Description
Claims (15)
- 雄雌電極ジョイントに使用するグラファイト電極であって、前記電極が雄突出部を含んでなり、前記雄突出部の長さと前記電極の直径との比が少なくとも約0.60である、グラファイト電極。
- 前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径と前記雄突出部の長さとの比が、前記雄突出部の長さと前記電極直径との比の約2.5倍を超えない、請求項1に記載のグラファイト電極。
- 前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径と前記雄突出部長さとの比が、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に応じて変化し、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.60より0.01高くなる毎に、前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径と前記雄突出部の長さとの比が、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対して約0.016低くなる、請求項2に記載のグラファイト電極。
- 雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.85以下である電極に対して、前記雄突出部のテーパーの、雄突出部長さと電極直径の比に対する比が、少なくとも約15である、請求項1に記載のグラファイト電極。
- 前記雄突出部のテーパーの、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対する比が、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に応じて変化し、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.85より0.01低くなる毎に、前記雄突出部のテーパーの、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径の比に対する比が約1.25高くなる、請求項4に記載のグラファイト電極。
- 雄突出部の長さと電極の直径との比が少なくとも約0.60である雄突出部、および、少なくとも一個の、雌ネジ付きソケットを含むグラファイト電極を含んでなる電極ジョイントであって、前記雄ネジ付き突出部が前記雌ネジ付きソケットと噛み合い、前記接合部を形成する、接合部。
- 前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径と前記雄突出部の長さとの比が、前記雄突出部の長さと前記電極直径との比の約2.5倍を超えない、請求項6に記載の接合部。
- 前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径と、前記雄突出部長さとの比が、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に応じて変化し、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.60より0.01高くなる毎に、前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径の、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対する比が約0.016低くなる、請求項7に記載の接合部。
- 雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.85以下である第一電極に対して、前記雄突出部のテーパーの、雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対する比が少なくとも約15である、請求項6に記載の接合部。
- 前記雄突出部のテーパーの、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径の比に対する比が、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径の比と共に変化し、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径の比が0.85より0.01低くなる毎に、前記雄突出部のテーパーの、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径の比に対する比が約1.25高くなる、請求項9に記載の接合部。
- (a)コークスおよびピッチ結合剤を混合して原料ブレンドを形成すること、
(b)前記原料ブレンドを押し出して未焼成原料を形成すること、
(c)前記未焼成原料を焼成して炭素化された原料を形成すること、
(d)前記炭素化された原料を少なくとも約2500℃の温度に維持することにより、前記炭素化された原料をグラファイト化し、グラファイト化された原料を形成すること、および
(e)前記グラファイト化された原料を機械加工し、雄突出部の長さと前記グラファイト化された原料の直径との比が少なくとも約0.60である雄突出部を形成すること、
を含んでなる、グラファイト電極の製造方法。 - 前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径と前記雄突出部の長さとの比が、前記雄突出部の長さと前記電極直径との比の約2.5倍を超えない、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径と前記雄突出部長さとの比が、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に応じて変化し、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.60より0.01高くなる毎に、前記雄突出部の、その基底部における直径の、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対する比が約0.016低くなる、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.85以下である電極に対して、前記雄突出部のテーパーの、雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対する比が少なくとも約15である、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記雄突出部のテーパーの、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対する比が、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に応じて変化し、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比が0.85より0.01低くなる毎に、前記雄突出部のテーパーの、前記雄突出部長さと電極直径との比に対する比が約1.25高くなる、請求項14に記載の方法。
