The
Examples of the paper excellent in water absorption include the following.
That is, as described in JP-A-6-306793, in order to increase the paper surface picking strength required during offset printing, the penetration of a coating agent such as a paper strength enhancer into the paper layer is suppressed. Therefore, paper is made by adding an internal sizing agent to the pulp slurry by a conventional method. When paper strength enhancers such as polyvinyl alcohol, starch, modified starch, and acrylic resin emulsion are applied to this paper with a size press, at the same time, an interface that has a wetting and penetrating effect on water in the coating solution of the paper strength enhancer. When the activator was added and applied, excessive internal penetration of the size press coating solution was suppressed by the sizing agent internally added to the paper material, and the surface strength was increased, which was added to the size press coating agent. Due to the action of a wet and permeable surfactant, the effect of the sizing agent is reduced and water absorption becomes easy. When the coating agent is applied to both sides of the paper, the surface strength of both the front and back sides of the paper is high, and a paper that is easily absorbable in all layers can be obtained. Further, if the above coating agent is applied to one side of paper, the surface strength is high only on one side, and a paper with easy water absorption on one side and poor water absorption on one side can be obtained.
The most commonly used internal sizing agent is a rosin-based sizing agent. Maleic anhydride or fumaric acid is thermally added to the rosin to form a maleated rosin or fumarated rosin, and a reinforced rosin made into a solution by adding an alkali. There are sizing agents and emulsion sizing agents dispersed in water using an emulsifier. The rosin sizing agent is used in combination with aluminum sulfate as fixability to the pulp and as a hydrophobizing agent. The synthetic sizing agent is a neutral sizing agent obtained by converting C 3 and C 4 fractions obtained by pyrolyzing the raw material naphtha into a 3 to 4 oligomer and then reacting with maleic anhydride to saponify the alkali. They can be classified into alkyl ketene dimers, alkenyl succinic anhydrides, etc., and any of these can be used in the present invention.
The surfactant that is easily absorbed in water by using a paper strength enhancer together with the paper containing a sizing agent preferably has water wettability and permeability, such as polyoxyethylene nonyl ether, polyoxyethylene lauryl ether, Anionic, nonionic, cationic and amphoteric surfactants such as sodium alkylnaphthalene sulfonate, fatty acid polyethylene glycol ester, sodium lauryl polyoxyethylene sulfate, and polyethylene glycol oxynonyl phenyl ether can be used in the present invention.
As described above, the water penetration prevention ability of the paper expressed by the sizing agent added in the pulp slurry is added to the paper strength enhancer applied by the size press by the surfactant having a wetting and penetrating effect. In order to reduce this, it is important to control the balance of the type, combination, and amount of the sizing agent and surfactant used. If this balance is lost, the surface strength is maintained, but the size effect remains, and conversely, There is a possibility that troubles such as lack of surface strength capable of offset printing occur due to water absorption. In addition, the internal sizing agent to be used is that even if a surfactant-added coating solution is applied only to one side of the paper for the purpose of single-sided easy water absorption or single-sided water repellency, the entire layer may absorb water in some cases. The combination of surfactants in the size press coating liquid, the setting of the type and the amount added are particularly important. Usually, the sizing agent is 0.01 to 5 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the pulp, and the surfactant is about 1 to 30 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the paper strength enhancer. Moreover, the coating amount of the paper strength enhancer with respect to paper is about 0.01-1.0 mass%.
The
As described above, the coaster 1 according to the present embodiment is made of paper and can have various outer shapes. The front shape can be freely selected according to the purpose and application, such as a square shape, a circular shape, an elliptical shape, and a character shape.
