Abstract
Description
本願は、骨ピンおよび骨ワイヤに関し、より詳細には、治癒期間の間、骨断片をアンカー骨へと付着させるための骨ピンおよび骨ワイヤに関する。
本発明は、治癒期間、骨断片をアンカー骨へと接続するための骨断片ワイヤである。この骨断片ワイヤは、骨内に前進される骨貫通セクションを有する。この骨断片ワイヤは、骨の治癒の間、骨の実質的に外側に広がる骨外部セクションを有する。この骨貫通セクションは、アンカー骨とねじ切り係合する遠位骨アンカーセクションと、骨断片を通って広がるが骨断片と積極的には係合しない断片セクションとを備える。従って、この断片セクションは、骨断片を通って骨アンカーセクションを前進することによって作製された大きめの穴(overbore)内に適合する。骨外部セクションの遠位端部における圧縮係合は、圧縮肩部を提供する。この肩部は、骨断片の外部表面と実質的に接触させ、制御された圧縮力で、骨断片をアンカー骨に向かって付勢する。
本発明の好ましい断片骨ワイヤ10は、中間断片セクション14の遠位に位置するアンカーセクション12を包含する。圧縮セクション16には、中間断片セクション14が近位に提供され、そして回転セクション18には、圧縮セクション16が近位に提供される。骨ワイヤ10を用いた外科手術方法では、アンカーセクション12および断片セクション14は、骨20を貫通し、一方、圧縮セクション16および回転セクション18は、骨20の外部において外側にあり続ける。骨貫通セクション22(すなわち、アンカーセクション12および断片セクション14)は、合わせた長さが、骨外部セクション24(すなわち、圧縮セクション16および回転セクション18)の合わせた長さよりも短い。
Claims (17)
- 治癒期間の間、骨断片をアンカー骨へと接続し、そして該治癒期間の間、骨を伸長させるための骨断片ワイヤであって、該骨断片ワイヤは、細長いワイヤ(10)を備え、該細長いワイヤ(10)は、ワイヤ軸の周囲の骨外部セクション(24)から遠位に延びる骨貫通セクション(22)を有し、該骨貫通セクション(22)は、該骨外部セクション(24)よりも短く、該骨貫通セクション(22)は、非係合断片セクション(14)と、該非係合断片セクション(14)に対して遠位に位置する骨アンカーセクション(12)とを備え、該非係合断片セクション(14)は、0.1インチ(2.54mm)以下のシャフト直径を有するシャフト(26)を有し、該骨断片ワイヤは、該骨アンカーセクション(12)が、該アンカー骨と係合するためのねじ(34)を有し、該ねじ(34)の外径が該非係合断片セクション(14)のシャフト直径よりも大きいことによって特徴付けられ;そして圧縮係合部(36)が該骨外部セクション(24)の遠位端部に設けられ、該圧縮係合部(36)が、該骨断片の外部表面との実質的接触のために、該ワイヤ軸に対して実質的角度で延びる肩部(38)を提供することによって特徴付けられる、骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記骨外部セクション(24)が、前記骨アンカーセクション(12)の前記ねじ(34)よりも浅いピッチのねじ(44)を有することによって特徴付けられ、そして前記圧縮係合部(36)が、該骨外部セクション(24)の該ねじ(44)によって回転可能に支持されるナット(40)によって提供されることによって特徴付けられる、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記骨外部セクション(24)が、外部ねじ(44)を有することによって特徴付けられ、該外部ねじが、前記圧縮係合部(36)における内部ねじと嵌合し、該圧縮係合部(36)における該内部ねじの内径が、前記非係合断片セクション(14)よりも小さく、その結果、該圧縮係合部(36)における該内部ねじが、前記非係合断片セクション(14)へと前進することができないことによって特徴付けられる、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記骨外部セクション(24)が、前記骨アンカーセクション(12)のねじ(34)とは異なるねじ断面のねじ(44)を有することによって特徴付けられ、そして前記圧縮係合部(36)が、該骨外部セクション(24)の該ねじ(44)において回転可能に支持されるナット(40)によって提供されることによって特徴付けられる、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 複数の骨断片ワイヤのキット中に提供され、各骨断片ワイヤが、異なる長さの非係合断片セクション(14)を有する、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記圧縮係合部(36)が、治癒期間後に組織を通して該圧縮係合部(36)を除去するのを補助する傾斜した断面の近位側を有することによって特徴付けられ、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記圧縮係合部(36)の近位側の傾きが、前記ワイヤ(10)の前記骨外部セクション(24)の外径に隣接した緩い傾きから、該緩い傾きに対して遠位のより急な傾きへと増大し、それにより、ほぼ涙形の断面形状の圧縮係合部(36)を提供することによって特徴付けられる、請求項6に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記圧縮係合部(36)が、前記ワイヤ(10)に対して永続的に固定されていることによって特徴付けられる、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記非係合断片セクション(14)の前記シャフト(26)が、実質的に平滑でかつ円筒形であることによって特徴付けられる、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記骨アンカーセクション(12)における前記ねじ(34)が、挿入については遠位に自己タッピングし、除去については近位に自己タッピングすることによって特徴付けられる、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記圧縮係合部(36)が、涙形の断面形状を有することによって特徴付けられ、前記圧縮係合部(36)が、前記ワイヤ(10)に対して永続的に固定されていることによって特徴付けられ、前記非係合断片セクション(14)の前記シャフト(26)が、実質的に平滑でかつ円筒形であることによって特徴付けられ、そして前記骨アンカーセクション(12)における前記ねじ(34)が、挿入については遠位に自己タッピングし、そして除去については近位に自己タッピングすることによって特徴付けられる、請求項1に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。

- 前記非係合断片セクション(14)の前記シャフト(26)が、平滑でかつ円筒形であることによって特徴付けられる、請求項12に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
- 前記骨アンカーセクション(12)における前記ねじ(34)が、挿入については遠位に自己タッピングし、そして除去については近位に自己タッピングすることによって特徴付けられる、請求項12に記載の骨断片ワイヤ。
