Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a conductive paste used for forming a conductive pattern such as an electrode of an electronic device by gravure offset printing, for example.
In general, photolithography is widely used as a high-definition pattern forming technique in electronic devices. However, since photolithography is a subtractive process of forming a pattern by removing a material, there are problems such as a low use efficiency of the material, a complicated process, and a large facility for a wet process.
On the other hand, printing methods such as gravure printing and gravure offset printing have attracted attention as additive processes for adding materials to desired locations. For example, according to gravure offset printing, a paste-like electronic material (ink) is supplied to a gravure plate, transferred to a blanket made of, for example, silicone, and further transferred to a substrate on a stage. Can be formed.
In such a printing method, since the ink is transferred to the substrate through the plate, good transferability is required. In particular, since gravure offset printing transfers ink from a gravure plate to a substrate via a blanket, it is necessary to transfer the ink reliably in each process. In continuous printing, the transition from blanket to substrate is necessary. It is essential that the rate is 100%. In addition, it is necessary to suppress pattern shape defects such as a beard defect in a pattern that causes electrical characteristic deterioration (short circuit failure) due to ink stringing or static electricity. For this reason, pastes having appropriate rheological properties and excellent printability are required.
On the other hand, when forming an electrode for a display or the like, a pattern is formed with a conductive paste containing inorganic conductive particles and an organic binder, and this is baked at a high temperature to thermally decompose the binder and sinter the inorganic components. As a result, good conductivity can be obtained. However, in recent years, for example, application to flexible devices such as electronic paper using a flexible substrate such as PET as a base material and devices having low heat resistance such as a touch panel, electrode formation by low-temperature baking at 250 ° C. or lower is required. ing. Although various proposals have been made on thermosetting conductive pastes that can be fired at a low temperature (see, for example, Patent Document 1), it is difficult to develop a low resistance on the order of 10 −5 Ω · cm. is there.
Thus, when forming a pattern in an electronic device by a printing method, not only good printability of the paste but also a pattern can be formed without using a high-temperature process, and the pattern to be formed is good. It is required to obtain excellent electrical characteristics. However, there is a problem that it is difficult to obtain a paste satisfying these simultaneously.
An object of the present invention is to provide a conductive paste that has good printability and can form a pattern that can obtain good electrical characteristics without using a high-temperature process.
In order to solve such a problem, the conductive paste of one embodiment of the present invention includes a carboxylic acid-containing resin, conductive particles, a polyhydric alcohol compound, and an organic solvent.
With such a configuration, it is possible to form a pattern having good gravure offset printability and capable of obtaining good electrical characteristics without using a high temperature process.
In the conductive paste of one embodiment of the present invention, the hydroxyl group in the polyhydric alcohol compound is preferably contained in an amount of 0.1 to 2.0 molar equivalents relative to the carboxyl group in the carboxylic acid-containing resin. By setting the molar equivalent within this range, it becomes possible to improve the solvent resistance and adhesion of the pattern to be formed.
In the conductive paste of one embodiment of the present invention, the polyhydric alcohol compound is preferably nonvolatile. By making it non-volatile, it is possible to prevent the cross-linking agent from being scattered during firing and to allow the three-dimensional cross-linking reaction with the binder resin to proceed efficiently.
The conductive pattern of one embodiment of the present invention is formed on a substrate by gravure offset printing using the above-described conductive paste of one embodiment of the present invention. In such a conductive pattern, it is possible to obtain a good pattern shape without a beard defect and good electrical characteristics.
And it is preferable that such a conductive pattern is obtained by baking at 100-250 degreeC. Good electrical conductivity can be obtained without performing high-temperature baking, and it can be used for flexible substrates and devices with low heat resistance.
According to the conductive paste of one embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to form a pattern that has good printability and can obtain good electrical characteristics without using a high-temperature process.
Hereinafter, the conductive paste of one embodiment of the present invention will be described.
The conductive paste of this embodiment is characterized by containing a carboxylic acid-containing resin, conductive particles, a polyhydric alcohol compound, and an organic solvent. With such a configuration, it is possible to form a pattern that has good printability in gravure offset printing and can obtain good electrical characteristics without using a high-temperature process.
The carboxylic acid-containing resin in the conductive paste of the present embodiment imparts printability and remains in the coating film even after the conductive paste is applied, dried and cured, and has good adhesion to the substrate, flex resistance, Used as a binder to obtain physical properties such as hardness. Such a carboxylic acid-containing resin is not particularly limited, and a resin containing a carboxyl group in the molecule can be used.

Specific examples include the resins listed below, but are not limited thereto.
(1) A carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained by copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid such as (meth) acrylic acid and one or more compounds having an unsaturated double bond.
(2) Monofunctional epoxy such as butyl glycidyl ether or phenyl glycidyl ether in a copolymer of unsaturated carboxylic acid such as (meth) acrylic acid and one or more other compounds having unsaturated double bonds Carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained by adding a compound.
(3) Copolymerization of a compound having an unsaturated double bond with an epoxy group such as glycidyl (meth) acrylate or 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl (meth) acrylate, and a compound having an unsaturated double bond other than that A carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained by reacting a combined product with a saturated carboxylic acid such as propionic acid and reacting a polybasic acid anhydride with the generated secondary hydroxyl group.
(4) A compound having a hydroxyl group such as butyl alcohol is reacted with a copolymer of an acid anhydride having an unsaturated double bond such as maleic anhydride and a compound having an unsaturated double bond other than that. Obtained carboxylic acid-containing resin.
(5) A carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained by reacting a polyfunctional epoxy compound with a saturated monocarboxylic acid and reacting the resulting hydroxyl group with a saturated or unsaturated polybasic acid anhydride.
(6) A hydroxyl group- and carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained by reacting a hydroxyl group-containing polymer such as a polyvinyl alcohol derivative with a saturated or unsaturated polybasic acid anhydride.
(7) Reaction of polyfunctional epoxy compound, saturated monocarboxylic acid, compound having at least one alcoholic hydroxyl group in one molecule and one reactive group other than alcoholic hydroxyl group that reacts with epoxy group A carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained by reacting a product with a saturated or unsaturated polybasic acid anhydride.
(8) A saturated or unsaturated polybasic acid with respect to the primary hydroxyl group in the modified oxetane resin obtained by reacting a saturated monocarboxylic acid with a polyfunctional oxetane compound having at least two oxetane rings in one molecule. A carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained by reacting an anhydride.
(9) After reacting a saturated monocarboxylic acid with a polyfunctional epoxy resin and then reacting with a polybasic acid anhydride, a compound having one oxirane ring in the molecule is further reacted. Carboxylic acid-containing resin obtained.
Among these, it is particularly preferable to use the carboxylic acid-containing resins (1), (2) and (3). These can arbitrarily adjust the molecular weight, the glass transition point, and the like, and can appropriately adjust the printing suitability of the paste and the adhesion to the substrate.
Moreover, it is preferable that the acid value of such carboxylic acid containing resin is 40-200 mgKOH / g. When the acid value of the carboxylic acid-containing resin is less than 40 mgKOH / g, the cohesive strength of the paste is reduced, and transfer defects are likely to occur during printing. On the other hand, if it exceeds 200 mgKOH / g, the viscosity of the paste becomes too high, and it becomes necessary to add a large amount of a crosslinking agent. More preferably, it is 45-150 mgKOH / g.
In such a carboxylic acid-containing resin, the number average molecular weight (Mn) is preferably 3000 to 50000 from the viewpoint of printability. If the number average molecular weight is less than 3000, transfer failure during printing tends to occur, and it becomes difficult to form a good conductive pattern. On the other hand, if the number average molecular weight exceeds 50000, whisker defects, line waviness and the like due to ink stringing tend to occur during printing. More preferably, it is 5000-30000.
The number average molecular weight is a standard polystyrene equivalent value measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC).
The conductive particles in the conductive paste of the present embodiment are used for imparting conductivity in the pattern to be formed. Examples of the metal constituting such conductive particles include Ag, Au, Pt, Pd, Ni, Cu, Al, Sn, Pb, Zn, Fe, Ir, Os, Rh, W, Mo, and Ru. These metals can be used alone or as an alloy. Moreover, you may use what formed different metal coating layers in these metals, such as Ag particle | grains which coat | covered Cu. Further, tin oxide (SnO 2 ), indium oxide (In 2 O 3 ), ITO (Indium Tin Oxide), or the like can also be used. Of these, Ag is particularly preferably used.
As the shape, various shapes such as a spherical shape, a flake shape, and a dentrite shape can be used. However, in consideration of printability and dispersibility in the paste, a spherical shape having an aspect ratio of 1 to 1.5. It is preferable to use a thing as a main body.
When using a spherical particle, the SEM diameter (average particle diameter of 10 random conductive particles observed at 10,000 times using a SEM (scanning electron microscope)) is 0.1 to 5 μm. Is preferably used. When the average particle size is less than 0.1 μm, it becomes difficult for the conductive particles to come into contact with each other, and it becomes difficult to obtain sufficient conductivity. On the other hand, when the average particle diameter exceeds 5 μm, it becomes difficult to obtain the linearity of the formed pattern edge. More preferably, it is 0.5-2.0 micrometers. In addition, it is preferable to use a 0.5-7.0 micrometer thing by the volume average particle diameter measured by the micro track | truck.
When using Ag particles, the tap density is preferably 3.0 to 7.0 g / cm 3 . When the tap density is less than 3.0 g / cm 3 , the density of the conductive powder of the circuit pattern to be formed is lowered and it becomes difficult to obtain a low resistance circuit pattern, and the tap density is 3.0 to 7.0 g / cm. By making it the range of 3 , it becomes possible to obtain the electrically conductive paste which has low resistance and favorable printability. More preferably, it is 4.0-6.0 g / cm < 3 >.
Moreover, it is preferable that a specific surface area is 0.1-2.0 m < 2 > / g. When the specific surface area is less than 0.1 m 2 / g, sedimentation is likely to occur during storage. On the other hand, when the specific surface area exceeds 2.0 m 2 / g, the oil absorption is increased and the fluidity of the paste is impaired. More preferably, it is 0.5-1.5 m < 2 > / g.
The blending ratio of such conductive particles is preferably 85 to 97% by mass based on the nonvolatile content of the conductive paste (the component that does not volatilize from the paste by drying and remains in the film). If it is less than 85% by mass, it will be difficult to obtain sufficient electrical conductivity, while if it exceeds 97% by mass, the fluidity of the paste will be impaired and it will be difficult to impart printability. More preferably, it is 87-95 mass%.
The polyhydric alcohol compound in the conductive paste of the present embodiment has a function as a cross-linking agent, and reacts with a carboxyl group in the carboxylic acid-containing resin without deteriorating printability, thereby forming a three-dimensional network chain structure. It is used to form and improve the solvent resistance and adhesion of the formed pattern.
Such a polyhydric alcohol compound is preferably non-volatile in order to prevent the reaction rate with the carboxyl group in the binder resin from being reduced due to scattering of the crosslinking agent component during firing. Here, the term “non-volatile” means that the boiling point is 200 ° C. or higher or no boiling point at normal pressure (generally 1.013 MPa).
Such a polyhydric alcohol compound can be used in the form of a liquid or a solid as long as it is non-volatile, but a solid is preferred from the viewpoint of printability. The melting point in the case of a solid is preferably 50 to 300 ° C. When the melting point exceeds 300 ° C., it becomes difficult to react with the carboxyl group at the time of firing, the progress of the crosslinking reaction is insufficient, the solvent resistance and the adhesiveness are likely to be insufficient, and a polyhydric alcohol having a melting point of 50 to 300 ° C. By doing so, it becomes possible to obtain a conductive paste with good printability and a conductive pattern with good durability. More preferably, it is 50-250 degreeC.
The hydroxyl group contained in the polyhydric alcohol compound is preferably a primary hydroxyl group. Specific examples of such polyhydric alcohol compounds include ethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, neopentyl glycol, trimethylolpropane, ditrimethylolpropane, pentaerythritol, dipentaerythritol, glycerin, Examples include sorbitol, various polyester polyols, polyether polyols, and other organic compounds having a hydroxyethyl group (for example, tris (2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate).
The content of such a polyhydric alcohol compound is preferably 0.1 to 2.0 molar equivalents per 1 molar equivalent of carboxyl groups in the carboxylic acid-containing resin. If it is less than 0.1 molar equivalent, the crosslinking density is too low and sufficient solvent resistance and adhesion cannot be obtained. On the other hand, if it exceeds 2.0 molar equivalent, the amount of the crosslinking agent is excessively increased. Providing printability tends to be difficult. More preferably, it is 0.25 to 1.5 molar equivalent.
Such a polyhydric alcohol compound cross-linking agent may be used in combination with a known catalyst or accelerator selected according to the type. The catalyst is preferably an acid catalyst, and can be selected from known acid catalysts such as Bronsted acid and Lewis acid.
The organic solvent in the conductive paste of this embodiment is used to adjust the conductive paste to a viscosity suitable for gravure offset printing. Any organic solvent may be used as long as it can be dissolved without chemically reacting with the carboxylic acid-containing resin. Specifically, for example, toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, isobutyl alcohol, 1-butanol, diacetone alcohol, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, propylene glycol monomethyl ether, propylene glycol monoethyl ether, Propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate, terpineol, methyl ethyl ketone, carbitol, carbitol acetate, butyl carbitol and the like can be mentioned, and these can be used alone or in combination of two or more.
Further, for the purpose of preventing the drying of the paste in the printing process and maintaining the transferability, a high boiling point solvent having a boiling point at 1.013 MPa in the range of 240 to 330 ° C. may be used in combination.
Such high-boiling solvents include diamylbenzene (boiling point 260-280 ° C), triamylbenzene (boiling point 300-320 ° C), n-dodecanol (boiling point 255-259 ° C), diethylene glycol (boiling point 245 ° C), diethylene glycol. Monobutyl ether acetate (boiling point 247 ° C), diethylene glycol dibutyl ether (boiling point 255 ° C), diethylene glycol monoacetate (boiling point 250 ° C), triethylene glycol (boiling point 276 ° C), triethylene glycol monomethyl ether (boiling point 249 ° C), triethylene glycol Monoethyl ether (boiling point 256 ° C.), triethylene glycol monobutyl ether (boiling point 271 ° C.), tetraethylene glycol (boiling point 327 ° C.), tetraethylene glycol monobutyl Ether (boiling point 304 ° C.), tripropylene glycol (boiling point 267 ° C.), tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether (boiling point 243 ° C.), 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate (boiling point 253 ° C.) Etc. Also, as petroleum-based hydrocarbons, AF Solvent No. 4 (boiling point 240-265 ° C.), No. 5 (boiling point = 275-306 ° C.), No. 6 (boiling point 296-317 ° C.), 7 No. (boiling point 259 to 282 ° C.), No. 0 solvent H (boiling point 245 to 265 ° C.) and the like may be included, and two or more of them may be included as necessary.
Such an organic solvent is appropriately contained so that the conductive paste has a viscosity suitable for gravure offset printing.
In such a conductive paste, in order to obtain good gravure offset printability, the concentration is preferably 50 to 1000 dPa · s as measured by a cone plate viscometer (25 ° C.). If it is less than 50 dPa · s, the ratio of the organic solvent in the paste is too large, the transferability is lowered, and it becomes difficult to perform good printing. On the other hand, if it exceeds 1000 dPa · s, it is difficult to fill the gravure plate, the scraping property with the doctor blade is deteriorated, and background stains (adhesion of paste to the non-image area) are likely to occur. More preferably, it is 100-650 dPa * s. It is also possible to dilute appropriately at the time of printing.
Moreover, it is preferable that the tack value which shows the dynamic adhesiveness of such an electrically conductive paste is 5-35. If the tack value is less than 5, the transferability at the time of printing may be inferior and the print quality may be deteriorated. On the other hand, when the tack value exceeds 35, picking of the printed material (breaking of the printed material) and jamming (the printed material clogs the printing machine) easily occur during printing. More preferably, it is 10-30. The tack value is a value measured using a rotary tack meter (generic name: incometer) under the conditions of 30 ° C. and 400 revolutions.
Furthermore, the conductive paste of the present embodiment has a metal dispersant, thixotropy imparting agent, antifoaming agent, leveling agent, diluent, plasticizer, antioxidant, metal inertness, as long as printability is not impaired. You may mix | blend additives, such as an agent, a coupling agent, and a filler.
Using such a conductive paste, a conductive pattern is formed as follows. First, a coating pattern of a conductive paste is formed on a substrate by gravure offset printing. As shown in FIG. 1, the
After the coating film pattern thus formed on the substrate is dried at 60 to 120 ° C. for 1 to 60 minutes, the coating film pattern is cured by low-temperature baking at 100 to 250 ° C. for 1 to 60 minutes. A conductive pattern is formed.
In this way, it is possible to obtain a good pattern shape with suppressed whisker defects, and to obtain a conductive pattern with low resistance and high solvent resistance. Furthermore, since such a conductive pattern can be obtained without performing high-temperature baking, it can be used as an electrode of a flexible substrate or a device having low heat resistance.
Hereinafter, although an example and a comparative example explain concretely, the present invention is not limited to these examples.
