Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a vehicular lamp, and more particularly to a vehicular lamp using a liquid crystal element.
Conventionally, a headlamp that uses a movable shade to switch between a low beam and a high beam is known (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
FIG. 15 is a diagram for explaining the
As illustrated in FIG. 15, the
However, the
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a vehicular lamp that can prevent a malfunction caused by mechanically switching between a low beam and a high beam. .
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the invention according to
According to the first aspect of the present invention, when no voltage is applied to the liquid crystal element, the first polarization component is emitted from the liquid crystal element while maintaining the vibration direction. Does not coincide with the polarization transmission axis direction of the second reflective polarizer.
Therefore, the first polarization component that has reached the second reflective polarizer is reflected by the second reflective polarizer without passing through the second reflective polarizer, and is added to the basic light distribution pattern by the second optical system. The first additional light distribution pattern (a part of the low beam light distribution pattern) is formed.
On the other hand, when a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal element, the first polarized component is emitted from the
Therefore, the first polarization component that has reached the second reflective polarizer is transmitted through the second reflective polarizer, and the second additional light distribution pattern (high beam distribution) added to the basic light distribution pattern by the third optical system. A part of the light pattern) is formed.
As described above, according to the first aspect of the present invention, instead of mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam as in the prior art, the reflection polarizer and the liquid crystal element that are statically arranged are used to electrically In addition, the light beam distribution pattern for the low beam and the light distribution pattern for the high beam are switched. Therefore, according to the first aspect of the present invention, it is possible to prevent malfunction caused by mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect of the present invention, the liquid crystal element is a VA mode liquid crystal element.
According to the second aspect of the present invention, instead of mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam as in the prior art, the low beam is electrically generated using a statically arranged reflective polarizer and a VA mode liquid crystal element. It is the structure which switches the light distribution pattern for light and the light distribution pattern for high beams. For this reason, according to the second aspect of the present invention, it is possible to prevent malfunction caused by mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam.
The invention according to
According to the third aspect of the present invention, when no voltage is applied to the liquid crystal element, the first polarization component is emitted from the liquid crystal element after being rotated by a predetermined angle. The vibration direction of the component does not coincide with the polarization transmission axis direction of the second reflective polarizer.
Therefore, when no voltage is applied to the liquid crystal element, the first polarization component that has reached the second reflective polarizer is reflected by the second reflective polarizer without passing through the second reflective polarizer, By the two optical systems, a first additional light distribution pattern (for example, a part of the low beam light distribution pattern) added to the basic light distribution pattern is formed.
On the other hand, when a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal element, the first polarization component is emitted from the liquid crystal element while maintaining its vibration direction, and therefore the vibration direction of the first polarization component is determined by the second reflective polarizer. It coincides with the polarization transmission axis direction.
For this reason, the first polarization component that has reached the second reflective polarizer transmits the second reflective polarizer, and is added to the basic light distribution pattern by the third optical system (for example, for a high beam). A part of the light distribution pattern) is formed.
As described above, according to the third aspect of the present invention, instead of mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam as in the prior art, the reflection polarizer and the liquid crystal element that are statically arranged are used to electrically In addition, the light beam distribution pattern for the low beam and the light distribution pattern for the high beam are switched. Therefore, according to the third aspect of the present invention, it is possible to prevent malfunction caused by mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the third aspect of the present invention, the liquid crystal element is a TN mode liquid crystal element.
According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, instead of mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam as in the prior art, the low beam is electrically generated using a statically arranged reflective polarizer and a TN mode liquid crystal element. It is the structure which switches the light distribution pattern for light and the light distribution pattern for high beams. Therefore, according to the fourth aspect of the present invention, it is possible to prevent malfunction caused by mechanically switching between the low beam and the high beam.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, it becomes possible to provide the vehicle lamp which can prevent the malfunctioning resulting from switching a low beam and a high beam mechanically.
Hereinafter, the
A
The
The first
As shown in FIG. 1, the first

Next, a manufacturing process of the
First, ITO, which is a transparent electrode, is formed on a glass substrate by vapor deposition, sputtering, etc., and a desired ITO pattern is formed by a photolithography process (step S10).
Next, an insulating film is formed on the display portion by flexographic printing on the glass substrate on which the ITO pattern is formed (step S11). This insulating film is not necessarily formed, but is desirably formed to prevent a short circuit between the upper and lower glass substrates. Note that vapor deposition using a metal mask, sputtering, or the like may be used instead of flexographic printing.
Next, a vertical alignment film having substantially the same pattern is formed on the insulating film (step S12). As a method for obtaining uniform monodomain alignment, for example, there is a method described in JP-A-2005-234254. In this embodiment, SE-1211 (manufactured by Nissan Chemical Industries) was used. As the vertical alignment film, an inorganic type film can also be used.
Next, a rubbing process is performed (step S13). The rubbing treatment is a step of rotating a cylindrical roll wound with a cloth at high speed and rubbing the alignment film, whereby liquid crystal molecules can be aligned uniaxially. In this embodiment, the rubbing process is performed so that the alignment state between the glass substrates is in an antiparallel (antiparallel) state. The orientation direction was 45 ° with respect to the end face of the glass substrate. Note that instead of the rubbing treatment, a photo-alignment method, an ion beam alignment method, a plasma beam alignment method, an oblique deposition method, or the like may be used.
Next, a sealant for bonding the upper and lower glass substrates is printed in a predetermined pattern (step S14). For example, when the vacuum injection method is used, a pattern having an injection port is printed, and when the ODF method is used, a closed pattern without an injection port is printed. A dispenser or the like may be used instead of the screen printing method. In the present embodiment, thermosetting sealant ES-7500 (manufactured by Mitsui Chemicals) was used as the sealant. Instead of this, a photo-curing sealant or a combined light / heat sealant may be used. This sealant contains several percent of glass fibers having a size of 3.9 microns. A conductive material including Au balls was printed at a predetermined position. In this embodiment, screen printing was performed using a sealant ES-7500 containing several percent of 4.5 micron Au balls as a conductive material. The sealant pattern (and the conductive material pattern) was formed only on one glass substrate, and a gap control agent was sprayed on the opposite glass substrate by a dry spraying method.
In this embodiment, a 4 micron plastic ball was used as the gap agent. Instead of this, a silica ball such as a true sphere may be used. In addition, a gap agent that has been subjected to a surface treatment so as not to disturb the alignment of the liquid crystal may be used.
Next, the upper and lower glass substrates are overlapped at predetermined positions to form a cell, and the sealing agent is cured by heat treatment in the pressed state (step S15).
Next, the glass substrate is scratched with a scriber device and divided into a predetermined size (for example, 60 mm × 60 mm) and shape by playing (step S16).
Next, liquid crystal is injected into the cell by a vacuum injection method (step S17), and the injection port is sealed with an end sealant (step S18). It is also possible to use the ODF method in place of the vacuum injection. As the liquid crystal, a material having a wide liquid crystal temperature range used for an in-vehicle LCD or the like is preferable. In the present embodiment, a liquid crystal material having a negative Δε manufactured by Merck Co. was used.
Finally, chamfering and cleaning are performed (step S19), and a pin terminal is attached to the extraction electrode (step S20).

Next, the manufacturing process of the
First, ITO, which is a transparent electrode, is formed on a glass substrate by vapor deposition, sputtering, etc., and a desired ITO pattern is formed by a photolithography process (step S10).
Next, a horizontal alignment film having substantially the same pattern is formed on the insulating film (step S12). In the present embodiment, SE-410 (manufactured by Nissan Chemical Industries) was used.
Next, a rubbing process is performed (step S13). The rubbing process is a process of rotating a cylindrical roll wound with a cloth at high speed and rubbing the alignment film, whereby liquid crystal molecules can be aligned uniaxially. In this embodiment, the rubbing process was performed so that the alignment state between the glass substrates was in a 90 ° shake state.
This sealant contains several percent of glass fibers with a size of 12 microns. A conductive material including Au balls was printed at a predetermined position. In this embodiment, the sealant ES-7500 containing several percent of 13-micron Au balls was screen-printed as a conductive material. The sealant pattern (and the conductive material pattern) was formed only on one glass substrate, and a gap control agent was sprayed on the opposite glass substrate by a dry spraying method.
In this embodiment, 12 micron plastic balls (black colored balls) were used as the gap agent.
Next, the glass is scratched with a scriber device, and is divided into a predetermined size (for example, 60 mm × 60 mm) and shape by playing (step S16).
In the present embodiment, a liquid crystal material (Δn = about 0.25) having a positive Δε manufactured by DIC was used.
Finally, chamfering and cleaning are performed (step S19), and a flexible substrate is attached to the extraction electrode (step S20).
