Description

The present invention relates to a vehicle front end structure, and more particularly to a technique for improving pedestrian protection.

A vehicle body member formed by processing a steel plate to form a vehicle skeleton at the front end portion of a vehicle is generally configured such that a radiator core support member is joined to a tip portion of a pair of left and right side member members and a bumper beam member is attached. Has been.
The front end portion of such a vehicle needs to minimize damage to the pedestrian when contacting the pedestrian, and various structures for protecting the pedestrian have been developed.

For example, in Patent Document 1, the front end structure of a vehicle is configured such that a radiator can be displaced with respect to an upper member that is a part of a radiator core support member, and the upper member is deformed preferentially as compared with a radiator. A technique for protecting a person is disclosed.

In recent years, from the viewpoint of improving safety, the design of the front end of the vehicle has been further improved, and the bumper beam member is attached to the front end portion of the side member member via an impact absorbing member adjusted so as to be crushed at the time of a collision. A vehicle front end structure has been developed.
In such a structure, the bumper beam member protrudes larger forward than the radiator core support member, and the height position of the bumper beam member is substantially equal to the height position of the pedestrian's knee. When hit, there is no vehicle body member that supports the upper part of the knee, so that the upper body of the pedestrian may fall largely around the knee joint and fall behind the vehicle, and the pedestrian cannot be sufficiently protected, which is not preferable.

The present invention has been made to solve such problems, and an object thereof is to provide a vehicle front end structure capable of improving pedestrian protection.

In order to achieve the above object, the front end structure of the vehicle according to claim 1 is provided with a radiator core support member joined to the upper surfaces of the front ends of the pair of left and right front side member members, and the pair of left and right front side members. A front end structure of a vehicle in which a bumper beam member is attached and passed to each end of the member, and the radiator core support member includes a pair of left and right side support members extending above the vehicle, and an upper connecting the upper ends of the pair of side support members. The bumper beam member is attached to each front end of the pair of left and right front side member members so as to protrude forward of the vehicle, and above the bumper beam member, from the upper support member to the front of the vehicle. An auxiliary member is provided so as to protrude and extend in the vehicle width direction. Characterized in that it comprises Te.

The vehicle front end structure according to claim 2 is characterized in that, in claim 1, the auxiliary member has a flange extending forward of the vehicle, and the cross section is formed in a hat shape.
The vehicle front end structure according to claim 3 is characterized in that, in claim 1, the flange is formed with a bead extending along the flange.
According to a vehicle front end structure according to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in any one of the first to third aspects, the bumper beam member is provided at each end of the pair of left and right front side member members so as to protrude forward of the vehicle and is crushed. It is attached through a crush member that absorbs shock.

According to the vehicle front end structure of claim 1 of the present invention, the auxiliary member that protrudes forward from the upper support member of the radiator core support member and extends in the vehicle width direction is provided above the bumper beam member. When the pedestrian's leg comes into contact with the front end of the vehicle, the upper part of the pedestrian's leg comes into contact with the auxiliary member, so that the upper body of the pedestrian hardly falls back behind the vehicle around the knee joint.

Therefore, even when the front end portion of the vehicle is in contact with a pedestrian, damage to the pedestrian can be minimized and pedestrian protection can be improved.
According to the vehicle front end structure of claim 2, the auxiliary member has a hat-shaped cross section, so that the auxiliary member has a certain degree of rigidity as an auxiliary member, and deforms when it comes into contact with a pedestrian. The force can be absorbed, and the flange extending in front of the vehicle can absorb the impact force by being deformed when the flange contacts the pedestrian.

According to the vehicle front end structure according to the third aspect, the bead is formed along the flange, so that when the flange comes into contact with a pedestrian, it can be easily deformed to absorb the impact force.
According to the front end structure of the vehicle of the fourth aspect, the bumper beam member is attached to each front end of the pair of left and right front side member members via the crash member protruding forward of the vehicle. Even if it is a large protrusion, it is possible to improve pedestrian protection by providing an auxiliary member above the bumper beam member.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a front end structure of a vehicle according to the present invention.
As shown in the figure, the front end of the vehicle is roughly divided into a pair of left and right front side members 10 and 10, a radiator core support 20 joined to the upper end of the front side members 10 and 10, the front side member 10, The vehicle body is composed of a bumper beam 30 attached to the tip of 10 and a bumper force 40 according to the present invention.

Here, only the front side members 10 and 10, the radiator core support 20, the bumper beam 30, and the bumper force 40 according to the present invention which are vehicle body members will be described. Front fenders are disposed on the outer sides of the side members 10 and 10, respectively, and hoods are disposed on the upper side of the radiator core support 20 and the bumper force 40 to cover the bumper beam 30 and the bumper force 40. In this way, a resin bumper fascia is provided. The radiator core support 20 is a member for mainly supporting a radiator (not shown).

Specifically, the front side members 10 and 10 are configured by forming flanges 14 at the front ends of the front side member members 12 and 12, and the radiator core support 20 includes an upper support member 22 and a pair of left and right side support members 24 and 24. It is composed of The bumper beam 30 is covered with a bumper core 34 with a gap at the front side of the bumper beam member 32, and a pair of left and right crashes that protrudes to the front of the vehicle at both left and right ends of the bumper beam member 32 and absorbs shock by being crushed. Members 36 and 36 are joined, and flanges 38 corresponding to the flanges 14 are formed at the rear ends of the crash members 36 and 36, respectively.

The front end portion of the vehicle basically has side support members 24, 24 joined to the upper surfaces of the front end portions of the front side member members 12, 12, and the flanges 14 at the front ends of the front side member members 12, 12 are respectively crash members. 36 and 36 are joined to a flange 38 at each rear end.
The bumper force 40 according to the present invention includes a pair of left and right side brackets 42 and 42, stays 44 and 44 including a pair of elongated members, and a bumper force member (auxiliary member) 50. Specifically, the bumper force 40 has both ends of the bumper force member 50 joined to the front end portions of the side brackets 42 and 42 extending from the side support members 24 and 24 toward the front of the vehicle, and in the vicinity of the central portion of the bumper force member 50. The upper ends of the pair of stays 44 and 44 are joined to the bumper force member 50 and the rear ends are joined to the upper support member 22 so as to connect the upper support member 22 and the upper support member 22.

Referring to FIG. 3, a sectional view taken along line BB in FIG. 1 is shown. The bumper force member 50 has a hat-like cross section, and has a flat upper surface 52 and a flange 54 extending forward of the vehicle. Have.
In the drawing, the bumper fascia 60 and the hood 70 are shown together, but the bumper force 40 has a function of supporting the upper part of the bumper fascia 60, and the upper part of the bumper fascia 60 is a fastening member on the upper surface 52. It is fixed by. Accordingly, the bumper fascia 60 is provided at the front end portion of the vehicle such that the upper portion is fixed to the bumper force 40 and the lower portion is fixed to the lower surface of the bumper core 34 of the bumper beam 30 with a fastening member, for example.

The bumper force 40 also has a function of protecting the pedestrian when the front end of the vehicle comes into contact with the pedestrian. In other words, since the height position of the bumper beam 30 is substantially equal to the height position of the pedestrian's knee, when the bumper beam 30 hits the pedestrian's knee, the upper body of the pedestrian falls largely around the knee joint and falls backward in the vehicle. There is a possibility that the bumper force member 50 of the bumper force 40 has a function of supporting the upper leg portion of the pedestrian and preventing the upper body of the pedestrian from falling backward in the vehicle.

Referring to FIG. 4, in addition to FIG. 3, the behavior of the pedestrian's leg 100 when the pedestrian's leg 100 contacts the front end of the vehicle is shown. As shown in FIG. The leg portion 100 of the person is in contact with the bumper fascia 60 at the position of the bumper beam 30 and the upper leg portion 104 is in contact with the bumper facia 60 at the position of the bumper force member 50 (two-dot chain line).

When the vehicle is traveling forward, the leg upper part 104 comes into contact with the bumper force member 50 after the leg part 100 of the pedestrian contacts the bumper fascia 60 (solid line).
When the upper leg 104 is in contact with the bumper force member 50 in this manner, the upper body of the pedestrian hardly falls back around the joint of the knee 102 and the front end of the vehicle comes into contact with the pedestrian. Even if it exists, the damage which a pedestrian receives can be suppressed to the minimum, and the improvement of pedestrian protection can be aimed at.

In particular, the bumper force member 50 has a hat-shaped cross section, so that a certain degree of rigidity is ensured. However, since the lower surface is opened, the bumper force member 50 is deformed when it comes into contact with a pedestrian and has an impact force. Can be absorbed. Further, since the pair of stays 44 and 44 are formed of an elongated member, the impact force can be absorbed even when the stays 44 and 44 are buckled, and the impact received by the pedestrian can be mitigated well.

Further, in the present embodiment, the bumper force member 50 has a flange 54 extending forward of the vehicle, and therefore, the impact force can be absorbed by deformation when the flange 54 comes into contact with a pedestrian. The impact received by pedestrians can be further reduced.
In this case, it is possible to regulate the bending angle of the pedestrian's knee 102 by appropriately setting the length of the flange 54.

Referring to FIG. 5, a modified example of the vehicle front end structure according to the present invention is shown in the same manner as FIG. 3. As shown in FIG. 5, a flange 54 ′ is used instead of the bumper force member 50. Alternatively, a bumper force member 50 ′ having a bead 56 extending along the flange 54 ′ may be employed.
When the bead 56 is formed on the flange 54 ′ as described above, when the flange 54 ′ comes into contact with the pedestrian, the bead 56 can be easily deformed to absorb the impact force and further reduce the impact received by the pedestrian. be able to. Thereby, the improvement of further pedestrian protection can be aimed at.
