Description

The present invention relates to a metal golf club head having good feel and sound.

The size of metal golf club heads having hollow portions has been increased, and so-called driver heads having loft angles of 13 degrees or less have head volumes exceeding 300 cc, and those having a head volume of 350 cc to 500 cc have become mainstream. In the case of a driver head, the head weight is 200 g or less, preferably about 180 g to 195 g, and the specific gravity of the titanium alloy is 4.2 to 5.0, so that the thickness of the crown part, the side part and the sole part is reduced. In some cases, the thickness of the face portion is also partially reduced.

Previously, a driver head having a hollow portion made of a titanium alloy (for example, Ti-6Al-4V) manufactured by casting has a crown portion, a sole portion and a side portion having a thickness of about 1.2 mm, and a face portion having a thickness of about 1.2 mm. The thickness was about 3 mm. Recently, a plate material is press-molded with a β-type titanium alloy or the like to produce golf club head parts (a sole part, a side part, a crown part, a face part, or a combination of two or more thereof). Thereafter, these are fixed by welding to produce a golf club head having a hollow portion (see, for example, Patent Document 1). In casting, the lost wax manufacturing method (investment casting method) was used to melt the metal and cast it into a ceramic mold. Although it was difficult to reduce the thickness of each part, each part of the golf club head was manufactured by press molding. In this method, since the thickness of each part can be reduced, a thickness of 1 mm or less is also possible, and a larger golf club head can be manufactured.

However, as the golf club head becomes thinner and larger, the golf club head vibrates when the golf ball is hit, which has an unfavorable effect on feel and sound.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a metal golf club head in which both the hit feeling and the hitting sound are improved.

In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a metal golf club head characterized in that a magnesium alloy screw subjected to anticorrosion treatment is attached to a predetermined portion of the metal head main body.

The metal golf club head of the present invention effectively attenuates the vibration of the golf club head when the golf ball is hit with a magnesium alloy screw subjected to anticorrosion treatment, and improves both the feel and sound. It is.

Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail. In the present invention, the material of the metal head main body is not limited, and examples thereof include titanium alloy, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, and low carbon steel (for example, S15C and S25C). The metal head main body may be integrally formed by casting, or may be a plurality of parts joined by welding or the like.

The type of the metal head body used in the present invention is not limited, but a thin and lightweight driver head is particularly preferable. For example, a titanium alloy (for example, specific gravity of about 4.5) or an aluminum alloy (for example, specific gravity of about 2). .7) can be suitably used as the driver head having a head volume of 300 to 500 cc. Further, in a head made of stainless steel having a large specific gravity (for example, a specific gravity of 7.8), a driver head having a head volume of 200 to 300 cc can be suitably used. As for the thickness of the head, it is appropriate that the thinnest part of the crown part, the sole part, and the side part is 0.5 to 1.0 mm, particularly 0.6 mm to 0.9 mm. Furthermore, the metal head body used in the present invention may be not only a hollow golf club head but also a solid golf club head such as an iron club head.

In the present invention, the type of magnesium alloy is not limited, but magnesium added with aluminum and zinc can be suitably used. More specifically, AZ31 alloy in which 3% by mass of aluminum and 1% by mass of zinc are added to magnesium, AZ61 alloy in which 6% by mass of aluminum and 1% by mass of zinc are added to magnesium, 9% by mass of aluminum in magnesium, Although AZ91 alloy etc. which added 1 mass% of zinc can be used suitably, it is not limited to these.

The weight of the magnesium alloy screw used in the present invention is preferably 1 to 5 g per piece. If the screw is too light, the head vibration is not effective, and if it is too heavy, the head weight is affected, which is not preferable. The magnesium alloy has a specific gravity of about 1.7 to 2.0. The magnesium alloy has a Young's modulus of 44 to 45 GPa, a value less than half that of the titanium alloy, and a value of about 60 to 70% that of the aluminum alloy.

Since the magnesium alloy is easily corroded, the screw surface is subjected to anticorrosion treatment. Specifically, anticorrosion treatment of the screw surface is performed by chromate (hexavalent chromate) treatment, permanganate treatment, anodizing treatment, zinc phosphate treatment, etc. It is possible to carry out anticorrosion treatment on the screw surface by coating. In the present invention, the anticorrosion treatment includes rust prevention treatment.

Particularly preferable as the anticorrosion treatment is to form an oxide film on the screw surface by using an anodizing method or the like. Also, since magnesium alloy is susceptible to electrolytic corrosion due to contact with different metals, it is preferable to coat at least the male thread portion of the magnesium alloy screw. Furthermore, it is preferable to paint also on the female thread part of the head main body which the magnesium alloy screw contacts. For the coating, it is appropriate to use an epoxy paint having good adhesion to the magnesium alloy having an oxide film formed on the surface.

In the present invention, a magnesium alloy screw can be produced by machining using a magnesium alloy round bar. Magnesium alloys have a lower cutting resistance than aluminum alloys and stainless steel, and are therefore easy to machine. The magnesium alloy screw can be manufactured by machining, and after removing dirt on the surface by alkali cleaning, acid cleaning can be performed for anticorrosion treatment.

In the present invention, the adhesive can be applied to the male screw portion of the magnesium alloy screw or the female screw portion of the head main body to which the male screw portion of the magnesium alloy screw is screwed. It can prevent effectively that it remove | deviates from a head main body. As the adhesive, for example, an epoxy adhesive can be used. In the present invention, the adhesion between the screw and the head body can be improved by subjecting the magnesium alloy screw to anticorrosion treatment.

In the present invention, after the magnesium alloy screw is attached to the head body, the surface of the head body can be coated. In this case, since the coating film covers the gap between the head body and the magnesium alloy screw, dust and moisture can be prevented from entering the gap. Alternatively, an anaerobic adhesive having excellent permeability such as an acrylic adhesive may be injected into the gap between the head body and the magnesium alloy screw. The anaerobic adhesive enters the gap between the head main body and the magnesium alloy screw and hardens, so that it is possible to obtain an effect of loosening the screw and preventing dust and moisture from entering the gap.

In the present invention, a magnesium alloy screw is attached to the side portion of the metal head main body, and in particular, a concave portion is provided in the side portion of the metal head main body, and the magnesium alloy screw is attached in this concave portion so as not to protrude from the concave portion. Is preferred. When a magnesium alloy screw is attached to the sole part, the sole part comes into contact with the ground during the swing, so the magnesium alloy screw is scratched and the oxide film or paint is peeled off, and the magnesium alloy screw is removed from the scratched part. However, when a magnesium alloy screw is attached to the side portion, the above-described disadvantage does not occur. Moreover, it is possible to effectively prevent the magnesium alloy screw from being damaged by attaching the magnesium alloy screw so as not to protrude from the recess in the recess provided in the side portion of the head body. In this case, it is preferable to form a thick part in the side part of the metal head main body and to provide the concave part in the thick part. Moreover, it is preferable that the said recessed part protrudes in the hollow part of a head main body from the outer surface of a head main body.

According to the metal golf club head of the present invention, a favorable feel and sound can be obtained.

As shown in FIG. 3, the screw 32 has a large-diameter portion 28 and a small-diameter portion 36 corresponding to the large-diameter portion 28 and the small-diameter portion 30 of the concave portions 24 and 26, and a male screw 37 is provided on the peripheral surface of the small-diameter portion 36. The formed screw is fixed to the head body 10 by screwing the small-diameter portion 36 into the female screw 39 formed in the small-diameter portion 30 of the recesses 24 and 26. In this example, a slight gap is formed between the inner peripheral surface of the large-diameter portion 28 of the recesses 24 and 26 and the outer peripheral surface of the large-diameter portion 34 of the screw 32.

In this example, an oxide film is formed on the surface of the screw 32 by anodic oxidation, and an epoxy-based paint is applied thereon. An epoxy paint is also applied to the inner peripheral surfaces of the recesses 24 and 26. Further, an anaerobic adhesive 41 is injected into a gap between the head body 10 and the screw 32 (a gap between the step portions of the recesses 24 and 26 and the step portion of the screw 32).

In the above example, the screws are arranged on the toe side portion and the heel side portion, but the arrangement location of the screws in the present invention is not limited to this, and the toe side portion 16 and the heel side portion 18 are not limited thereto. And a screw | thread can be suitably arrange | positioned in one place or two or more places chosen from the back side part 20. FIG.

Golf clubs were produced using the above metal golf club heads, and the hit feeling and the hitting sound were evaluated by the golfer's actual hitting. Further, a hollow iron golf club head (Comparative Example 1) in which nylon screws are fixed as screws in two recesses, and a hollow iron golf club head in which stainless steel screws are fixed as screws in two recesses (Comparison) A similar evaluation was carried out using Example 2). The weight of the magnesium alloy screw was 1.5 g / piece, the nylon screw weight was 0.9 g / piece, and the stainless steel screw weight was 6.5 g / piece. As a result, the golfer evaluated the following: It became something like this.
(Metal Golf Club Head of Example)
The sound is intermediate between a club head using a stainless steel screw and a club head using a nylon screw.
・ There is no noise and a high sound is heard.
・ It feels like only sound.
-There is a feeling of playing the ball on the face, just good.
(Metal Golf Club Head of Comparative Example 1)
・ Sound is muffled.
-Mild feel, but somewhat unsatisfactory.
・ The feeling of hitting cannot be transmitted.
・ Since there is no feeling of sound and there is little feeling of playing, there is no feeling that the ball flies far away. (Metal Golf Club Head of Comparative Example 2)
・ The sound resonates and the head feels hard.
・ Sound is high.
・ There is a feeling of playing the ball on the face, and the ball feels away quickly.
・ It feels difficult to fly by controlling the ball.

Further, using the golf club heads of the example, comparative example 1 and comparative example 2, the relationship between the vibration frequency of the head and the damping ratio was examined by modal analysis. Modal analysis is an analysis method described below. That is, when a force is applied to the structure from the outside, the structure starts to vibrate and continuously vibrates. This vibration has a specific shape (natural mode), vibrates at a specific frequency (natural vibration), and attenuates (mode damping ratio). The modal analysis is an analysis method for obtaining this inherent dynamic property (modal parameter), that is, the natural mode, natural vibration, and mode damping ratio. In this experiment, the vibration characteristics of the golf club head were evaluated by modal analysis using an impact hammer. The results are shown in the graph of FIG.

The golf club head of the example using magnesium alloy screws has a higher damping ratio than the golf club head of Comparative Example 2 using stainless steel screws in the low frequency region, and stainless steel screws in the high frequency region of 5000 Hz or higher. It can be seen that the damping ratio is equivalent to that of the golf club head of Comparative Example 2 used, and it has appropriate vibration damping characteristics. On the other hand, it can be seen that the golf club head of Comparative Example 1 using nylon screws has a high damping ratio in all frequency regions, and the vibration suppression effect is too high. Further, it can be seen that the golf club head of Comparative Example 2 using stainless steel screws has a low damping ratio in all frequency regions and a low vibration suppressing effect.
