Abstract
【解決手段】照明装置に、内面がマイナスフレネルレンズ形状である領域を含む構造体と、当該内面に密接する高屈折率材料層と、を設ける。なお、当該高屈折率材料層は、当該内面に密接する領域においてフレネルレンズ形状となる。これにより、当該高屈折率材料層を介して当該構造体上に設けられた面発光体の光取り出し効率を向上させることが可能である。また、当該高屈折率材料層は、少なくとも当該構造体のマイナスフレネルレンズ形状を埋めることで、当該構造体との界面においてフレネルレンズ形状である領域を含む面を備える。したがって、当該照明装置においては、高屈折率材料層の使用量を低減することが可能である。以上により、光取り出し効率が高く、且つ製造コストが低い照明装置を提供することが可能となる。

Description
図1は、本発明の一態様の照明装置の構成例を示す図である。図1に示す照明装置は、透光性を備えた構造体10と、構造体10上に設けられ且つ透光性を備えた高屈折率材料層20と、高屈折率材料層20上に設けられ且つ面発光を行うことが可能な面発光体30とを有する。さらに、高屈折率材料層20の屈折率及び面発光体30に含まれる発光領域の屈折率は、構造体10の屈折率よりも0.1以上高い(高屈折率材料層の屈折率をnA、面発光体に含まれる発光領域の屈折率をnB、構造体の屈折率をnCとした時に、nA≧nC+0.1且つnB≧nC+0.1)。なお、図1に示す照明装置は、面発光体30が発する光を高屈折率材料層20及び構造体10を介して外部へと放射する照明装置である。
次いで、図1に示した照明装置の構成要素の具体例について述べる。
構造体10は、ガラス又は樹脂などを適用することができる。なお、当該樹脂としては、ポリエステル樹脂、ポリアクリルニトリル樹脂、ポリイミド樹脂、ポリメチルメタクリレート樹脂、ポリカーボネート樹脂、ポリエーテルスルホン樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、シクロオレフィン樹脂、ポリスチレン樹脂、ポリアミドイミド樹脂、またはポリ塩化ビニル樹脂などを用いることができる。これらの材料は、種類が豊富なため安価での入手が可能であり、且つ材料選択の自由度も高い。また、材料選択の自由度が高いため、製造方法の選択の自由度も高い。
高屈折率材料層20は、高屈折率のガラス又は樹脂などを適用することができる。なお、高屈折率の樹脂としては、臭素が含まれる樹脂、硫黄が含まれる樹脂などが挙げられる。具体的には、含硫黄ポリイミド樹脂、エピスルフィド樹脂、チオウレタン樹脂、又は臭素化芳香族樹脂などを用いることができる。また、PET(ポリエチレンテレフタラート)、TAC(トリアセチルセルロース)なども用いることができる。
面発光体30としては、有機ELを利用した光源を備える構成とすることが可能である。当該光源は、第1の電極、第2の電極、並びに発光物質を含む有機層を備える。第1の電極と第2の電極は一方が陽極として機能し、他方が陰極として機能する。発光物質を含む有機層は第1の電極と第2の電極の間に設けられ、当該有機層の構成は第1の電極と第2の電極の極性、及び材質に合わせて適宜選択すればよい。以下に、当該光源の構成の一例を例示するが、面発光体30の構成がこれに限定されないことは言うまでもない。
図3(A)は、光源の構成例を示す図である。図3(A)に示す光源は、陽極31と陰極32の間に発光物質を含む有機層33が挟んで設けられている。
図3(B)は、図3(A)に示した光源とは異なる構成を有する光源の構成例を示す図である。図3(B)に示す光源は、陽極31と陰極32の間に発光物質を含む有機層33が挟んで設けられている。さらに、陰極32と発光物質を含む有機層33との間には中間層34が設けられている。なお、当該光源の発光物質を含む有機層33には、上述の光源の構成例1と同様の構成を適用することが可能であり、詳細については、光源の構成例1の記載を参酌できる。
図3(C)は、図3(A)、(B)に示した光源とは異なる構成を有する光源の構成例を示す図である。図3(C)に示す光源は、陽極31と陰極32の間に発光物質を含む有機層33a、33bが2つ挟んで設けられている。さらに、発光物質を含む有機層33aと、発光物質を含む有機層33bとの間には中間層34が設けられている。なお、陽極31と陰極32に挟持される発光物質を含む有機層は二つに限定されない。すなわち、発光物質を含む有機層の間に中間層を挟んで、発光物質を含む有機層を陽極31と陰極32の間に三つ以上積層してもよい。なお、当該光源の構成例3の発光物質を含む有機層33a、33bには、上述の光源の構成例1と同様の構成を適用することが可能である。また、当該光源の構成例3の中間層34には、上述の光源の構成例2と同様の構成を適用することが可能である。よって、これらの詳細については、光源の構成例1、又は光源の構成例2の記載を参酌できる。
次いで、上述した構成を備える光源に用いることができる具体的な材料について、陽極31、陰極32、発光物質を含む有機層33、電荷発生領域34c、電子リレー層34b、並びに電子注入バッファー34aの順に説明する。
陽極31は、仕事関数の大きい(具体的には4.0eV以上が好ましい)金属、合金、電気伝導性化合物、およびこれらの混合物などを用いることが好ましい。具体的には、例えば、酸化インジウム−酸化スズ(ITO:Indium Tin Oxide)、珪素若しくは酸化珪素を含有した酸化インジウム−酸化スズ、酸化インジウム−酸化亜鉛(Indium Zinc Oxide)、酸化タングステン及び酸化亜鉛を含有した酸化インジウム等が挙げられる。
陰極32に接して電荷発生領域を、発光物質を含む有機層33との間に設ける場合、陰極32は仕事関数の大小に関わらず様々な導電性材料を用いることができる。
上述した発光物質を含む有機層33を構成する各層に用いることができる材料について、以下に具体例を示す。
電荷発生領域34cは、正孔輸送性の高い物質とアクセプター性物質を含む領域である。なお、電荷発生領域34cは、同一膜中に正孔輸送性の高い物質とアクセプター性物質を含有する場合だけでなく、正孔輸送性の高い物質を含む層とアクセプター性物質を含む層とが積層されていても良い。但し、電荷発生領域34cを陰極32側に設ける積層構造の場合には、正孔輸送性の高い物質を含む層が陰極32と接する構造となり、電荷発生領域34cを陽極31側に設ける積層構造の場合には、アクセプター性物質を含む層が陽極31と接する構造となる。
電子リレー層34bは、電荷発生領域34cにおいてアクセプター性物質がひき抜いた電子を速やかに受け取ることができる層である。従って、電子リレー層34bは、電子輸送性の高い物質を含む層であり、そのLUMO準位は、電荷発生領域34cにおけるアクセプター性物質のアクセプター準位と、発光物質を含む有機層33のLUMO準位との間に位置する。具体的には、およそ−5.0eV以上−3.0eV以下とするのが好ましい。
電子注入バッファー34aは、電荷発生領域34cから発光物質を含む有機層33への電子の注入を容易にする層である。電子注入バッファー34aを電荷発生領域34cと発光物質を含む有機層33の間に設けることにより、両者の注入障壁を緩和することができる。
本明細書で開示される照明装置は、図1に示した構成要素のみによって構成することも可能であるが、図1に示した構成要素を複数用いて照明装置を構成することも可能である。当該照明装置の構成例を図4に示す。なお、図4(A)は、当該照明装置の断面図であり、図4(B)は、当該照明装置の上面図である。なお、図4(A)に示す断面図は、図4(B)に示されたM−N線における断面図に相当する。

Claims (11)
- 内面がマイナスフレネルレンズ形状である領域を含み、且つ外面が凹凸形状である領域を含む構造体と、
前記構造体の内面に密接する高屈折率材料層と、
前記高屈折率材料層を介して前記構造体上に設けられた面発光体と、を有し、
前記構造体及び前記高屈折率材料層は、透光性を有し、
前記高屈折率材料層の屈折率、及び前記面発光体に含まれる発光領域の屈折率は、前記構造体の屈折率よりも0.1以上高いことを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記高屈折率材料層の屈折率が、前記面発光体に含まれる発光領域の屈折率から0.1低い値以上であることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記高屈折率材料層の屈折率が、前記面発光体に含まれる発光領域の屈折率以上であることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項において、
前記高屈折率材料層の屈折率が、前記面発光体に含まれる発光領域の屈折率から0.1高い値以下であることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記構造体が、前記マイナスフレネルレンズ形状である領域を含む面を備えた第1の部材と、前記凹凸形状である領域を含む面を備えた第2の部材と、を有することを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項において、
前記高屈折率材料層の前記面発光体側の面が、平面形状又は略平面形状であることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項において、
前記凹凸形状である領域が、前記マイナスフレネルレンズ形状である領域よりも広いことを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項7のいずれか一項において、
前記凹凸形状が、フレネルレンズ形状であることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項8のいずれか一項において、
前記面発光体が、有機エレクトロルミネッセンスを利用して発光を行うことを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項9のいずれか一項において、
前記発光領域が、前記マイナスフレネルレンズ形状である領域よりも狭いことを特徴とする照明装置。 - 複数の請求項10に記載の照明装置が配設されることを特徴とする照明装置。
