Abstract
Description
The present invention can be used in an image reading and recording apparatus such as a facsimile, a copying machine, and a scanner printer having a reading unit that reads an image of a document and a recording unit that prints an image on a sheet material.
In recent years, image reading and recording apparatuses represented by facsimiles, copying machines, and printers with scanners have been widely used in ordinary homes and small offices such as SOHO. However, these ordinary households and SOHOs cannot easily secure a wide space for these devices, and it is desired to reduce the size of the apparatus from the viewpoint of space saving. Regarding the reading unit, the size of the reading unit is reduced by using a contact image sensor or the like. On the other hand, printers of various recording methods such as laser beam printers, ink jet printers, thermal transfer printers, etc. are used for the recording unit. Among them, the ink jet method that is easy to downsize and can be configured at low cost and easily supports color printing. The thermal transfer method is widely used. These ink jet and thermal transfer printers generally include a carriage unit that reciprocates in a direction orthogonal to the recording paper conveyance direction. In the ink jet system, a printer head that discharges ink to the carriage unit is configured to be detachable, and an ink tank that stores ink is detachably configured to the printer head. As a result, the ink tank can be replaced with a new ink tank as the ink is consumed. There are also models in which two types of printer heads for color printing and monochrome printing are prepared, and the printer head is replaced as necessary. In addition, there is a type of product in which the ink tank and the printer head are integrated, and the printer head is replaced when the ink is used up. On the other hand, in the thermal transfer system, a head portion for transferring ink applied to an ink ribbon onto a recording sheet while melting the ink by heat is provided on the carriage portion, and a cartridge containing the ink ribbon is configured to be detachable from the carriage portion. What is common to these printers is that consumable parts can be attached to and detached from the carriage unit that reciprocates, so that the running cost of the printer can be reduced. It is.
A conventional configuration of an image reading and recording apparatus using the above-described printer as a recording unit will be described. 9 and 10 are a perspective view and a sectional view, respectively, for explaining a conventional apparatus configuration. In this conventional example, a facsimile will be described as an example, but the same applies to other devices such as a copying machine and a scanner printer.
In the apparatus configuration described above, when the operator tries to replace the
In addition, when the replacement work is performed, the
Furthermore, since the
As described above, with the replacement of the ink tank, the operation of the display unit and buttons of the operation panel, or the reading unit, which should be irrelevant to the ink tank replacement work, is restricted, and the read image quality is further deteriorated. There was an inconvenient point to induce.
The above-mentioned problem is a problem that occurs even in printers other than ink jet printers.
In view of the above disadvantages, the present invention improves the operability of exchanging consumable parts such as an ink tank, a printer head, or an ink ribbon cartridge, and has an excellent operability that can be replaced without restricting other functions. Proposing an apparatus configuration is also a problem.
In order to solve the above-described problems, an ink storage unit that stores ink and a printer head that prints ink on recording paper are configured, and the ink storage unit is configured to be detachable from the printer head. A recording unit that reciprocates in a direction perpendicular to the conveyance direction, a reading unit that optically reads image information of a document, a recording sheet feeding unit that feeds the recording sheet to the recording unit, and a recording sheet from the recording unit to the recording sheet An image reading and recording apparatus having a recording paper discharge unit that discharges a document, a document feeding unit that feeds a document to the reading unit, and a document discharge unit that discharges the document from the reading unit. The document transport path from the printing section through the document reading section to the document discharge section is arranged above the recording sheet transport path from the recording sheet feed section to the recording section and then to the recording sheet discharge section. And the ink in the movement area of the printer head Characterized in that a lid member for replacement of comparison. As a result, the document transport path and the ink storage unit replacement position do not interfere with each other, and the replacement operation can be performed even while the document is being read, thereby improving the operability of the apparatus.
Further, the printer head is configured to be detachable from the recording unit, and at least one of the ink storage unit and the printer head or both are configured to be replaceable. This improves the workability of exchanging the dedicated printer head or ink storage unit even in a recording unit with color / monochrome settings.
The recording unit includes a mechanism unit for maintaining the printer head at a standby position where the printer head stands by, and the lid member is provided on the side opposite to the standby position. As a result, the replacement position and the maintenance unit can be moved away from each other, and the operator cannot touch the maintenance mechanism unit of the recording unit accidentally during the replacement operation, resulting in deterioration of the recording image quality. It is possible to improve the workability of replacement without incurring a burden such as paying.
Further, the operation unit is provided above the document conveyance path. This makes it possible to perform operations using the operation unit during replacement work of the ink storage unit, for example, key input and reading display information on the display unit, and the operability of the apparatus is improved.
Moreover, it is the area | region which mounts a handset, Comprising: The part except the support part of the handset is comprised as a part of lid member, It is characterized by the above-mentioned. As a result, the handset can be accessed even while the ink storage unit is being replaced, without damaging the operability of the device, and by using the space of the device by overlapping the handset placement area with the replacement position. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the size of the apparatus. Or it is the same also by the characteristic that the mounting part which mounts a handset in the lid member is provided.
The lid member is configured to be slidable with respect to the apparatus main body. Thereby, even if the handset placement portion is provided on the lid member, the handset can be configured not to drop off from the placement portion when the lid member is opened and closed, and the workability at the time of replacement is not impaired.
Alternatively, the lid member is pivotally supported with respect to the apparatus main body and is configured to be rotatable. Thereby, the loss of the lid member can be prevented during the replacement work.
As described above, an original conveyance path is provided above the recording paper conveyance path, and an open / close cover member for exchanging consumable parts such as an ink cartridge is provided in the carriage movement area outside the original width area of the original conveyance path. Thus, the ink cartridge or the like can be replaced without opening the operation panel, and the workability of the replacement work can be improved. In addition, there are no restrictions on functions other than the replacement work, such as reading the document while replacing the ink cartridge.
In addition, since the operation panel is arranged above the document transport path, when replacing the ink cartridge, etc., the user can operate buttons while looking at the display section of the operation panel during the replacement work (for example, inputting a mail document). The operability is improved, for example, by replacing the ink cartridge while performing it. In addition, it is possible to improve the user interface by displaying the replacement work guidance on the display unit.
In addition, the carriage standby position is placed on the opposite side of the ink replacement position so that the operator cannot easily touch it, preventing the operator from inadvertently touching the maintenance section and degrading the recorded image quality. The image quality can be stabilized.
Also, the handset is provided above the ink cartridge replacement position, and the space for the apparatus is set by overlapping the area for placing the handset and the ink cartridge replacement position, or the document reading drive system and the ink cartridge replacement position in the width direction of the apparatus. Utilization efficiency can be increased and the apparatus can be reduced in size.
(First embodiment)
An embodiment in which the present invention is applied to a facsimile machine will be described below. 1 and 2 are a perspective view and a sectional view, respectively, for explaining this embodiment. Reference numeral 1 denotes a facsimile apparatus main body.
First, the recording operation will be described. An arrow S indicates the conveyance direction of the recording paper.
When a signal to start recording is sent, a recording paper conveyance motor (not shown) rotates to release the holding state of the
Next, the reading operation will be described. An arrow G indicates a document transport path. 14 is an opening for setting a document, and 15 is a document slider for regulating the width direction of the set document. A
51 is a feeding roller, 52 is a paper feeding roller facing the feeding
When the document is set in the
Next, replacement work of consumable parts of the
When replacing the

Next, the positional relationship between the document and recording paper passing area, the recording unit, and the reading unit will be described in detail. FIG. 5 is a perspective view in which main portions of the recording unit and the reading unit are extracted, and FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram illustrating the positional relationship in the width direction. An
FIG. 7 is a diagram for explaining an embodiment in which the cover is slid with respect to the apparatus to perform the replacement work. About the part which attached | subjected the same number, description is abbreviate | omitted as having the same function and a function.
In the embodiment described above, both the document conveyance path and the recording paper conveyance path are substantially straight paths from the rear to the front of the apparatus, but the same effect can be obtained even if either one or both are U-turn path shapes.
In addition, an ink jet printer is used for the recording unit, but other methods such as a thermal transfer method may be used. If the system has a printer head unit that reciprocates in a direction perpendicular to the recording paper conveyance path, the same exchange workability effect can be obtained. Can be obtained.
