Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an ink jet printer that suppresses the generation of ink bubbles and prevents the overflow of ink from an ink tank caused by bubbles and the trouble caused by the entrainment of bubbles, and a marking method using the ink jet printer.
Generally speaking, ink jet printers are required for a continuous method in which ink droplets are ejected continuously and the ink flight direction is deflected in accordance with the charge and the amount of charge, and in a necessary position. It is classified as a DOD (drop-on-demand) system that ejects ink droplets only occasionally.
In these ink jet printers, inks that are appropriately prepared to have physical properties such as viscosity and surface tension according to the discharge characteristics of the printer are used. Among various characteristics required for ink, the generation of bubbles when the ink is made to flow is an undesirable characteristic because it causes poor collection at the time of ink collection and instability of ejection.
In particular, in continuous printers, when collecting ink at a reduced pressure during the process of collecting ink from gutter, air is also sucked together with the ink to generate a large amount of bubbles. The presence (or lack of antifoaming) is a big problem.
Therefore, when preparing ink using raw materials that easily generate bubbles, or when the finished formulation generates a large amount of bubbles, an antifoaming component such as a silicon-based antifoaming agent is used to suppress the generation of bubbles. Is often added.
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. H10-228561 describes an ink having a low foaming property used in such a continuous type printer. These are attempts to reduce foamability depending on the material used.
Therefore, even when ink that easily generates bubbles is used, a technique is required to eliminate overflow of ink from the collection tank due to the generation of bubbles and ejection failure. As an ink jet printer that reduces the generation of such bubbles, the one disclosed in
By the way, there are concerns about the following problems when using ink that generates a lot of bubbles in a continuous ink jet printer. That is, since the generated bubbles are present above the ink surface, it is often difficult to detect the remaining amount of the ink liquid due to the influence of the bubbles. If the detection of the remaining amount of ink remains inaccurate, the remaining amount of ink may be erroneously displayed due to the presence of bubbles even if the liquid portion of the ink disappears. Accordingly, the display of the remaining amount of ink becomes inaccurate, and there is a possibility that an insufficient ink supply warning is not issued even when the supply of ink is insufficient. Alternatively, the bubble portion that usually exists only above the liquid portion of the ink does not enter the main tank if the amount of the liquid portion of the ink is sufficient. Part may get caught and move to the main tank. In other words, despite the fact that the generation of corners and bubbles is suppressed, the bubbles reach the main tank, causing problems such as unstable ejection, poor ink viscosity detection, or related valve opening / closing detection abnormalities. Let On the other hand, there are a wide variety of uses for printing with ink jet printers, and inks are required to have various characteristics. The ink used is not necessarily limited to ink with low foaming property due to material restrictions and characteristic restrictions. Therefore, an ink jet printer that can stably discharge even if foaming is desired.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described conventional problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an ink jet printer in which the ink collected and returned to the ink tank does not bubble and leak. In addition, it reduces foaming during ink recovery and prevents the remaining amount of ink in the ink tank from being disturbed by bubbles. The purpose is to prevent mixing of bubbles. Then, stable printing is continued by preventing bubbles from entering the main tank. Another object of the present invention is to prevent printing troubles including no printing due to insufficient ink supply.
In order to achieve the above object, an ink jet printer according to the present invention includes an ink tank that stores ink, a print head that ejects ink supplied from the ink tank toward the surface of a printing object, and the print head. And an ink collecting means for collecting ink that is not used for printing out of the ink ejected from the ink and returning it to the ink tank. The ink collecting means is a front receiver disposed upstream of the ink tank in the ink collecting direction. A tank, a foaming prevention means for reducing foaming of ink when being collected in the front receiving tank, and a connecting pipe communicating the bottom of the front receiving tank and the bottom of the ink tank are provided. .
In addition to the above-described configuration, a liquid level sensor that detects the liquid level of the ink contained in the ink tank, an alarm device that issues an alarm regarding ink shortage in the ink tank, and the liquid level sensor When the ink liquid level value falls below a predetermined liquid level value set in advance, the alarm device issues an alarm, and after a predetermined time has elapsed since the alarm was issued, the liquid level of the ink tank And a control device that stops the printing operation when the thickness value does not exceed the predetermined liquid level height value.
The liquid level sensor according to
Further, in each of the above-described configurations, the ink tank and the front receiving tank are arranged so that the bottom surfaces thereof are at substantially the same height.
Further, in each of the above-described configurations, the foaming prevention means includes a mist ejection mechanism that ejects the collected ink in a mist toward the inner peripheral wall surface or the ink liquid surface of the front receiving tank. The ink ejection angle is arranged so as to be more than 0 degree and less than 90 degrees with respect to the ink liquid level.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, the mist ejection mechanism includes a gas supply device that supplies a gas to the recovered ink and pressurizes the gas, and a gas from the recovered ink and the gas supply device that is disposed at a position above the ink level in the front receiving tank.
Further, the gas outlet in
In each of the above-described configurations, an ink that does not contain an antifoaming component is used.
And it is the marking method which prints on the surface of a to-be-printed material with each ink jet printer of Claim 1-8 using the ink containing 2.0 weight% or more of iron chlorophyllin sodium.
Furthermore, using an ink comprising 2 to 6% by weight of iron chlorophyllin sodium, 10 to 25% by weight of propylene glycol, 0.01 to 1% by weight of a paste, and the remaining amount of water, the ink composition according to
According to the ink jet printer of the present invention, the front receiving tank on the upstream side in the ink collecting direction of the ink tank and the foam preventing means for reducing the foaming of the ink to the front receiving tank are provided. The bubbling of the recovered ink can be reduced by the bubbling prevention means. Further, since the connecting pipe that communicates the bottom of the front receiving tank and the bottom of the ink tank is provided, only the liquid portion of the collected ink collected at the bottom of the receiving tank is transferred from the bottom of the tank to the ink tank through the connecting pipe. Can flow in. Therefore, bubbles do not flow into the ink tank. As a result, since this ink is reused by the print head, stable printing can be continued, and printing troubles including no printing due to insufficient supply of ink can be prevented.
In addition, in the case of an ink tank liquid level sensor, an alarm device for notifying ink shortage, and a control device, when the detected ink liquid level height value falls below a predetermined liquid level height value The alarm device can alert the user by the control device and prevent the liquid ink in the receiving tank from substantially disappearing by refilling the ink after the warning. It can be prevented from flowing into the tank. In addition, if the liquid level height value of the ink tank does not exceed the predetermined liquid level height value after the elapse of a predetermined time after the alarm is issued, the control device stops the printing operation of the printer, and there is no mark due to insufficient ink supply. Printing troubles including characters can be prevented in advance.
And with a float type liquid level sensor, there is no problem that the detection accuracy decreases due to electrolysis or dirt adhesion compared to the current detection type or photo detection type liquid level sensor, and it is long with a simple configuration. It is possible to detect the liquid level height with high period accuracy. Also, because the float's vertical operation range is positioned above the bottom surface of the front receiving tank, the liquid level height can be accurately detected even when the amount of liquid ink in the front receiving tank becomes extremely small. Can do.
Further, in the case where the bottom surface of the ink tank and the front receiving tank are arranged at substantially the same height, the ink in the front receiving tank is not limited regardless of the amount of the liquid portion of the ink in the front receiving tank. Can be reliably moved from the connecting pipe to the ink tank.
Further, in the case where the mist ejection mechanism constituting the foam prevention means is arranged so that the ink ejection angle is more than 0 degree and less than 90 degrees with respect to the ink liquid level, the foam present above the liquid level of the ink The bubbles can be efficiently removed by reliably applying the ink mist.
If the mist ejection mechanism includes a gas supply device, an injection nozzle, a gas outlet port of the front receiving tank, and a suction side pipe, the gas is mixed into the recovered ink by the gas supply device and the pressure Therefore, the ink mist droplets can be reliably ejected from the ejection nozzle. Further, since the gas in the front receiving tank is circulated and used, it is not necessary to provide exhaust processing means as in the case of introducing outside air, and gas supply can be performed with a simple configuration of a gas outlet and a suction side pipe line. it can.
Further, in the case where the gas extraction port is formed at a position directly above the ejection nozzle in the receiving tank, the gas is extracted from the space where the bubbles are extinguished by the mist droplets of the ink ejected from the ejection nozzle. Since the liquid is sucked into the collection pump, the amount of gas in the bubble is not sucked in, the amount of gas is relatively high and the applied pressure is increased, and it is possible to more reliably generate the ink mist and erase the bubble. it can.
Therefore, with this ink jet printer, even if ink that does not contain a defoaming component is used, bubbles in the front receiving tank can be reduced by the above-described configuration, and ink containing bubbles is supplied to the ink tank and thus the printer head. do not do.
Each of the ink jet printers described above can be printed on the surface of the printing material using an ink containing 2.0% by weight or more of iron chlorophyllin sodium, and further 2-6% by weight of iron chlorophyllin sodium and propylene. It is also possible to print on the surface of an object to be printed using an ink comprising 10 to 25% by weight of glycol, 0.01 to 1% by weight of a paste, and the remaining amount of water.
Embodiments of an ink jet printer according to the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

The
The
The
The other end opening 14 of the
The bubbling prevention means 5 returns the collected ink to the
The gas supply device 7 communicates a
The
The
Further, the
Next, the operation of the
In the
Then, when the liquid level height H value of the ink Kr in the
Therefore, according to the
As a result, even if any ink is used without using the defoaming ink, the bubbles in the
Further, since the
Since the gas is mixed into the ink by the
Further, since the connecting
In this way, by passing the
The method of omitting the
The ink jet printer of the present invention can use foaming ink. As the foaming ink, an antifoaming agent is not used. In particular, an aqueous ink can be used as an ink that does not have instability in the emulsion state of the antifoaming agent. Therefore, dispersion stability without destruction of the emulsion due to temperature change is ensured. Such an ink that does not contain an antifoaming component is an ink in which bubbles grow to a height of 5 times or more the liquid level before foaming when air is blown. When 200 mL of this ink is put into a 1 L cylindrical container and air is blown, ink bubbles overflow from the cylindrical container.
Examples of such foaming ink materials include a large amount of pigments and polysaccharides in water-based inks. And in the ink which dissolves these in large quantities, foamability becomes remarkable. Such ink is an ink containing 2.0% by weight or more of sodium iron chlorophyllin and preferably 4% or more in order to further increase the density after printing.
The present invention is an ink jet ink containing 2.0% by weight or more of the above-described printer for controlling foamability and iron chlorophyllin sodium, which is composed of a material that does not contain an antifoaming component. For example, the marking printing can be suitably performed on the surface of the printing material P that is food or food packaging.
Also, as a foaming ink-jet ink, it is a marking method that is an ink composed of 2 to 6% by weight of iron chlorophyllin sodium, 10 to 25% by weight of propylene glycol, 0.01 to 1% by weight of paste, and the remainder of water. Since the lake material to be used is an ink composed of a food additive or food material which is a derivative from a natural product such as hydroxypropylcellulose or sodium alginate, it is suitable for marking eggshells.
In the present invention, ink that does not contain a defoaming component can cope with ink overflow and unstable ejection due to foaming in the printer. Regarding the generation of bubbles, in a method in which air is bubbled into ink when a container corresponding to a normal ink tank is processed, the ink grows bubbles five times or more at the liquid level of the ink amount. Can also be handled.
In the ink, the foaming property becomes remarkable by increasing the content of sodium iron chlorophyllin. When the content exceeds 3.5% by weight, the height of the foam is the height of the liquid level of the ink. In many cases, the ink overflows much more than 5 times.
Then, a part of the antifoaming agent remains in the piping in the printer that is estimated to be generated by using the antifoaming agent, the state change of the emulsion of the antifoaming agent caused by the temperature change in the printer, further destruction, and The ink can cope with subtle changes such as subtle non-uniform discharge from the nozzles and breakage during ink dot formation by using no defoaming agent.
In addition, by marking dot formation, repellency, etc. after printing as described above, it is possible to eliminate the overflow caused by ink bubbles despite the high foaming property, the instability of detection of the remaining amount of ink, and the resulting bubbles. Thus, it is possible to prevent printing failure due to mixing of ink and to prevent occurrence of no printing due to insufficient ink supply.
The ink stability of printing was confirmed using the inks of the formulations of Examples 1 to 5 described below for the

Incidentally, let us consider a case in which the
