Abstract
Description
本発明は、光ロッド(optical rod)または光テーパ(optical taper)に連結された実質的に平面の発光表面を含む照明装置に関する。
例えば、発光ダイオード(LED)技術などの光源技術における進歩は、非常に明るく信頼性のある固相ランプをもたらしている。しかしながら、例えば、光ロッドおよび光テーパなどの光伝送媒体にLEDを連結させることに関して、依然として課題がある。光ファイバ光ガイド、または、内視鏡、歯科医業用および物体の(懐中電灯、ヘッドライトまたはランプによる)遠隔照明用の電源としての他の光デバイスに連結された低電力(1W未満の消費電力、典型的には100mW未満で動作)の発光ダイオード(LED)を用いる多数の試みがなされてきたが、これらの先行の試みのほとんどは、遠隔照明のための多数の低消費電力のLEDを用いた。一般に、複数のLEDが必要である。なぜなら、単一の低消費電力のLEDからの光出力は、典型的には物体を適切に照明するのには弱すぎるからである。さらに、これらの先行の試みにおいて用いられる光伝送媒体に複数のLEDを配置することは、容認できない光の損失という結果となり、それによって、物体を適切に照明するという低消費電力LEDの能力をさらに減少させる。
本発明は、概して、光源と光ロッドまたは光テーパとの間の本発明の連結手法によって、照明装置を通って伝送される光量を増加させることに関する。一部の実施形態において、本発明は、さらに、本発明の連結手法を含む内視鏡(例えば、医療用または産業用)、本発明の連結手法を含むランプ、または本発明の連結手法を含むヘッドライトに関する。本発明の特定の実施形態は、高電力LED(すなわち、約1〜5Wの消費電力を有するLED)を利用する。
例えば、図1に示される照明装置などの先行技術の照明装置は、伝送媒体15に光学的に連結されたドーム形状のレンズ10を有する光源5を含む。この連結の配置では、光は伝送媒体15に効果的には伝送されない。なぜなら、光源5の発光部分20が伝送媒体15に十分に近くではない(すなわち、発光部分20は、ドームレンズ10の湾曲のために、伝送媒体から容認できない距離の間隔に置かれる)からである。さらに、ドーム形状のレンズ10は、凸面の発光表面を提供する。その結果、光源5と伝送媒体15との間の界面を通過する光の一部は、失われ、それによって、従来の照明装置の光力および効率性を減少させる。
Claims (30)
- 照明装置であって、
実質的に平面の発光表面を含む光源と、
光ロッドであって、該光ロッドと該実質的に平面の発光表面とを光学的に連結するために、該実質的に平面の発光表面に隣接して配置される、光ロッドと
を備えている、照明装置。 - 前記実質的に平面の発光表面は、発光ダイオードチップの発光表面を備えている、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 前記実質的に平面の発光表面は、前記発光ダイオードチップが起動されたとき光を発する物質の膜によってコーティングされた該発光ダイオードチップの発光表面を備えている、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 前記実質的に平面の発光表面は、前記発光ダイオードチップの発光表面の上に配置された透明の実質的に平面の窓を備えている、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光ロッドは、前記実質的に平面の発光表面と直接に物理的に接触している、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 接着剤または屈折率整合材が、前記光ロッドと前記実質的に平面の発光表面との間に配置される、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 気体が、前記光ロッドと前記実質的に平面の発光表面との間に配置される、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光ロッドは、被覆ロッド、銀メッキのロッド、アルミニウムメッキのロッド、およびファイバ束から構成されるグループから選択される、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光ロッドは、第1の端部および第2の端部を有し、該第1の端部は、前記光源の前記実質的に平面の発光表面に隣接しており、該第2の端部は、光ガイドに隣接する、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 内視鏡内に配置される、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 照明装置であって、
実質的に平面の発光表面を含む光源と、
光ロッドと該実質的に平面の発光表面とを光学的に連結するために、該実質的に平面の発光表面に隣接して配置される光テーパと
を備えている、照明装置。 - 前記実質的に平面の発光表面は、発光ダイオードチップの発光表面を備えている、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記実質的に平面の発光表面は、前記発光ダイオードチップが起動されたとき光を発する物質の膜によってコーティングされた該発光ダイオードチップの発光表面を備えている、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記実質的に平面の発光表面は、前記発光ダイオードチップの発光表面の上に配置された透明の実質的に平面の窓を備えている、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光テーパは第1の端部および第2の端部を含み、該第1の端部は該第2の端部よりも小さい表面積を有する、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記第1の端部は、前記光源の前記実質的に平面の発光表面と直接に接触している、請求項15に記載の照明装置。
- 前記第2の端部は、前記光源の前記実質的に平面の発光表面と直接に接触している、請求項15に記載の照明装置。
- 接着剤または屈折率整合材が、前記光テーパと前記実質的に平面の発光表面との間に配置される、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 気体が、前記光テーパと前記実質的に平面の発光表面との間に配置される、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光テーパは、ガラス光テーパを備えている、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光テーパは、プラスチック光テーパを備えている、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光テーパは、複数のファイバを備えている、請求項11に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光テーパの前記第1の端部は、前記光源の前記実質的に平面の発光表面に隣接しており、該光テーパの前記第2の端部は、光ガイドに隣接している、請求項15に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光テーパの前記第1の端部は、前記光源の前記実質的に平面の発光表面に隣接しており、該光テーパの前記第2の端部は、光ポストテーパに隣接している、請求項15に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光ポストテーパの光受容端部は、前記光テーパに隣接しており、該光ポストテーパの光伝送端部は、光ガイドにとりつけられる、請求項24に記載の照明装置。
