本明細書は多くの構造を開示しているが、この構造は心筋組織に使用するのに非常に適しているため、主として心臓治療のコンテキストにて開示する。しかしながら、この構造は、他の種類の柔組織に関する治療にも応用できると理解されるべきである。例えば、本発明の様々な態洋には、前立腺、肝臓、脳、胆のう、子宮、胸、肺、およびその他の固形器官などの体のその他の部位に関する手順におけるアプリケーションがある。
本発明の一実施例によるハイブリッド損傷形成装置は一般的に、図1に符号1によって示されている。実施例は、外科用プローブ構成部材100とクランプ構成部材200とを含む。実施例のクランプ構成部材200は、取り外し可能にクランプに固定するよう構成され、従来のクランプを電気生理装置に変換して、以下により詳細に説明する方法で損傷を形成するのに用いられる。代替的に他の実施例では、クランプ構成部材がクランプ自体を具えていてもよい。外科用プローブ構成部材100およびクランプ構成部材200は共通の電子コネクタを共有することが好適である。これは、図13を参照して以下に説明する方法で、ハイブリッド損傷形成装置10を電気外科装置(“ESU”)に接続するのに使用されている。
非伝導性の外部ポリマーコーティング112を具える近位部108と、可鍛性マンドレル116および非導電性のマルチルーメン外部構造118を具える遠位部114からなる。近位部108は通常、長さが約15から40cmであり、一方、遠位部は通常、長さが約6から15cmである。可鍛性マンドレル116の近位端は、例えば、はんだ、スポット溶接、または接着剤により、ハイポチューブ110の遠位端の内側面に固定される。また、クリンプや機械的締結具といった機械的な方法を用いてもよい。可鍛性マンドレル116の遠位端は、先端部材120に固定されている。例示的な先端部材120には、縫糸用開口121(または縫糸用溝)が設けられている。所要であれば、医師は、縫糸を縫糸用開口121(または縫糸用溝の周囲)に通し、縫糸を用いてシャフト102を身体の組織の周囲で引っ張ることができる。
本発明の一実施例による組織凝固システム1000が、図13に示されている。例示的なシステム1000は、ハイブリッド損傷形成装置10と、液体供給および制御装置300と、電力供給および制御装置320とを具える。さらに、クランプ構成部材200は、クラン部202に取付けられて、クランプベースの組織凝固デバイスが形成されている。

- シャフトと、当該シャフトに設けられた少なくとも一のエネルギー伝達デバイスと、前記少なくとも一のエネルギー伝達デバイスに操作可能に接続された電気コネクタとを含むプローブ構成部材と、
前記プローブ構成部材の電気コネクタに操作可能に接続されたエネルギー伝達デバイスを少なくとも一つ含むクランプ構成部材とを具えることを特徴とする損傷形成装置。 - 請求項1に記載の装置において、前記プローブ構成部材が外科用プローブ構成部材を具えることを特徴とする装置。
- 請求項1に記載の装置において、前記プローブ構成部材のシャフトが、比較的短くて硬質のシャフトを具えることを特徴とする装置。
- 請求項1に記載の装置において、前記プローブ構成部材の少なくとも一のエネルギー伝達デバイスが電極を具えることを特徴とする装置。

- 請求項19に記載のシステムにおいて、前記プローブ構成部材のシャフトが比較的短くて硬質なシャフトを具えることを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項19に記載のシステムにおいて、前記プローブ構成部材の少なくとも一のエネルギー伝達デバイスが、間隔を空けて配置される複数のエネルギー伝達デバイスを具えることを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項19に記載のシステムにおいて、前記プローブ構成部材がハンドルを具え、前記プローブ構成部材の電気コネクタが、前記ハンドル内に少なくとも部分的に配置されることを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項19に記載のシステムにおいて、前記クランプ構成部材が第1および第2のサポート構造を具え、前記クランプ構成部材の少なくとも一のエネルギー伝達デバイスが、前記第1および第2のサポート構造にそれぞれ設けられた第1および第2のエネルギー伝達デバイスを具えることを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項19に記載のシステムにおいて、クランプ構成部材の少なくとも一のエネルギー伝達デバイスが、第1および第2のエネルギー伝達デバイスを具え、前記クランプ構成部材が、前記第1のエネルギー伝達デバイスを第1のクランプ部材に取付けるよう構成された第1の取付デバイスと、前記第2のエネルギー伝達デバイスを第2のクランプ部材に取付けるよう構成された第2の取付デバイスとを具えることを特徴とするシステム。
