Abstract
Description
Claims (25)
- ディスプレイパネルを照明するために用いられる導波管であって:
光源からの光を受光するために配置された第一面と;
光が当該導波管から出光し得る出口面とを含み;
使用時に、光が前記第一面を通じて当該導波管に入光し、当該導波管内に位置付けられた拡散材料の複数の部分によって散乱され、且つ、前記出口面を通じて当該導波管から出光するよう構成された導波管。 - 前記出口面を通じて当該導波管から出光する光は、光線のパターンを形成する、請求項1に記載の導波管。
- 前記部分の少なくとも1つを、前記部分が主として光透過的な状態と、前記部分が主として拡散的である状態との間で切り換え得る、請求項1又は2に記載の導波管。
- 複数の電極をさらに含み、前記少なくとも1つの部分は、前記光透過状態及び前記拡散状態の一方から前記光透過状態及び前記拡散状態の他方に切り換えることによって、前記電極を通じた電界の印加に応答するよう構成されている、請求項3に記載の導波管。
- 前記出口面の第一領域を通過する光は、第一地域内に均一な照明を生成するのに対し、前記出口面の第二領域を通過する光は、第二地域内に光線のパターンを生成する、請求項3又は4に記載の導波管。
- 前記複数の電極は、一組の列電極を含む、請求項4に従属するときの請求項5に記載の導波管。
- 前記複数の電極は、一組の行電極をさらに含む、請求項6に記載の導波管。
- 前記複数の電極は、二次元配列の電極を含む、請求項4に従属するときの請求項5に記載の導波管。
- アクティブマトリックスをさらに含む、請求項8に記載の導波管。
- 反射面を含み、該反射面は、少なくとも1つの部分によって散乱される光を、前記出口面から離れて導く方向に反射するよう構成されている、上記請求項のうちいずれか1項に記載の導波管。
- 前記拡散材料は液晶を含む、上記請求項のうちいずれか1項に記載の導波管。
- 前記拡散材料は液晶ジェルである、請求項11に記載の導波管。
- ディスプレイパネルと;
該ディスプレイパネルを照明するよう構成された照明システムとを含み;
該照明システムは、光源と、上記請求項のうちいずれか1項に記載の導波管とを含む、
ディスプレイ。 - 前記出口面を出光する光が光線のパターンを形成するよう、前記部分の少なくとも1つを、前記部分が主として光透過的である状態と、前記部分が主として拡散的である状態との間で切り換え得るディスプレイであって:
視聴者の位置を決定するための構成と;
検出された視聴者の位置に従って前記光線の位置を変化させるために、1つ又はそれ以上の前記部分を切り換えるための手段と;
前記ディスプレイパネル上に表示される画像を調節するための手段とを含む、請求項13に記載のディスプレイ。 - 請求項13又は14に記載のディスプレイを含む通信装置。
- 請求項13又は14に記載のディスプレイを含むコンピュータ装置。
- 請求項13又は14に記載のディスプレイを含む音声/視覚機器。
- ディスプレイパネルの上に画像を表示するステップと;
光源及び導波管を用いて、前記ディスプレイパネルのためのバックライトをもたらすステップとを含み;
前記導波管は、拡散材料層を含み、前記バックライトをもたらすステップは、前記拡散材料層の少なくとも1つの部分の光学特性を設定するステップを含む、
画像を提示する方法。 - 前記光学特性を設定するステップは、前記少なくとも1つの部分に亘って電位差を加えるステップを含む、請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記光学特性を設定するステップは、前記拡散材料層の少なくとも1つの部分を、該部分が主として光透過的である状態と、前記部分が主として拡散的である状態との間で切り換えるステップを含む、請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記部分の光学特性は、前記バックライトが、複数の光線を含み、且つ、前記画像が3D画像であるよう設定される、請求項18、19、又は、20に記載の方法。
- 前記部分の光学特性は、均一な照明が生成され、且つ、前記画像が2D画像であるよう設定される、請求項18、19、又は、20に記載の方法。
- 前記領域を、3D画像を照明するために複数の光線が生成される第一モードと、2D画像を照明するために均一な照明が生成される第二モードとの間で切り換えるステップを含む、請求項18、19、又は、20に記載の方法。
- 前記バックライトが、均一な照明を用いて前記ディスプレイパネルの第一地域を照明し、且つ、複数の光線を用いて前記ディスプレイパネルの第二地域を照明し、前記ディスプレイパネル上に表示される画像は、前記第一地域内の2D画像と、前記第二地域内の3D画像とを含む、請求項21又は23に記載の方法。
- 視聴者の位置を決定するステップと、前記決定された視聴者位置に従って、前記光線のパターン及び前記画像を調節するステップを含む、請求項21、23、又は、24のうちいずれか1項に記載の方法。
