Claims (15)
- 部品を加工するためのマンドレルであって、
全長に沿って少なくとも1つの可撓性の部分を備える外側スリーブであって、前記可撓性の部分は前記スリーブが所望の外形へと曲がることを可能にする、外側スリーブと、
前記スリーブ内にある概して可撓性の内側コアと
を備えるマンドレル。 - 前記外側スリーブは金属である、請求項1に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記外側スリーブは実質的にU字形の断面を有する、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記内側コアは、構造発泡材、エラストマー、および複合材料の積層板のうちの1つを含む、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記外側スリーブは少なくとも3つの側部を備え、
前記スリーブの前記可撓性の部分は、複数の離間された概して平行のスロットを、前記外側スリーブの側部のうちの1つに含む、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のマンドレル。 - 前記スロットを備える前記側部は、一対の丸みのある縁によって前記3つの側部のうちの他の2つに連結される、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記外側スリーブは金属から形成され、
前記内側コアは、軽量のポリマーであり、前記外側スリーブを実質的に満たす、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載のマンドレル。 - 端同士が共に連結された複数の前記外側スリーブをさらに備える、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記外側スリーブは、工具面を定める側部を有すると共に複数のスロットが設けられた金属であり、前記複数のスロットを通して、前記工具面が前記スリーブの前記可撓性の部分に沿って曲がることを可能とし、
前記コアは、前記外側スリーブに加えられる力に対処するのに十分な強度を有する軽量のポリマーである、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載のマンドレル。 - 部品を加工するための可撓性マンドレルを製作する方法であって、
外側スリーブを形成することと、
可撓性コアを前記外側スリーブの内部に配置することと、
前記スリーブが所望の外形へと曲がることを可能にするスロットを、前記スリーブの全長の少なくとも一部分に沿って前記外側スリーブに形成することと
を含む方法。 - 前記外側スリーブを形成することは、金属を長尺の通路部材へと形成することを含む、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記外側スリーブを形成することは、前記金属から形成された通路部材を押し出すことを含む、請求項10または11に記載の方法。
- 前記スロットを形成することは、前記スロットを前記外側スリーブで切断するためにワイヤEDMを用いて行われる、請求項10から12のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記可撓性コアを前記外側スリーブの内部に形成することは、
構造発泡材のブロックをある大きさに切断することと、
前記発泡材ブロックを前記外側スリーブに挿入することと、
前記発泡材ブロックを前記外側スリーブに接合することと
を含む、請求項10から13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - 前記可撓性コアを前記外側スリーブの内部に形成することは、
前記スリーブにポリマー充填剤を満たすことと、
前記ポリマー充填剤を硬化させることと
を含む、請求項10から14のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
