図1と図2は、本発明の第1実施形態に係る転動部材の周面測定装置の球面ころ測定前と測定時の断面図である。図1に示すように、本実施形態の転動部材の周面測定装置1は、転動部材2の測定部の断面が略円形状である周面2Aを円周方向に測定する際に転動部材を固定する固定手段3と、前記固定手段と同軸上にある芯出し治具4とを有する。芯出し治具4には、転動部材であるころ2を押し込む為の空洞4Aが設けられており、前記ころが押し込まれる部分であるころ接触部4Bが円筒状の弾性体からなる。弾性体の材料としては、弾性変形のし易さや、強度や、ころが傷付かない適度な硬さや、耐久性や、入手性や、ころ径のバラツキの吸収性等から、ポリエチレン、ポリウレタン、ポリプロピレン等が好ましい。また、図2に示す様に、ころ接触部4Bの入口部4B1の内径寸法dは、前記ころの端面2Bの外径D1と同じ寸法か、D1より大きくすることが好ましい。そうすると、ころ2を、芯出し治具4に押し込み易く出来る。また、前記内径寸法dは、前記ころ2の最大外径部2Cの外径D2と同じ寸法か、D2より小さくすることが好ましい。そうすると、芯出し時に、ころ接触部4Bの少なくとも一部が、弾性変形しつつ、ころの外周面に接触するので、簡単にころの芯出しが出来る。また、ころ2の着脱を容易にする為には空気穴4Cを設けることが好ましい。また、芯出し治具4と同軸上である固定手段3は、アーバー3Aとマグネット3Bを含み、アーバー3Aは、図示しない回転装置に取り付けられる。マグネット3Bは、アーバー3Aに固定されている。
