Description
The present invention includes a liquid ejecting head that ejects liquid onto a material to be ejected, a liquid container that is hermetically filled with liquid, a pressure chamber, a valve body that compresses and pressurizes air in the pressure chamber, and an opening / closing valve for the pressure chamber. When the valve body is moved in the compression direction, the air in the pressure chamber is compressed and pressurized with the on-off valve closed, and by moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction, the on-off valve is opened and the air pressure is opened. An air compressor for reducing the air in the chamber to atmospheric pressure and a pressure detection means for detecting the pressure in the air pressure chamber are provided in the liquid container with a supply pressure corresponding to the pressure of the air pressure compressed and pressurized by the air compressor. In the liquid ejecting apparatus having a configuration in which the filled liquid is pumped to the liquid ejecting head, the driving force source of the valve body is controlled based on the pressure detected by the pressure detecting means, and the liquid ejecting head is moved from the liquid container. Liquid to control liquid supply pressure to Pressure control device, and a liquid ejecting apparatus having the liquid pressure control device.
Here, the liquid ejecting apparatus is not limited to an ink jet recording apparatus that performs recording on a recording material by ejecting ink from the recording head onto a recording material such as recording paper, a copying machine, and a facsimile. And a device for ejecting a liquid corresponding to a specific application instead of the ink from a liquid ejecting head corresponding to the above-described recording head to an ejecting material corresponding to the recording material and attaching the liquid to the ejecting material. Used in meaning. In addition to the recording head described above, the liquid ejecting head includes a color material ejecting head used for manufacturing a color filter such as a liquid crystal display, an electrode material used for forming an electrode such as an organic EL display and a surface emitting display (FED) ( Examples thereof include a conductive paste) ejection head, a bio-organic matter ejection head used for biochip manufacturing, and a sample ejection head that ejects a sample as a precision pipette.
A liquid ejecting apparatus typified by an ink jet recording apparatus is equipped with a liquid ejecting head that ejects liquid onto an ejected material, and the liquid ejecting head has a trace amount on the head surface facing the ejected material. A large number of liquid ejection nozzles that eject liquid droplets are arranged. In a liquid ejecting head, for example, a piezoelectric element is disposed in a pressure chamber provided in a nozzle opening of a liquid ejecting nozzle. When an electric signal is applied to the piezoelectric element, the piezoelectric element expands and contracts, and the liquid pressure in the pressure chamber is increased. It changes so that a small amount of liquid is ejected from the nozzle opening. Further, in general, liquid is supplied from the liquid storage unit in which each liquid ejecting nozzle is in fluid communication to each liquid ejecting nozzle by a negative pressure generated by expansion and contraction of a fluid pressure chamber provided in the nozzle opening of each liquid ejecting nozzle. Aspirated and supplied. However, for example, the recording head (liquid ejecting head) and the ink cartridge (liquid storage unit) are arranged apart from each other as in a large ink jet recording apparatus, and the recording head and the ink cartridge are hollow. In a liquid ejecting apparatus that is in fluid communication via a tube or the like, a necessary and sufficient amount of ink (liquid) is sucked and supplied from an ink cartridge only by the negative pressure generated at each liquid ejecting nozzle during liquid ejecting. It may not be possible. Therefore, in such an ink jet recording apparatus, for example, a mechanical pressure unit such as a leaf spring is provided in the ink cartridge, and the ink in the ink cartridge is pressurized and sent toward the recording head by the spring force of the leaf spring. There are known ones that perform the pressure-feeding of ink using the siphon phenomenon caused by atmospheric pressure (for example, see Patent Document 1).
However, in a liquid ejecting apparatus that pressurizes and delivers liquid from a liquid storage unit to a liquid ejecting head using a mechanical pressurizing means such as a leaf spring or a siphon phenomenon caused by atmospheric pressure, the supply pressure of the liquid is controlled. I can't. Accordingly, the liquid supply path to the liquid jet head such as the liquid jet head and the hollow tube is always constant regardless of the liquid jet execution state from the liquid jet head and the power ON / OFF state of the liquid jet device. The load due to the above ink supply pressure remains on for a long time. For this reason, there is a risk that deterioration over time of the liquid supply path to the liquid ejecting head such as the liquid ejecting head and the hollow tube progresses rapidly and the life is shortened. Further, for example, in a liquid ejecting apparatus in which the liquid storage unit is configured to be detachable and replaceable as an ink cartridge as in a general ink jet recording apparatus, the ink cartridge is attached and detached by the ink supply pressure. Ink may be ejected from the ink supply path on the ink jet recording apparatus side.
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is that in a liquid ejecting apparatus such as an ink jet recording apparatus, a liquid ejecting head and a liquid by an ink supply pressure from a liquid storage unit to the liquid ejecting head are disclosed. An object of the present invention is to reduce the life of the liquid supply path from the storage unit to the liquid ejecting head and the risk of liquid leakage when the liquid storage unit is attached or detached.
To achieve the above object, according to a first aspect of the present invention, a liquid ejecting head that ejects liquid onto a material to be ejected, a liquid container in which the liquid is hermetically filled, a pressure chamber, and air in the pressure chamber are compressed. The liquid container has a valve body to be pressurized and an opening / closing valve for the atmospheric pressure chamber, and the air in the atmospheric pressure chamber is compressed and pressurized with the opening / closing valve closed by moving the valve body in the compression direction. The air valve is opened by moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction, and the air pressure in the air pressure chamber is reduced to the atmospheric pressure by detecting the pressure in the air pressure chamber. A liquid having a configuration in which the liquid filled in the liquid container is pumped to the liquid ejecting head with a supply pressure corresponding to the pressure of the air pressure compressed and pressurized by the air compressor. In the injection device, the pressure A liquid pressure control device that controls a driving force source of the valve body based on a pressure detected by a discharge means to increase or decrease a supply pressure of the liquid from the liquid container to the liquid ejecting head; While the power of the liquid ejecting apparatus is ON, pressurize and maintain the liquid supply pressure to a predetermined pressure, and when the power of the liquid ejecting apparatus is OFF, reduce the liquid supply pressure to atmospheric pressure. This is a liquid pressure control device.
Thus, the air compressor is provided with the air compressor, the driving force source for moving the valve body of the air compressor, and the pressure detecting means for detecting the pressure of the air pressure chamber of the air compressor. Thus, the liquid filled in the liquid container is pumped to the liquid ejecting head with a supply pressure corresponding to the pressure of the compressed and pressurized air pressure. In the air compressor, the air in the air pressure chamber is compressed and pressurized while the on-off valve is closed by moving the valve body in the compression direction, and the on-off valve is opened by moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction. Since the air in the air pressure chamber is reduced to atmospheric pressure by controlling the valve, the driving force source of the valve body is controlled based on the pressure detector of the pressure detecting means to control the moving position of the valve body. As a result, the liquid supply pressure from the liquid container to the liquid ejecting head can be controlled to increase or decrease. While the power of the liquid ejecting apparatus is ON, the liquid supply pressure is maintained at a predetermined pressure, and when the power of the liquid ejecting apparatus is OFF, the liquid supply pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure. The liquid supply pressure applied to the liquid ejecting head when the apparatus is turned off can be reduced to atmospheric pressure. The air compressor has a configuration in which the on-off valve is opened by moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction, and the air in the pressure chamber is reduced to atmospheric pressure. Sometimes, the liquid supply pressure applied to the liquid ejecting head can be reduced to atmospheric pressure by moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction.
Thus, according to the liquid pressure control device shown in the first aspect of the present invention, the liquid supply pressure applied to the liquid ejecting head when the power of the liquid ejecting apparatus is turned off can be reduced to the atmospheric pressure. In a liquid ejecting apparatus such as an apparatus, the life of the liquid ejecting head and the liquid supply path from the liquid storing section to the liquid ejecting head due to the ink supply pressure from the liquid storing section to the liquid ejecting head, and the liquid when the liquid storing section is attached or detached The effect that the risk of leakage can be reduced is obtained.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a liquid ejecting head that ejects liquid onto a material to be ejected, a liquid container that is hermetically filled with the liquid, a pressure chamber, a valve body that compresses and pressurizes air in the pressure chamber, and the An air pressure chamber opening / closing valve, and by moving the valve body in the compression direction, the air in the air pressure chamber is compressed and pressurized and sent to the liquid container with the opening / closing valve closed; An air compressor in which the on-off valve is opened by moving the valve in a direction opposite to the compression direction so that the air in the atmospheric pressure chamber is decompressed to atmospheric pressure, and pressure detecting means for detecting the pressure in the atmospheric pressure chamber. In the liquid ejecting apparatus having the configuration in which the liquid filled in the liquid container is pumped to the liquid ejecting head with a supply pressure corresponding to the pressure of the air pressure compressed and pressurized by the air compressor, the pressure detection Pressure detected by means A liquid pressure control device for controlling the driving force source of the valve body based on the above to increase or decrease the supply pressure of the liquid from the liquid container to the liquid jet head, wherein the operation mode of the liquid jet device is normally set While in the mode, pressurize and maintain the supply pressure of the liquid to a predetermined pressure, and reduce the supply pressure of the liquid to atmospheric pressure when the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus shifts to the power saving mode.
While the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus is the normal mode, the liquid supply pressure is pressurized and maintained up to a predetermined pressure, and the liquid supply pressure is increased when the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus shifts to the power saving mode. Therefore, the liquid supply pressure applied to the liquid ejecting head at the time when the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus shifts to the power saving mode can be depressurized to the atmospheric pressure. The air compressor has a configuration in which the on-off valve is opened by moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction and the air in the air pressure chamber is reduced to atmospheric pressure. By moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction at the time when shifts to the power saving mode, the liquid supply pressure applied to the liquid ejecting head can be reduced to atmospheric pressure. The power saving mode is a hot standby mode in which power consumption is saved in order to reduce power consumption of the liquid ejecting apparatus. For example, in an ink jet recording apparatus, a certain time ( In general, for example, the mode is shifted to the power saving mode when about 3 minutes have elapsed.
Thus, according to the liquid pressure control device shown in the second aspect of the present invention, the liquid supply pressure applied to the liquid ejecting head is reduced to atmospheric pressure when the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus shifts to the power saving mode. Therefore, in a liquid ejecting apparatus such as an ink jet recording apparatus, the life of the liquid ejecting head due to the ink supply pressure from the liquid storing unit to the liquid ejecting head and the liquid supply path from the liquid storing unit to the liquid ejecting head, And the effect that the possibility of the liquid leak at the time of liquid storage part attachment or detachment can be reduced is acquired.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, there is provided a liquid ejecting head that ejects liquid onto a material to be ejected, a liquid container that is hermetically filled with the liquid, a pressure chamber, a valve body that compresses and pressurizes air in the pressure chamber, and the An air pressure chamber opening / closing valve, and by moving the valve body in the compression direction, the air in the air pressure chamber is compressed and pressurized and sent to the liquid container with the opening / closing valve closed; An air compressor in which the on-off valve is opened by moving the valve in a direction opposite to the compression direction so that the air in the atmospheric pressure chamber is decompressed to atmospheric pressure, and pressure detecting means for detecting the pressure in the atmospheric pressure chamber. In the liquid ejecting apparatus having the configuration in which the liquid filled in the liquid container is pumped to the liquid ejecting head with a supply pressure corresponding to the pressure of the air pressure compressed and pressurized by the air compressor, the pressure detection Pressure detected by means A liquid pressure control device that controls a driving force source of the valve body to increase or decrease a supply pressure of the liquid from the liquid container to the liquid jet head, the liquid jet device including an open / close cover A liquid container mounting portion that is detachable only when the liquid container is open, and that the liquid in the liquid container can be supplied to the liquid ejecting head when the liquid container is mounted; An open / close cover state detecting means for detecting an open / close state, in a state where the open / close cover is closed, pressurize and maintain the supply pressure of the liquid to a predetermined pressure, and in a state where the open / close cover is open, The liquid pressure control apparatus is characterized in that the supply pressure of the liquid is reduced to atmospheric pressure.
When the open / close cover of the liquid container mounting portion is closed, the liquid supply pressure is maintained at a predetermined pressure, and when the open / close cover of the liquid container mounting portion is open, the liquid supply pressure is maintained. Since the pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure, the liquid supply pressure from the liquid container can be reduced to atmospheric pressure when the liquid container is attached or detached. The air compressor is configured such that the on-off valve is opened by moving the valve body in the direction opposite to the compression direction, and the air in the air pressure chamber is reduced to atmospheric pressure. By moving the body in the direction opposite to the compression direction, the liquid supply pressure from the liquid container can be reduced to atmospheric pressure.
Thereby, according to the liquid pressure control apparatus shown in the third aspect of the present invention, the liquid supply pressure from the liquid container can be reduced to the atmospheric pressure when the liquid container is attached or detached. In the liquid ejecting apparatus, there is an effect that the risk of liquid leakage when the liquid storage unit is attached / detached can be reduced.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect described above, while the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus is the normal mode, the supply pressure of the liquid is increased to a predetermined pressure and maintained, and the liquid The liquid pressure control device is characterized in that the supply pressure of the liquid is reduced to atmospheric pressure when the operation mode of the ejection device shifts to the power saving mode.
As described above, while the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus is the normal mode, the supply pressure of the liquid is pressurized and maintained to a predetermined pressure, and when the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus shifts to the power saving mode, the liquid supply pressure is maintained. Since the supply pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure, the liquid supply pressure applied to the liquid ejecting head when the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus shifts to the power saving mode can be reduced to atmospheric pressure.
Thus, according to the liquid pressure control device shown in the fourth aspect of the present invention, in addition to the first aspect described above, the liquid ejecting head is changed to the liquid ejecting head when the operation mode of the liquid ejecting apparatus shifts to the power saving mode. Since the liquid supply pressure applied can be reduced to atmospheric pressure, in a liquid ejecting apparatus such as an ink jet recording apparatus, the liquid ejecting head by the ink supply pressure from the liquid storage unit to the liquid ejecting head and the liquid ejecting head from the liquid storage unit The effect of being able to reduce the lifetime of the liquid supply path to the liquid and the risk of liquid leakage when the liquid storage part is attached or detached can be further enhanced.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the fourth aspect described above, the liquid ejecting apparatus is configured such that the liquid container can be attached and detached only when the opening / closing cover is opened, and the liquid container is attached with the liquid container attached. A liquid container mounting portion in which the liquid inside can be supplied to the liquid ejecting head, and an open / close cover state detection means for detecting the open / close state of the open / close cover, and the open / close cover is closed, The liquid pressure control apparatus is characterized in that the supply pressure of the liquid is increased to a predetermined pressure and maintained, and the supply pressure of the liquid is reduced to atmospheric pressure when the opening / closing cover is open.
As described above, when the open / close cover of the liquid container mounting portion is closed, the liquid supply pressure is maintained at a predetermined pressure, and when the open / close cover of the liquid container mounting portion is open, the liquid supply is maintained.
Thereby, according to the liquid pressure control apparatus shown in the fifth aspect of the present invention, in addition to the fourth aspect described above, the liquid supply pressure from the liquid container is reduced to atmospheric pressure when the liquid container is attached or detached. Therefore, in a liquid ejecting apparatus such as an ink jet recording apparatus, it is possible to further enhance the effect of reducing the risk of liquid leakage when the liquid storage unit is attached or detached.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect or the second aspect described above, the liquid ejecting apparatus is configured such that the liquid container can be attached and detached only when the opening / closing cover is opened, and the liquid container is mounted. A liquid container mounting portion in which the liquid in the liquid container can be supplied to the liquid ejecting head, and an open / close cover state detecting means for detecting the open / close state of the open / close cover, and the open / close cover is closed The liquid pressure is maintained by pressurizing and maintaining the liquid supply pressure to a predetermined pressure, and the liquid supply pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure when the open / close cover is open. It is a control device.
As described above, when the open / close cover of the liquid container mounting portion is closed, the liquid supply pressure is maintained at a predetermined pressure, and when the open / close cover of the liquid container mounting portion is open, the liquid supply is maintained.
Thus, according to the liquid pressure control device shown in the sixth aspect of the present invention, in addition to the first aspect or the second aspect described above, the liquid supply pressure from the liquid container is increased when the liquid container is attached or detached. Since the pressure can be reduced to atmospheric pressure, in the liquid ejecting apparatus such as an ink jet recording apparatus, the effect of being able to reduce the risk of liquid leakage when the liquid storage unit is attached or detached can be further enhanced.

Next, a bellows pump unit as an “air compressor” that sends air pressure to the
FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view schematically showing an bellows pump unit and an ink pressurization system using the bellows pump unit.
The bellows pump
The bellows pump

Note that the fatal error (FATAL ERROR) in this embodiment means an error that cannot be restored by power ON / OFF in the ink

FIG. 13 is a flowchart showing an “abnormality detection process control procedure” for air pressure in the bellows pump
This procedure is performed when the pressurizing / depressurizing
First, when rotating the pressure increasing / decreasing
On the other hand, when the rotation direction of the pressure increasing / decreasing
The above-described abnormality detection time as the “predetermined count value” is, for example, a count value corresponding to an operation time of the pressure increasing / decreasing
FIG. 14 is a flowchart showing a first embodiment of the “pressure maintenance control procedure” of air pressure in the bellows pump
The said procedure is a procedure started in the initial pressurization control procedure (FIG. 10) mentioned above.
First, it is determined whether there is a decompression control condition (step S41). Here, the decompression control condition is that when the
If there is a decompression control condition (Yes in step S41), the decompression process control procedure (FIG. 11) is executed (step S50), and it is determined whether or not an error has occurred in the decompression process control procedure (step S50). (Step S51). If an error has occurred (Yes in step S51), the procedure is terminated as it is as a fatal error (FATAL ERROR). On the other hand, if an error has not occurred (No in step S51), the standby state (Wait) is kept as it is until the pressure reduction control condition is not satisfied (step S52), and the pressure reduction control condition is not satisfied. When the state is reached, the initial pressurization control procedure is activated (step S49), and the procedure is terminated. Here, the state where the decompression control condition is not satisfied is a state where the opening /
Thus, when the
If there is no decompression control condition in step S41 (No in step S41), it is then determined whether the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (step S42). If the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is not insufficient (No in step S42), the process returns to step S41, and if the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (Yes in step S42), the pressurizing process described above. By the control procedure (FIG. 12), the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is increased to a predetermined pressure (step S43). After the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is increased to a predetermined pressure, it is determined whether or not the pressurization limit position sensor is in an ON state (step S44). If the pressurization
On the other hand, when the pressurization
As described above, the pressurization limit position of the
FIG. 15 is a flowchart showing a second embodiment of the “pressure maintenance control procedure” for air pressure in the bellows pump
This procedure is a procedure that is activated in the above-described initial pressurization control procedure (FIG. 10), and is a procedure that is repeatedly executed at a predetermined cycle after activation.
First, it is determined whether or not the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (step S61). If the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is not insufficient (No in step S61), the procedure is terminated as it is. On the other hand, if the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (Yes in step S61), it is then determined whether or not the initial
On the other hand, if no sensor error has occurred (No in step S67), it is determined whether the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (step S68). When the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (Yes in Step S68), the process returns to Step 66, and the forward drive of the pressure-increasing / depressurizing
That is, the fact that the pressure of the bellows pump 21 does not increase despite the
FIG. 16 is a flowchart showing a third embodiment of the “pressure maintenance control procedure” of air pressure in the bellows pump
This procedure is a procedure that is activated in the above-described initial pressurization control procedure (FIG. 10), and is a procedure that is repeatedly executed at a predetermined cycle after activation.
First, it is determined whether or not the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (step S71). If the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is not insufficient (No in step S71), the procedure is terminated as it is. On the other hand, if the air pressure of the bellows pump 21 is insufficient (Yes in step S71), it is then determined whether or not the pressurization
Subsequently, it is determined whether or not the pressurization
Then, while the count value of the ink leakage detection timer started in step S76 moves from the initial pressurization position to the pressurization limit position, the ink ejection is continuously performed with the maximum ejection amount of the
