本発明の模範的実施例において、無線装置上のアプリケーションと関連した起動しているイベントを処理する要素を表現しているシステムについて説明する。一実施例では、システムは少なくとも1つのアプリケーションを有するアプリケーションダウンロードサーバを含む。この記述で“アプリケーション”が使用されるが、本発明は、それと関連した起動しているパラメタを持つことができるコンテンツ、または他のデータなどのように、他の情報と共に使用されるかもしれないことに注意を要す。
一実施例では、無線装置はアプリケーションダウンロードサーバからアプリケーションをダウンロードするように要求する。アプリケーションダウンロードサーバは無線装置のためにアプリケーションを処理するかもしれない。例えば、無線装置のユーザはアプリケーションが期限満了するであろうという条件でアプリケーションがダウンロードされることを要求するかもしれない。有効期限、または、他の満了パラメタはアプリケーションと関連づけられるかもしれない。満了の他に、起動しているイベントは本発明を実行することにおける情報と関連づけられるかもしれないことは、技術に熟練した者によって認識されるであろう。
アプリケーションダウンロードサーバはまた、アプリケーションと関連した特別なデータを含むかもしれない。URLなどのこの特別なデータは、起動しているイベントが起こったとき、無線装置が追加処理のために使用することができるスクリプトまたは他のデータを含むかもしれない。起動しているイベント、および特別なデータがアプリケーションダウンロードサーバによってアプリケーションに縛られる必要はなく、無線装置と一緒に関連づけられることができる他のシステムまたはメカニズムを通して無線装置により受信されることができることを、技術に熟練した者は認識するであろう。
無線装置は情報、起動しているイベントパラメタおよび特別なデータを含んでいる。またはアプリケーションが特別なデータと、アプリケーションと関連した有効期限などの起動しているイベントを持っている。無線装置はサンディエゴ カリフォルニアに本部を置いたクアルコム社により開発されたBREWTMプラットホームのようなプラットホームを有するかもしれず、それは実行および/または起動しているイベントパラメタを監視するのに使用される。他の監視プログラムかパラダイムが起動しているイベントのための監視に使用されてもよいことが認識されるであろう。
プラットホームが無線装置のハードウェアとアプリケーションおよびアプリケーションに関連づけられる他のデータとの間を連結するように使用されるかもしれない。一実施例では、プラットホームは起動しているイベントパラメタを監視して、パラメタに基づいて起動しているイベント処理を開始する。例えば、起動しているイベントパラメタが有効期限であるならば、プラットホームは有効期限パラメタに対してシステムにおける日付をチェックし、アプリケーションが期限切れしたかどうか決定する。アプリケーションが期限切れしたならば、プラットホームはここに説明される処理を始める。
図4は本発明の模範的実施例における無線装置の起動しているイベントを処理することと関連づけられるハイレベルなステップを表現するフローチャートである。方法はアプリケーション(または他の情報)、起動しているイベントパラメタ、および特別なデータをダウンロードすることで始まる(ステップ700)。上述されたように、それと関連した起動しているイベントパラメタを有することができるどんな情報も、まさにアプリケーションでなくても使用されるかもしれない。
処理は起動しているイベントパラメタを監視し続ける(ステップ705)。起動しているイベントパラメタは、起動しているイベントが起こったかどうか決定するために評価することができる何らかの機能、値またはデータの断片である。それは日付あるいは関係した時間であるかもしれない。それはまた、使用の数、即ち、例えば情報に関連づけられるアクセスの数であるかもしれない。その上、起動しているイベントパラメタは、それが関連づけられる基本的な情報と直接の関係を持たないかもしれない。例えば、別のアプリケーションが実行するとき、およびそれが異なったアプリケーションの終了を開始するとき、起動しているイベントが評価することになっているかもしれない。
起動しているイベントパラメタの評価が、起動しているイベントが処理されたであろう(ステップ710)ことを示すとき、“イエス”ブランチが続き、アプリケーションと関連したユニフォームリソースロケータ(URL)のような特別なデータが処理される(ステップ715)。特別なデータはスクリプト、指示、指示へのポインタ、または処理されるかもしれないいくつかのデータを含むかもしれない。一実施例では、URLは局所的に、即ち、無線装置の中および/または遠隔に、一部または全部に無線装置の外で他のシステムを含んでいる、いずれかいくつかの機能を処理するように無線装置に指示するスクリプトを含む。
特別なデータが処理された後に、起動しているイベントは処理される(ステップ720)。この様に、起動しているイベントと関連する付加的な処理は起動しているイベント処理を変更する必要なくアプリケーションと関連づけられるかもしれない。起動しているイベントが起こるとき、特別なデータは起動しているイベントに加えて処理される。
図5は本発明の模範的実施例において、アプリケーション満了の起動しているイベントと関連する処理および満了の起動のもとでURLを処理することを表すフローチャートである。方法は期限満了などのアプリケーションと関連する起動しているイベントが起こったという指示を受ける(ステップ800)。満了を処理する前に、またアプリケーションと関連するURLなどの特別なデータは、待ち行列に置かれる(ステップ805)。特別なデータが遠隔タスクにかかわるかもしれないので、それを待ち行列に置く1つの利点は、特別なデータが、遠隔システムに指示またはデータを送るようなタスクを実行するためにネットワークに接続を必要とするなら、特別なデータの処理は、カバー範囲をもたない(即ち、ネットワークに接続されない)特別なデータを処理している無線装置の損失にならないであろうということにある。したがって、無線装置がカバー範囲を持つとき、それは待ち行列から特別なデータを検索して、特別なデータを処理することができる。
URLは待ち行列から検索され、無線装置のレジストリイは、それが対応する操作者を有するかどうかを見るためにチェックされる(ステップ810)。URLが特定の操作者を持つように決定され、異なったMIME型を有するような特定の方法で処理されることができるような方法でフォーマットされるかもしれないことを、技術に熟練した者は認識するであろう。操作者が見つけられるならば(ステップ815)、それは始められる(ステップ820)。そして、操作者はURLを解析する(ステップ825)。URL、操作者または他の処理の解析の結果に基づいて、ローカル動作を処理し(ステップ830)、および/または遠隔動作を処理する(ステップ835)。URLを解析することと関連した処理に続いて、処理はステップ840に進み、そこではアプリケーションの満了などのアプリケーションと関連した起動しているイベントが処理される(ステップ840)。特別なデータがアプリケーションに関連づけられないならば、上記の処理は起動しているイベントを処理し続けることに注意を要す。この様に、これらの実施例を実行するシステムは、1つの起動しているイベント処理を案出し、起動しているイベントが特別なデータを使用して特定の情報のために起こるときに行われる動作を変更することができる。
