上記特許文献1に記載されたカードホルダ付コンテナにおいては、カードのほぼ中央を横切るようにカードホルダーの水平枠が配置されるので、カードを見る方向によってはカードに記載された情報が見難い場合がある。また、カードに多くの情報を表示しようとすれば、水平枠に遮られないように、その上下に配置される部分に情報を記載しなければならず、記載内容が解り難くなる可能性がある。さらに、カードの上半分が保持されないので、カードが折れ曲がる等してカードに表示された情報が見えなくなる場合もある。
上記特許文献2に記載されたカードホルダ付コンテナにおいては、容器の側壁とカード押え枠との間にカードを挿し込むが、カードに記載された情報はカード押え枠に設けられた横長の開口からしか見ることができないので、多くの情報をカードに表示することができない。

本実施例におけるカードホルダ付コンテナ(以下では単に「コンテナ」とする)は、長方形状の底板1と、底板1の長手方向に延在して互いに平行な2つの側縁にそれぞれヒンジ連結されて対をなす2枚の長手側板2と、底板1の短手方向に延在して互いに平行な2つの側縁にそれぞれヒンジ連結されて対をなす同じく2枚の短手側板(図1、図3では一方の短手側板のみ図示)3とから構成されている。底板1、長手側板2および短手側板3の材質はポリエチレンである。このコンテナは、2枚の長手側板2を、上縁を互いに重複させて底板1の上に折り畳み、続いて2枚の短手側板3を先に折り畳んだ長手側板2の上に折り畳むことで、未使用時等にコンテナの専有する容積を小さくすることができるようになっている。なお、長手側板2および短手側板3の材質はポリプロピレンでもよい。
