BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an excellent method for bonding rubber and fiber and a rubber / fiber composite obtained by this bonding method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, various fibers have been used as rubber reinforcing fibers for products such as tires, hoses, and conveyor belts. However, fibers such as polyester fibers have poor adhesion to rubber.
[0003]
Adhesion between rubber and fiber consists of a method in which the fiber cord is pre-treated with an adhesive and then vulcanized and bonded to the rubber compound, and an adhesive is added to the rubber compound together with the untreated fiber and simultaneously vulcanized. There is a method of bonding rubber and fiber. The former consists of a mixture of resorcin and formaldehyde precondensate aqueous solution and rubber latex as an adhesive. In the case of polyester, sufficient adhesive strength cannot be obtained by this alone, and therefore, it is pretreated with an epoxy compound before the adhesive treatment. These methods have the problem that the processing apparatus is large, the processing itself is very complicated, the productivity is low, and the environment is not good because it involves an odor. On the other hand, the latter is a method in which rubber and fiber are directly bonded by blending a rubber compound with a methylene acceptor such as resorcin, a methylene donor such as hexamethylenetetramine, and silica. This method has a problem in that sufficient adhesion cannot be obtained because the fiber is not subjected to surface treatment.
[0004]
In JP-A-7-224189, the rubber reinforcement is improved by blending and kneading rubber, short fibers, silica and a coupling agent, but the short fibers themselves are not subjected to surface treatment. It does not show strong reinforcement.

Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 7-224189
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is to provide a rubber and fiber bonding method that is extremely simple and excellent in adhesiveness, and a rubber / fiber composite obtained by this method.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the method for bonding rubber and fiber according to the present invention, the fiber is impregnated with at least one radical polymerizable monomer having an organic group containing an allyl group, an epoxy group or an alkoxy group in the molecule, and irradiated with an electron beam. A rubber composition in which a compounding agent that reacts with the organic group is added to rubber is vulcanized and bonded.
[0008]
In this way, in the present invention, the fiber is impregnated with a monomer containing an organic group such as an allyl group, an epoxy group, or an alkoxy group, and a simple process of irradiating an electron beam is performed. Processing becomes extremely simple, and thus productivity can be increased.
[0009]
Further, in the present invention, the organic group is introduced into the fiber surface by impregnating the fiber-containing monomer as described above and irradiated with an electron beam, while reacting with the organic group. Since a compounding agent such as a product or a silane coupling agent is blended in the rubber composition, it is possible to improve the adhesion between the rubber and the fiber.
[0010]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In the present invention, the fiber is impregnated with a radically polymerizable monomer having an allyl group, epoxy group or alkoxy group-containing organic group, and irradiated with an electron beam to be radically polymerized and grafted onto the fiber surface. The fibers to be treated in this way are polyester fibers, polyamide fibers, acrylic fibers, polyvinyl alcohol fibers, polyolefin fibers, polyvinyl chloride fibers, polyurethane fibers, and other synthetic fibers, rayon and other recycled fibers, Mention may be made of natural fibers such as cotton, silk and hemp. These fibers are, for example, in the form of fiber cords composed of fiber filaments.
[0011]
Here, examples of the monomer containing an allyl group include allyl methacrylate. Examples of the monomer containing an epoxy group include glycidyl methacrylate. Examples of the monomer containing an alkoxy group include 3-acryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane, γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane, and vinyltrimethoxysilane.
[0012]
In the present invention, there is no particular limitation on the monomer graft polymerization method by electron beam irradiation. The simultaneous irradiation method of irradiating may be used.
[0013]
In the present invention, the monomer polymerization is preferably used as a monomer solution. There is no restriction | limiting in particular in the solvent to be used, For example, organic solvents, such as water, alcohol, and ethylene dichloride, can be mentioned. The monomer solution can be used as it is after preparation, but it is preferable to deoxygenate by bubbling of an inert gas or the like in order to prevent the disappearance of radicals generated by electron beam irradiation. The concentration of the monomer solution is not particularly limited.
[0014]
In the present invention, the dose of the fiber irradiated with the electron beam is not particularly limited, but is preferably 5 to 1000 kGy, and more preferably 100 to 700 kGy. If the electron beam dose is less than 5 kGy, there is a possibility that sufficient graft polymerization may not occur, and if it exceeds 1000 kGy, the fiber material may be cured or deteriorated. There is no restriction | limiting in particular in acceleration voltage, Although it can select suitably by the thickness etc. of the fiber raw material to process, Usually, it is preferable that it is 150-300 kV. In addition, the oxygen irradiation atmosphere preferably has a low oxygen concentration, and is preferably 500 ppm or less. The electron beam irradiation is preferably performed in a nitrogen atmosphere.
[0015]
In the present invention, as described above, a rubber composition in which a monomer containing an organic group such as an allyl group, an epoxy group, or an alkoxy group is impregnated, a fiber irradiated with an electron beam, and a compound that easily reacts with each monomer, Perform vulcanization adhesion.
[0016]
That is, a rubber composition in which 0.5 to 6 parts by weight of an organic peroxide is added to 100 parts by weight of an elastomer is vulcanized and bonded to a fiber impregnated with an allyl group-containing monomer and irradiated with an electron beam. To do. For fibers impregnated with a monomer containing an epoxy group and irradiated with an electron beam, 10 to 100 parts by weight of silica is added to 100 parts by weight of the elastomer and a silane compound is added in an amount of 1 to 15% by weight of the silica content. The rubber composition is vulcanized and bonded. A rubber composition in which 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of a silane coupling agent is added to 100 parts by weight of an elastomer is vulcanized and bonded to a fiber impregnated with a monomer containing an alkoxy group and irradiated with an electron beam. is there.
[0017]
Here, the diene rubber constituting the rubber composition may be a known rubber, such as natural rubber (NR), isoprene rubber (IR), butadiene rubber (BR), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), chloroprene rubber. (CR), acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), butyl rubber (IIR), ethylene propylene rubber (EPM, EPDM), chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM), chlorinated polyethylene (CM), acrylic rubber (ACM), epichlorohydrin rubber (C, ECO), fluororubber (FKM) and the like. In the rubber composition in which 0.5 to 6 parts by weight of the organic peroxide is added to 100 parts by weight of the elastomer, the addition amount (blending amount) of the organic peroxide is less than 0.5 part by weight. Sulfuration does not proceed and a sufficient rubber composition cannot be obtained. On the other hand, when the amount exceeds 6 parts by weight, vulcanization proceeds too much and becomes brittle. Examples of the organic peroxide include benzoyl peroxide (BPO), t-butyl peroxybenzoate (Z), dicumyl peroxide (DCP), t-butyl cumyl peroxide (C), t-butyl peroxide ( D), 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di-t-butylperoxyhexane (2,5B), 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di-t-butylperoxy-3-hexyne (Hexyne) -3), 2-4-dichloro-benzoyl peroxide (DC-BPO), di-t-butylperoxy-di-isopropylbenzene (P), 1,1-bis (t-butylperoxy) -3, 3,5-trimethyl-cyclohexane (3M), n-butyl-4,4-bis (t-butylperoxy) butane and the like can be mentioned.
[0018]
In a rubber composition in which 10 to 100 parts by weight of silica is added to 100 parts by weight of the elastomer and 1 to 15% by weight of the silane coupling agent is added to the amount of silica, the amount of silica added (the amount added) is 10 parts by weight. If it is less than 100%, the reinforcing property of the rubber is not sufficient. On the other hand, if it exceeds 100 parts by weight, the viscosity of the unvulcanized rubber increases and the processability deteriorates. On the other hand, when the addition amount of the silane coupling agent is less than 1% by weight of the silica blending amount, the viscosity is increased, the processability is deteriorated, and the rubber reinforcement is not sufficient. On the other hand, if it exceeds 15% by weight, bleeding or blooming occurs in unvulcanized rubber or vulcanized rubber.
[0019]
Examples of the silane coupling agent include bis (3-triethoxysilylpropyl) tetrasulfide, bis (2-trimethoxysilylethyl) tetrasulfide, bis (3-triethoxysilylpropyl) tetrasulfide, and bis (2-trimethoxy). Silylethyl) tetrasulfide, bis (3-triethoxysilylpropyl) trisulfide, bis (3-triethoxysilylpropyl) trisulfide, bis (3-triethoxysilylpropyl) disulfide, bis- (3-triethoxysilylpropyl) ) Disulfide, 3-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane, 3-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane, 2-mercaptoethyltriethoxysilane, 2-mercaptoethyltriethoxysilane, 3-nitropropylethoxysilane, 3 Nitropropyltrimethoxysilane, 3-chloropropyltriethoxysilane, 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane, 2-chloroethyltriethoxysilane, 2-chloroethyltrimethoxysilane, 3-triethoxysilanepropyl-N, N-dimethyl Thiocarbamoyl tetrasulfide, 3-trimethoxysilylpropyl-N, N-dimethylthiocarbamoyl tetrasulfide, 2-triethoxysilylethyl-N, N-dimethylthiocarbamoyl tetrasulfide, 3-triethoxysilanepropyl methacrylate mono Sulfide, 3-trimethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate monosulfide, 3-triethoxysilylpropylbenzothiazole tetrasulfide, 3-trimethoxysilylpropylbenzothiazoletetras Fido and the like, a coupling agent addition effect and cost-bis terms of compatibility of (3-triethoxysilylpropyl) tetrasulfide and the like are preferable.
[0020]
A rubber compounding agent such as a vulcanizing agent (crosslinking agent), a vulcanization accelerator, an anti-aging agent, and a reinforcing agent (carbon black, silica, etc.) can be appropriately added to the rubber composition.
[0021]
In vulcanization adhesion, for example, fibers are embedded in a rubber composition (the rubber composition is in a paste-like or viscous state because it is not vulcanized), and then this rubber composition is vulcanized. Is done by doing. This vulcanization may be performed by a conventional method. What is necessary is just to heat a rubber composition at the temperature of 160-180 degreeC. In this way, a rubber / fiber composite can be obtained.
[0022]
Examples 1 to 3
The monomers shown in Table 1 were dissolved in methanol and subjected to nitrogen gas publishing. Concentrations were adjusted to 3.0 mol / l for GMA, 2.0 mol / l for APSi, and 4.0 mol / l for AMA. The monomer solution was impregnated with a fiber cord (1670 dtex) made of polyethylene terephthalate fiber (PET), which is a kind of polyester fiber, and then irradiated with an electron beam. The irradiation conditions were an acceleration voltage of 240 kV, a conveyance speed of 5 m / min, and an irradiation dose of 500 kGy.
[0023]
The polyester fiber cords thus treated were embedded in an unvulcanized rubber composition having the composition shown in Table 1 in a predetermined length, and vulcanized by a conventional method to obtain a sample (rubber block) (Example 1). ~ 3).
[0024]
On the other hand, for comparison, an untreated polyester fiber cord (3300 dtex) was embedded in an unvulcanized rubber composition blended as shown in Table 1 in a predetermined length, and vulcanized by a conventional method to obtain a sample (rubber (Comparative Examples 1 to 3).
The following adhesion tests were performed using these samples. The results are shown in Table 1.
[0025]

The cord was pulled out from the sample in accordance with JIS 1017T-test method, and the pulling force at this time was measured.
[0026]
Examples 4 to 5
After adjusting the fiber cord treated with APSi by the same treatment as in Example 2, it was cut into a length of 1 mm, mixed and vulcanized with the compounding agents shown in Table 2. On the other hand, a sample containing an untreated fiber cord was also prepared for comparison.
Tensile test In accordance with JIS K 6301, a tensile test was performed, and the elastic modulus (E) and breaking stress (Tb) at that time were measured.

[0031]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the rubber and fiber bonding method of the present invention, it is possible to increase the adhesion between rubber and fiber very easily.
