Abstract
【解決手段】 レーザ光Lに対して吸収率の高い吸収性樹脂材1とレーザ光に対して透過率の高い透過性樹脂材2とを重ね合わせて、透過性樹脂材側からレーザ光を照射することにより、両樹脂材を溶着するレーザ溶着方法であって、レーザ光の照射によるレーザ溶着中に、両樹脂材の溶着部Mに超音波又は振動を加える。これにより、両樹脂材が溶融している溶融層を撹拌して、相溶層の厚さ及び範囲を拡大することができ、強固な接合が得られる。

Description
実際に樹脂材としてポリブチレンテレフタレート(PBT)を使用してレーザ溶着を行った場合、レーザ溶着後の強度は引っ張りで30〜50MPaが限界となり、母材強度と比較しても接合効率が低下していることが分った。
請求項1に記載の樹脂材のレーザ溶着方法は、レーザ光の照射によるレーザ溶着中に、重ね合わされた透過性樹脂材と吸収性樹脂材の溶着部に対して超音波又は振動を加えるようにしたものであり、これにより、両樹脂材の相溶を活発にし、溶着部での十分な相溶層の厚さを確保でき、両樹脂材を強固且つ安定的に溶着することが可能となる。
請求項3の該レーザ溶着方法は、重ね合わされた両樹脂材を振動発生器に取り付けられた振動板上に載置され、固定されるようにしたものである。
なお、図1(a)及び(b)において、レーザ光の走査は、レーザ光の照射側で行うことが好ましい。
以上に述べた実施例において、樹脂溶融層を攪拌する超音波振動あるいは振動は、レーザ光Lの照射によって溶融した樹脂を攪拌するようにその周波数、振幅、振動方向などを設定することができる。溶接工程においては、超音波振動あるいは振動を与え始めた後に、その超音波振動あるいは振動を与え続けながら、レーザ光Lの照射を開始して対象部位の樹脂を溶融させ始め、振動状態の下で溶融を進行させることができる。これに代えて、レーザ光Lを照射して対象部位の樹脂を溶融させた後に、超音波振動あるいは振動を与え始めることができる。レーザ光Lの照射部位の移動につれて溶融される部位が移動する場合には、振動が加えられる部位もまた移動してもよい。また、溶融した樹脂を充分に攪拌するために、樹脂が溶融状態にある間に、所定の期間にわたって振動が与られるように、レーザ光Lのエネルギ、照射時間などの溶融条件と、超音波振動あるいは振動の開始時期、停止時期などの振動条件とが調整される。溶接工程においては、振動状態の下で溶融した樹脂の再硬化を進行させ、樹脂が再硬化した後に振動を停止させることができる。これに代えて、振動状態を停止させた後に、樹脂の再硬化を進行させることもできる。さらに、振動を減衰させながら樹脂の再硬化を進行させることもできる。
レーザ光Lの透過率が高い透過性樹脂材2の種類としては、熱可塑性を有し、レーザ光Lに対して所定以上の透過率を有するものであれば特に限定されない。基本的に上記に例示した樹脂材が使用可能である。また透過性を確保できれば、着色材を混入してもよい。
なお、吸収性樹脂材1及び透過性樹脂材2には、必要に応じてガラス繊維やカーボン繊維などの補強繊維を添加してもよい。
また、本実施例の樹脂材のレーザ溶着方法によれば、樹脂材同志をレーザ光により強固に溶着させることができ、樹脂の損傷もないため、例えばインストルメントパネル、インテークマニホールド、サージタンク等の自動車部品、電池ケース等の電気・電子部品を好適に製造することができる。

- レーザ光に対して吸収率の高い吸収性樹脂材と、レーザ光に対して透過率の高い透過性樹脂材とを重ね合わせて、前記透過性樹脂材越しにレーザ光を照射することにより、両樹脂材を溶着する樹脂材のレーザ溶着方法において、
レーザ光の照射によるレーザ溶着中に、前記両樹脂材の溶着部に対して超音波又は振動を加えることを特徴とする樹脂材のレーザ溶着方法。 - 重ね合わされた前記両樹脂材に加圧力を加える押え治具が、超音波振動子を兼用していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の樹脂材のレーザ溶着方法。
- 重ね合わされた前記両樹脂材が、振動発生器に取り付けられた振動板上に載置され、固定されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の樹脂材のレーザ溶着方法。
