Abstract
Description
実施例1〜4について以下の各布帛層の20枚の層を、面密度約4.1kg/sqmの約15”×15”(38cm×38cm)サイズパネルの様々な複合体構造へと作製した。
この比較実施例では、基本の布帛層の21枚の層を、面密度約4.1kg/sqmの約15−インチ×15−インチ(38cm×38cm)パネルの複合体構造へと作製した。実施例1〜4で用いたのと同じNIJレベルIIの試験プロトコルに基づいて、防弾試験を行った。
この比較実施例は、洗い流してから、基本の布帛を、トルエン中7%溶液から約8.5wt%の中E/MAで塗膜することにより作製した。塗膜布帛の19枚の層を、面密度約4.1kg/sqmの約15”×15”(38cm×38cm)パネルの複合体構造へと作製した。実施例1〜4で用いたのと同じNIJレベルIIの試験プロトコルに基づいて、防弾試験を行った。
この比較実施例は、基本の布帛層に、厚さ約23マイクロメートルのサーリン(Surlyn)(登録商標)フィルムを、約127℃および100psiのプレス条件下で、約20分間、積層することにより作製した。サーリン(Surlyn)(登録商標)は、デュポン(DuPont)より入手可能である。17枚の層を、面密度約4.1kg/sqmの約15”×15”サイズパネルの複合体構造へと作製した。実施例1〜4で用いたのと同じNIJレベルIIの試験プロトコルに基づいて、防弾試験を行った。
ポリアラミド織布の実施例に、様々な量の中E/MAか高E/MAを塗膜した。比較実施例については、布帛を、テキサス州、ヒューストンのクラトンポリマーズ社(Kraton Polymers Co.,Houston TX)より入手可能なクラトン(Kraton)(登録商標)固形接着剤で塗膜した。6cm×6cmの試験試料を、反対の対角部を把持することにより伸張した。この試験は、縦糸および横糸方向に45度の角度で歪みを印加する、低歪み速度(0.2インチ/分(0.5cm/分))での面内剪断変形特性を実質的に求めるものである。ロードセルを保護し、かつ、布帛に対する繊維の損傷を防いで、多数回のサイクルを同じ試料に適用できるようにするために、布帛の強度に対して弱い力で試験を終了する。特定の理論に拘束されることは意図するところではないが、比較実施例と実証済みの実施例は元々は同様に挙動するものと考えられる。ロードが増加するにつれて、本発明の実施例のポリマー接着剤の「靭帯」が、捻られ、伸張されるにつれて大きな脱離が生じ、一方、比較実施例においては、繊維束の自由な捻りや滑りが生じる。最終的に、より高い伸張レベルで、布帛自身が、最高応力で実質的にロードされ始めるまで、「靭帯」は、過伸張され、次第に破壊される。診断伸張データを表2に示してある。
Claims (12)
- 複数の布帛層を含んでなる貫通抵抗性物品であって、少なくとも1つの層が、
繊維とポリマーとを含んでなり、ポリマーが、
マイナス40〜0℃の範囲のガラス転移温度、および
20℃で2×106〜1013ポアズのゼロ剪断溶融粘度を有し、
物品の面密度が、1.5 lb/ft2(90.5g/m2)未満であり、ポリマーが、布帛の1〜8重量パーセントである物品。 - 布帛層の繊維が芳香族ポリアミド、ポリオレフィン、ポリベンゾオキサゾール、ポリベンゾチアゾール、ポリ{2,6−ジイミダゾ[4,5−b4’,5’−e]ピリジニレン−1,4(2,5−ジヒドロキシ)フェニレン}、ポリアレーンアゾール、ポリピリダゾール、ポリピリドビスイミダゾールおよびこれらの混合物よりなる群から選択される請求項1に記載の物品。
- ポリマーがエチレン/メチルアクリレート、ポリビニルプロピオネート、ポリ(ヘキシルメタクリレート)およびこれらの混合物よりなる群から選択される請求項1に記載の物品。
- 10〜60枚の層を有する請求項1に記載の物品。
- ポリマーが布帛上に塗膜されている請求項1に記載の物品。
- ポリマーが布帛構造に少なくとも部分的に含浸されている請求項1に記載の物品。
- ポリマーがエチレン/メチルアクリレートである請求項5に記載の物品。
- 少なくとも1枚の塗膜された層が自己回復性であり、布帛の面内歪みに関連するピーク力において少なくとも50%の回復を示す請求項5に記載の物品。
- NIJ規格0101.04に準拠して試験したとき、背面変形が44mm未満である請求項1に記載の物品。
- ポリマーが布帛の1〜8重量パーセントを構成する請求項7に記載の貫通抵抗性物品。
- 複数の布帛層を含んでなる貫通抵抗性物品であって、少なくとも1枚の層が、繊維と、層の8重量%以下であるポリマーとを含んでなり、物品がNIJ規格0101.04に準拠して試験したときに、該ポリマーを含まない同一構造の物品に比べて背面変形において少なくとも10%の改善を有する物品。
- 布帛が織布である請求項1に記載の貫通抵抗性物品。
