Abstract
【解決手段】送信帯域幅は、送信しサービス要求を満たすために、要求に応じた適切な帯域幅を利用することによって動的に調整される。要求された帯域幅は、本発明により、特定の帯域スペクトルが現在の配分のまま別の目的を果たし、システムの積極的な利用を可能にするために可変的に使用されるようにスペクトル配分を再配分することにより提供される。本通信システムは、固定および携帯端末両方への最終的送達のために無線通信を利用する設計になっている。本システムは、基本的な電話サービス、無線ISDNサービス、無線データ・サービス、無線マルチメディア・サービス、その他会話型および放送ビデオを含むさまざまな無線広帯域サービスを供給する。

Description
しかし、無線システムは、束縛のないその性質から、本来柔軟性を備えている。エンドユーザが通信事業者を変更しても、無線端子装置は回収・再配置できるため、投下資本が取り残されることはない。
需要パターンに合わせた需要スケジュールを基礎として同一の帯域幅/チャンネルを別々のサービスへ配分/共用することで、スペクトル効率は向上する。インターフェイスを使用した別のシナリオでは、チャンネルは需要動向を基礎として各サービスへ配分される。
さらに本ネットワーク・アーキテクチャは、エンド・ツー・エンド・ネットワークを基礎とした統合サービスを提供するために、一組のネットワーク・サーバーと、サーバーとエンドユーザ・デバイス間の信号法/制御手段を提供する。
図は、本発明の原理を具体化した広帯域無線ネットワークのネットワーク位相の一つの態様を描く。ATM(非同期転送モード)ネットワーク101およびSTM(同期転送モード)ネットワーク102は、ファイバ・ベースのSONET/SDHアクセス・リング104へ順番に結合されたサービス・ノード103と接続して示される。ファイバ・ベースのSONET/SDHリングをアクセスおよびリンク目的に使用するのは説明用であって、開示されたネットワーク説明図の本質ではない。固定地点間のマイクロ波通信や赤外線通信を含めた非ファイバ送信を使用した星状ネットワークは、使用が容易である。アクセスノード105−1から105−4は、SONET/SDHアクセス・リング104を、多数のアクセス・アンテナまたはインテリジェント・マイクロポート(IMP)106−1から106−4と連結する。インテリジェント・マイクロポート106−2は、顧客宅内のアクセス導波器または無線中継器107へ無線で接続されて示される。このアクセス導波器/無線中継器は多数の機器機能[電話、ISDN端末データ通信デバイス(例えば、PC)、信号デバイス/附属品、テレビ/受像器の枠、マルチメディア・ワークステーション等を含む]を有し、それぞれことなる帯域幅可能出力を要求する一連の幅広い狭帯域/広帯域サービスを提供する。また、マイクロポート106−2は、顧客構外での無線ハンドセット108としての用に直接供されるものとして示されている。マイクロポート106−4は、宅内での当該サービスと似た方法による工場/オフィスサイトでの結合サービスとして示される。衛星地上局109は、SONET/SDHアクセス・リング104を、アクセスノード105−4を経由して衛星110と接続するものとして示される。SONET/SDHアクセス・リング104とエンドユーザ受信者との間の通信は無線で行われ、スペクトルを特定のサービスまたは利用形態に必要な十分な帯域幅のある複数チャンネルに分割することを可能にする。
特定のエンドユーザにとってのネットワーク通信の点で広帯域無線ネットワークに適したアーキテクチャを、図2に示す。チャンネル配分サーバー222は、全時間帯における別々のサービスの利用に関する情報を識別し保存し、個々のサービスへのスペクトルの静的および動的な再配分を制御するために用意される。
信号サーバー213は、エンドユーザ・デバイスとネットワーク内部信号システム間のゲートウェイとして活動し、課金/OAM&P(運営、管理、保守および提供)データの課金/OAM&Pサーバーへの分配等、制御データの他のサーバーへの分配など、エンドユーザ・デバイスへの信号サービスを提供する。IVODサーバー214は、IVODサービス、普通のビデオの改良(例えば、会話型のポーズ、巻き戻しなど)、メニュー形式のユーザ・インターフェースなどをサポートする。課金/OAM&Pサーバー215は、あらゆる特別サービス・オプションおよびプラン(例えば、固定料金で1か月あたり60分のプログラム利用)を含めてすべてのサービスを通じたエンドユーザへの統合課金/OAM&Pを提供する。保安サーバー218は、サービス提供者およびエンドユーザに対して安全性確認および不正行為防止サービスを提供する。顧客サービス・プロフィール・サーバー216は、加入者サーバーの優先性などを含むエンドユーザ・データを保存する。位置およびユーザ登録サーバー217は、ユーザの現在位置に関するリアルタイム・データおよびサービス領域関連データを保持する。
本発明の原理にしたがった利用可能なスペクトルの配分または分割を、図3に示す。サービスチャンネル・マップは、いかに多種類のチャンネルが多種類の例示されたサービス・クラスへ配分されるかを示す。それぞれ6または10MHzの帯域幅のあるチャンネルのブロックを、直線状に並べて示した。2つのチャンネル301は別に主たる列から離して示される。これらのチャンネルは接続セットアップ信号および会話型コマンドの制御の用に供される。これらはまた、すべてのサービスを統合した方法により、エンド・ツー・エンドベースでのエンドユーザへのサービスの提供、課金/OAM&P、および保守に有益なデータを伝送する。エンドユーザ端末とネットワーク・サーバー(図2の213から222)の間で通信されるデータには、ユーザ識別番号、宛先アドレス、確認サービス要求コード、有料オプション、OAM&Pメッセージ、保安/暗号コード、サービス優先度、位置、要求されるサービスのグレードなどが含まれる。このデータを使い、ネットワーク・サーバーがサービス要求に応じてエンドユーザへサービスを提供する。チャンネル301は本実施例での無線パケット信号チャンネルで、2個の6MHzチャンネルで構成される。このようなメッセージのサポート需要の量に基づき、チャンネル301の利用に加えてチャンネル308(補助パケット・レスポンス・チャンネル)をこの信号および制御メッセージ用に使用することができる。最後に、専用チャンネル(301、308)に加えて、ベアラー・サービスに使用するものと同じチャンネル(303−307)を経由してこれらのメッセージを交換することも可能である。
図4は、静的チャンネル配分のプロセスをフローチャートで示す。このプロセスは、既知の顧客の一定間隔でのチャンネル再配分にあわせるために、定期的に反復される。このプロセスは、チャンネルと帯域幅を、特定の日の、および一日のうちの特定の時間帯についての確立したトラヒック・パターンに基づき配分する。第一プロセス・ブロック401の命令は、曜日と時刻をモニターし、トラヒック需要に関係する特例日への該当性を調べる。トラヒック需要は特定のサービスごとに分類され、配分アルゴリズムによりサービス・クラスsiからサービス・クラスsjまでのCsisjにしたがってTk時のチャンネル転送を特定するために評価される。続く判断ブロック403は、静的チャンネル配分が必要かどうかを判断するためにブロック401のデータを評価する。その結果がノーであれば、フローは端子409を通って図5に示される動的配分フロー・プロセスへ進む。静的配分が必要であれば、フローは、予想トラヒック需要に合わせるためのチャンネル再配分を決定するための命令ブロック405へ進む。このプロセスでは、チャンネルCsisjは、サービス・クラスsiからサービス・クラスsjまで、j=1からNまででiがjと等価ではなく、かつCsisj=−Csisjであるすべてのiとjとを動く。つぎにフローは、端子411を通って図5のプロセスへ進む。
動的配分のプロセスは、図5のフローチャートで叙述される。これは、図4に示されたプロセスからつながる端子500から始まる。初期命令ブロック501は、既存のチャンネル配分とサービスのための帯域幅を定義する。このフロー・プロセスは、端子502を経由した図4の静的プロセスからの切り替えに対応して、判断ブロック503へのエントリーで開始する。ブロック503の命令は、空きチャンネル容量を判断し、義務的なサービス・クラス(例えば、既存のサービス配分)へ配分された空きチャンネル数を、システム内で別の候補サービスSjへ配分されるであろう最小チャンネル・ブロック数の域値ΔCで、一定の時間間隔で比較する。この最小数は、後述の図7に関して論じられる移動の増分ΔCに対応する。利用可能な空き容量がこの域値を越えないならば、こういった目的に利用可能な空きチャンネル数を再評価するために、このプロセスは循環する。
域値の要求を満足するのに十分な数のチャンネルの存在が判断されたら、次の判断ブロック505は、ブロック503の評価で調査したのと同じ期間における候補サービスへ配分されるチャンネル上の通過障害の有無を判断する。このような通過障害がなければ、フローはブロック503の入力へ戻る。
サービス・クラスが全部評価されていなければ、フローはiまたはjを増加させる命令ブロック511へ進み、ついで動的配分プロセスが再開するブロック503の入力へ戻る。
チャンネル配分の手続きは、図6に示すようにネットワーク・システム内に分散され、サービス・ノードで命令ブロック601がチャンネル占有データの測定を実施する。フローは、チャンネル配分サーバー内の判断ブロック605へ進む途中で、処理ブロック603で各サービス・クラスの通過障害発生蓋然性を試算する。チャンネル配分サーバー内で、フローは判断ブロック605へ進み、そこで静的または動的条件の変化のためにチャンネル配分を変更する必要があるかどうかを判断する。スペクトル再配分の必要がなければ、プロセスはこのブロック内の循環を継続する。スペクトル再配分の必要があれば、フローは、図4と図5のフローチャートで示した定義済みの静的および動的配分プロセスにしたがってサービス・クラスをsiからsjまで動くチャンネルCsisjを識別する命令ブロック607へ進む。
フローは、それぞれサービス・ノード、アクセス・ノード、インテリジェント・マイクロポート、およびアクセス導波器に所在する命令ブロック609、611、613、および615へ進む。ブロック609の命令はネットワーク中継線をアクセス中継線へ配分する。ブロック611の命令は、チャンネル・ブロックのマッピングを調整するためにチャンネルを多重化解除/多重化し、あるいはチャンネルを結合/分割させる。ブロック613の命令は有線チャンネルをRFチャンネルと結合させ、ブロック615の命令はインテリゲント・マイクロポートへの配分と釣り合うようにチャンネルを配分する。
サービス・クラス全体を通じたシステム内でのチャンネル再配分による増加量の説明図を、3つの円形図701、702、および703がそれぞれ別のサービス・クラス・カテゴリーを定義する図7に示した。図示した実施例において各チャンネルはことなる帯域幅の多数のダクトをもち、各チャンネル内のダクトの合計は6から10MHzである。これらのダクトは結合したり分割したりでき、特定のサービス要求用チャンネルを形成するために帯域幅にも変化をもたせてある。各ダクトまたはダクト群は、特定のサービスのサポートに関係している。これらのダクトはあるアプリケーションでは時間スロットとなり(TDM)、他のアプリケーションでは共用スペクトル帯の一部となる(CDMA)。
ディスク702に図示されたチャンネルは、通常会話型ビデオ・サービス専用であり、それぞれ3チャンネルを含む3つのセクターを含む。会話型放送ビデオ・ディスク701と会話型要求時ビデオディスク702の間を移動できるチャンネルの最小増加量は、合計3チャンネルである。第一、第二のディスク701と702は、インテリジェント・マイクロポートからエンドユーザのアクセス・アンテナへの一方向放送限定の信号である。
このチャンネル移動を(必要ではなくとも)適切に実行するための高度情報は、ネットワーク・アクセス・ポイントのインテリジェント・マイクロポートにみられる。例えば、ディスク701からディスク703へのチャンネル・アプリケーションの変更は、最小で合計6チャンネルがディスク701からディスク703で定義されたアプリケーションへ移動されることを要する。これらのチャンネルは、新しいアプリケーションを受け入れるために、受容側チャンネルがいっぱいになるまでダクト単位で詰められる。次に、追加容量を要求するサービスへ、(もしあれば)追加のチャンネルが移動される。
図8のグラフは、チャンネルとダクトに分割された周波数スペクトルの図解である。周波数帯域は本事例では198MHzが選ばれ、複数の隣接する周波数チャンネル801−1から801−Nに分割して示される。チャンネルの一つ801−Xは、チャンネルを分割したより小さい周波数帯であるいくつかのダクト802−1から802−Mまでを含む拡大図として示される。実施例図解における各チャンネル801の周波数帯は、6または10MHzである。ことなるサービスでは帯域幅の需要が変わるので、サポートするさまざまなサービスの要求に合わせるために、ダクトは動的にサイズ(すなわち、帯域幅)を変更できる。あるサービスにはある時点では単一のダクトで足りるが、他の時点ではいくつかのダクトが配分されるかもしれない。あるサービスへ配分される最適ダクト数は、そのサービスへの需要によって決まる。
符号伝送速度高(921−1、921−2、921−H)、中(911−1、911−2、911−M)、および低(901−1、901−2、901−L)のビデオ・サービス用アプリケーションへのチャンネルのスペクトル分割が、図9に描かれている。ビデオ内容は有望なMPEG(動画エキスパート・グループ)II標準を使用してコード化されており、これは幅広いコード化速度(約1.544−9Mbps)で作動する。ことなるプログラム内容はことなる速度で(例えば、映画は低速で、スポーツは高速で)最適にコード化される。MPEGIIソースの可変速度での解読は、MPEGII標準内で自動的に処理される。いくつかのチャンネルは低速コード化用に、いくつかは中速コード化用に、そしていくつかは高速コード化用に配分される。これらのプログラム・タイプ別に配分されるチャンネル数は、その時点で要求のあるプログラムの混合比率に基づく。このような配分は、時間帯や曜日に基づく静的配分、または事前調整なしでのプログラム内容の変化が要求される場合にリアルタイム・ベースの動的配分に事前に設定することも可能である。ビデオ・プログラムは、帯域幅の要求に基づき適切なチャンネルへ整理される(すなわち、チャンネル化される)。ビデオ・プログラムが別々のチャンネルおよびダクト(すなわち、チャンネルxとダクトy)へ再配分されると、その情報はIMPによりアクセス導波器へ伝送される。図解実施例の一つでは、それをマッピング・テーブルとして伝送している。
以下の定義は、上記の特許説明書中で使用された用語を定義する。
チャンネル:特定のサービス・クラスに配分された連続するスペクトルの1ブロック。
ダクト:双方向通信の一方向について一つのユーザまたはプログラムに配分されたチャンネルの細分された部分。より広い帯域の一方向送信を提供するために2以上のダクトを結合させることができる。
サブチャンネル:特定のコード化速度(すなわち、低速、中速、および高速)に属するビデオ・サービスに配分された一組のチャンネル。

無線データ:双方向対称/非対称サービス(0B+Dサービスを含む最大19.2kbpsまでのメッセージ、データおよび信号アプリケーション)をサポートする。送信は、CDMA経由で行われる。
無線ISDN:双方向対称サービスをサポートする、最大144Kbps(1B+Dから2B+D)までの速度の一群の基本速度互換ISDNサービス。送信は、CDMA経由で行われる。
無線基本音声電話(CDMA):双方向対称サービスをサポートする、32、64、または128Kbpsの音声サービス(1Bと2Bのサービス、および改良型高性能ステレオを含む)。送信は、CDMA経由で行われる。
1.狭帯域サービス・クラス:これは、基本速度ISDNのようなサービスおよび0B+D、1B+D、2Bなどを含む互換的サービスをサポートする。これはさらに、すべての基本音声電話(32Kbps、64Kbps)および無線データをサポートする。

Claims (13)
- ネットワークとエンドユーザと間の無線接続による広帯域および狭帯域サービスを提供する通信ネットワークであって、
非同期伝送モードネットワークと同期伝送モードネットワークと、
前記非同期伝送モードネットワークと前記同期伝送モードネットワークとの両方に接続され、そしてアクセスノードに接続されたサービスノードとを含み、前記アクセスノードは、エンドユーザ装置の受信アンテナにラジオ信号を放射するアンテナを含むマイクロポートに順番に接続されており、さらに、
サービスクラス全体の通過障害の確率を推定し、そしてサービス要求を充足させるために一つのサービスクラスから他のサービスクラスへ再割り当てされるべきチャンネルを識別する、前記サービスノードに接続されたチャンネル割り当てサーバーとを含み、
前記アクセスノードは、前記チャンネル上へのサービスのマッピングと適合させるのに必要なチャンネルの結合および/または分割を行うことを特徴とする通信ネットワーク。 - 前記エンドユーザ装置へ信号サービスを提供する信号サーバーを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 前記エンドユーザへの広帯域および狭帯域の全サービスの統合された課金を提供する課金作業、管理、保守および提供サーバーを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 安全性確認および不正行為防止サービスを提供する保安サーバーを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 加入者の優先性を含むエンドユーザデータを保存する顧客プロフィールサーバーを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- ユーザの位置およびサーバーエリア関連データに関するリアルタイムデータを維持するユーザ登録サーバーを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- サービス明細の全体を通し、ネットワークのエンド・ツー・エンドからエンドユーザまでの全体を通した統合サービスを提供するために、システム内ですべて統合されている信号サーバー、会話型ビデオオンデマンド(IVOD)サーバー、保安サーバー、課金作業、管理、保守、および提供サーバー、顧客サービスプロフィールサーバー、位置およびユーザー登録サーバーおよびチャンネル割り当てサーバーを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 前記アクセスノードはチャンネルを固定された複数のダクトへ分割し、前記複数のダクトの各々はその帯域幅が変化し、前記複数のダクトは固定した全体の帯域幅を有し、そして前記複数のダクトの各々の平均帯域幅は固定されたままであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 3つのセクターを有し、会話型放送ビデオサービス、会話型オンデマンドビデオサービス、および狭帯域サービスの3レベルのチャンネルを放射するセクター化されたアンテナを含む放射装置と、
一つのレベルから他へのチャネル割り当ての移転を制御するチャンネル割り当てサーバーとをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。 - 前記アクセスノードが、SONETリングでサービスノードに接続されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 前記アクセスノードが、ポイント・ツー・ポイントマイクロ波接続によりサービスノードへ接続されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 前記アクセスノードが、ポイント・ツー・ポイント赤外線接続によりサービスノードへ接続されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
- 前記アクセスノードが、星形接続によりサービスノードへ接続されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信ネットワーク。
