<施工試験>
本発明の施工に関して次のような試験を行った。
縁石の一方の側面に長手方向に沿って発泡ゴムシール部材(EPDM発泡ゴム、厚さ20mm)を貼着した後、縁石を所定の場所に設置し、発泡ゴムシール部材が埋没するように縁石の周囲にアスファルト舗装を敷設した。
アスファルト舗装の温度は、工場出荷時は174℃及び施工時は約170℃であり、敷設直後は143.3℃であった。
アスファルト舗装が常温となった後、アスファルト舗装を除去し、発泡ゴムシール部材の状態を確認したところ、熱による劣化及び損傷等は観られなかった。
この施工試験により、耐熱性を有する市販の発泡ゴムシール部材を利用して本発明を実施可能であることが確認された。

After the asphalt pavement reached room temperature, the asphalt pavement was removed and the state of the foam rubber seal member was confirmed. As a result, no deterioration or damage due to heat was observed.
This construction test confirmed that the present invention can be implemented using a commercially available foamed rubber seal member having heat resistance.

<防草試験>
本発明の防草効果に関して次のような試験を行った。
一方の小口に発泡ゴムシール部材(EPDM発泡ゴム、厚さ20mm)を貼着した6本の縁石を、図9に示した手順に従って直線状に設置し、放置した。設置場所は、屋外であり、風通しよく、土・砂・水・光が遮られない場所とした。
設置から4年経過後に観察したところ、縁石と縁石の間に草の発芽及び生長は観られなかった。
その後、縁石の表面に、敢えて草の種子を播き肥料を与えて経過を観察したところ、3ヶ月後、1箇所の縁石と縁石の間の表面に草の発芽が観られた。しかし、発芽した草の根の生長は表面で止まり縁石と縁石の間には侵入せず、草は枯れて死滅した。発泡ゴムシール部材の気泡孔のためと確信した。
この防草試験により、本発明による防草効果が確認された。
