しかしながら、以上の技術によれば、従来のロール機とはロール機能のまったく異なる画期的な方法に依り、完全正確なテーパー管の加工が完成された。左右巾が違うRの有る板をロール間に送っても、左右同じ速度でしか送る事が出来ず、テーパー曲げ加工は施工出来ない。その為、ロールを少し送っては曲げ、ロールを緩め板の角度を直角に直して曲げる、という操作を繰り返して曲げる方法で辛うじてテーパーに近い形に曲げていた。それにしても、各曲げ部分が扇型の断続で、正確なテーパーとならず、粗雑な製品しか出来ない。
他の方法として、プレス加工により扇型に押し曲げる成型方法も有るが、プレス曲げ跡が残るのと、丸型には加工出来ず、2分割、3分割で加工して、これを接ぎ合わせて1個のテーパー管に仕上げる為、大きなコストが掛る事等が最大の課題で有った。
