Abstract
【解決手段】 発光表示パネル10には、発光表示用画素10aがマトリクス状に多数配列されており、表示パネル上のEL素子E1 の順方向電圧に相当する電圧を取り出すことができるモニタ素子Exが具備されている。発光表示パネル10における消費電流を検出する消費電流検出部14からの信号により、駆動率制御部15はモニタ素子Exに直列接続されたトランジスタTr3をオン・オフ制御し、定電流回路からの電流を制御する。これにより、モニタ素子Exと表示パネルに配列されたEL素子E1 との経時変化の進行度合いを、ほぼ一致させるように制御することができ、各画素10aにおける発光駆動用トランジスタTr2において発生する電力損失を極力抑えることが可能となる。

Claims (10)
- 多数の自発光素子を表示画素としてマトリクス状に配列してなる発光表示パネルの駆動装置であって、
前記発光表示パネルに配列された自発光素子の順方向電圧に対応する電圧値を取り出すことができるモニタ素子と、
前記モニタ素子より得られる前記順方向電圧に対応する電圧値に基づいて、前記発光表示パネルに与える駆動電圧が制御される電源部と、
前記電源部からの電源電圧により駆動される前記表示パネルにおける消費電流値を検出する消費電流検出部と、
前記消費電流検出部によって検出された消費電流値に応じて、前記モニタ素子に加える電流を制御することで、前記モニタ素子における経時変化の進行度合いを調整する駆動率制御部と、
を具備したことを特徴とする発光表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 前記駆動率制御部は、前記消費電流検出部によって検出された消費電流値に応じて能動素子のスイッチング動作を実行し、当該能動素子のスイッチング動作により電流源から前記モニタ素子に供給される電流の時間供給率を制御するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記モニタ素子、前記電源部、前記消費電流検出部、前記駆動率制御部、前記能動素子および前記電流源の組み合わせは、前記発光表示パネルに含まれる自発光素子の発光色に対応して、それぞれ独立して備えられていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載された発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記駆動率制御部は、前記消費電流検出部によって検出された消費電流値に応じて、電流源から前記モニタ素子に供給される電流の値を制御するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記モニタ素子、前記電源部、前記消費電流検出部、前記駆動率制御部および前記電流源の組み合わせは、前記発光表示パネルに含まれる自発光素子の発光色に対応して、それぞれ独立して備えられていることを特徴とする請求項4に記載された発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記消費電流検出部は、発光表示パネルに配列された自発光素子のアノード側、もしくはカソード側に直列に挿入されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項5のいずれか1項に記載された発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記電源部はPWM駆動方式のDC/DCコンバータにより構成され、前記消費電流検出部によって検出される消費電流値が、前記DC/DCコンバータにおけるスイッチング素子に加えるパルス信号のデューティ値に対応して得るよう構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項5のいずれか1項に記載された発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記電源部はPFM駆動方式もしくはPSM駆動方式のDC/DCコンバータにより構成され、前記消費電流検出部によって検出される消費電流値が、前記DC/DCコンバータにおけるスイッチング素子に加えるパルス信号の周波数に対応して得るよう構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項5のいずれか1項に記載された発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記モニタ素子は、前記発光表示パネルに配列された自発光素子と同一仕様の自発光素子で構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項8のいずれか1項に記載された発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記自発光素子は、有機物質からなる発光機能層を少なくとも一層含む有機EL素子であることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項9のいずれか1項に記載された発光表示パネルの駆動装置。
