補強バンド(1)の材質は、鋼材が望ましく、腐食しやすい材質を用いる場合は、防錆のために材料表面に、溶融亜鉛めっき、ニッケルめっき、クロムめっき等の処理を施すことが望ましい。補強バンド(1)の大きさは、作業者が手で持ち歩ける程度の大きさであることが望ましい。補強バンド(1)は鉄骨(2)の全周を覆うものではなく、鉄骨開口部(5)を覆うことができれば問題ない。鉄骨開口部(5)を覆い密着させ、固定すれば、鉄骨(2)の断面が閉断面となり、開断面よりも高い強度が得られる。
