Abstract

Description
本明細書に記載した実施形態は、全体的には、それに対して作動可能に連結された少なくとも1つの取付けフランジを有する主要複合材構造体を含む物品に関し、本物品は、主要複合材構造体と取付け補助的構造体との両方に対する厳しい部品損傷の発生を減少させると同時に、壊滅的な部品破損を排除するのを助けることができる。本明細書における実施形態では、全体としてガスタービンエンジンの複合材ファンケーシング上の一体形取付けフランジに焦点を当てているが、説明はそのようなものに限定されるべきではないことは、当業者には分かるであろう。実際に、以下の記述が説明しているように、本明細書に記載した一体形取付けフランジは、あらゆるほぼ円筒形状の複合材構造体上で利用することができる。
本明細書に記載したような取付けフランジを製作する方法は一般に、主要複合材構造体の周りにコア繊維を取付け、その後コア繊維をファンケーシング又はその他の主要複合材構造体に対して作動可能に連結するように付着繊維を取付ける段階を含むことができる。より具体的には、図6のステップ100に示すように、取付けフランジの製作は、ファンケーシング16のような周辺部を有する主要複合材構造体を準備する段階で始まることができる。1つの実施形態では、主要複合材構造体は、最終硬化を除けば、完成したものとすることができる。次にステップ102において、取付けフランジが望ましい各位置において、ファンケーシング16の本体40の周りに、対応する形状のガイド60を配置することができる。ガイド60は、例えば収縮テープによって所定の位置に着脱自在に保持することができる。1つの実施形態では、ガイド60は、各々がファンケーシング16の本体40の周りで180°にわたって延びる個別の弓形部材で構成することができる。ガイド60の弓形部材は、ファンケーシング16の周りでの容易な配置及び調整のために互いに解除可能に連結することができる。しかしながら、ガイド60は、あらゆる数の部片で構成することができ、また主要複合材構造体の形状に対応したあらゆる形状を有することができることが分かるであろう。ガイド60は、本明細書で以下に説明するように、コア繊維及び付着繊維の両方を後で取付けるための支持体として働くことができる。前に言及したように、ガイド60は、円周方向に延びかつ図示するようにL字形状の断面を有するものとすることができ、また例えばアルミニウム又は複合材のようなあらゆる剛性がありかつ軽量の材料で作ることができる。
