約10インチの間の距離で配置される、複数のアノードロッドのうちの1つである、請求項1に記載のシステム。

- 藻類を採取および脱水するための方法であって、
藻類溶液を、
藻類溶液を保持することが可能な容器;
容器内に配置されたカソード;および
カソードから約1インチ〜約10インチの間の距離で容器内に配置されたアノード
を含む藻類脱水装置に供給するステップと、
電圧を、カソードとアノードとの間に供給して、カソードにおいて水素ガスの気泡を発生させ、藻類溶液を通過させながら、この気泡を藻類細胞に付着させ、藻類細胞を藻類溶液の表面に浮揚させるステップと、
浮揚する藻類細胞を表面から除去するステップと
を含む方法。 - プロトン性溶媒を藻類溶液に添加するステップ
をさらに含む、請求項11に記載の方法。 - プロトン性溶媒が、藻類溶液に対しギ酸、n−ブタノール、イソプロパノール、n−プロパノール、エタノール、メタノール、または酢酸のうちの1つを含む、請求項12に記載の方法。
- ギ酸、n−ブタノール、イソプロパノール、n−プロパノール、エタノール、メタノール、および酢酸のうちの1つが、約0.05容量%の濃度で添加される、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 藻類を成長培地から採取および脱水するための方法であって、
電界を、藻類を含有する成長培地内に浸漬された、少なくとも1つのアノードと少なくとも1つのカソードとの間で発生させるステップであって、少なくとも1つのアノードおよび少なくとも1つのカソードが、電界を発生させる場合に、成長培地内に、水素または酸素の気泡を発生させるように構成されており、水素または酸素の気泡が、成長培地内の藻類に付着し、藻類を成長培地の表面に浮揚させるステップと、
浮揚している藻類を成長培地の表面から除去するステップと
を含む方法。 - 少なくとも1つのアノードおよび少なくとも1つのカソードが、1本または複数のアノードロッドの下方に位置するカソードプレートを含む、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つのアノードおよび少なくとも1つのカソードが、最下部のカソード層、中間部のアノード層、および最上部のカソード層を含む三層式スタックを含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 最下部のカソード層がプレートを含み、中間部のアノード層が複数のアノードロッドを含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 成長培地が、成長培地からの藻類の分離を増強するために酢酸を含有する、請求項18に記載の方法。
- 電界が藻類を塊に凝集させ、この塊に水素または酸素の気泡が付着し、それにより塊を表面に浮揚させる、請求項15に記載の方法。
