BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a throw-away tip and a manufacturing method thereof, and more particularly, to a throw-away tip whose cutting edge portion is a sharp edge and a manufacturing method thereof.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, it has been performed to control the sharpness, surface roughness, etc. of a predetermined cutting edge part by polishing the cutting edge part of the chip from the rake face side or the flank side. For example, in
[0003]
Further, in Patent Document 2, in order to reduce the surface roughness of the diamond coating, cutting is performed by polishing with a polishing brush to which abrasive grains are attached from above while rotating the chip on a turntable that rotates and revolves. It is described that it is possible to produce a long-lasting throw-away tip that is inexpensive and excellent in sharpness of the cutting edge portion and chip dischargeability by using only the cutting edge portion involved in the surface as a smooth mirror surface.

[Patent Document 2]

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, as described in
[0007]
Further, in the method of fixing the tip to the turntable and polishing the rake face and flank face of the tip with a polishing brush as in Patent Document 2, only the vicinity of the cutting edge necessary for cutting can be smoothed, The curvature radius of the cutting edge becomes larger than necessary, and as a result, a sharp edge cannot be formed in the cutting edge, and there is a limit to improving the sharpness.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-mentioned problems, and the object thereof is a throw-away tip including a cutting edge part having a good sharpness that achieves both a sharpness of the cutting edge part and a smooth surface state of the cutting edge part, and It is in providing the manufacturing method.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
As a result of studying the above problems, the present inventors improved the flank polishing method to form a cutting edge portion having a sharp edge with a radius of curvature (R) of 5 μm or less, and the cutting edge on the flank The area A from the portion to the middle of the flank has a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.10 μm or less, and the arithmetic average surface roughness (Ra) in the area B from the middle of the flank to the other end of the flank is By adopting a rougher configuration than that in the region A, it is possible to easily form a sharp edge at the cutting edge portion, and to achieve a throw-away tip that is excellent in sharpness and smoothes the finished surface of the work material in a short time and at low cost. It was found that it can be produced.
[0010]
That is, the throw-away tip of the present invention has a cutting edge portion having a sharp edge with a radius of curvature (R) of 5 μm or less at a crossing ridge line portion that has a substantially flat plate shape and forms a rake face and a side face that forms a flank face. The region A from the cutting edge portion to the middle of the flank in the flank is formed with an arithmetic average surface roughness (Ra) of 0.10 μm or less, and from the middle of the flank to the other end of the flank. The surface roughness (Ra) in the region B is rougher than that in the region A.
[0011]
Here, polishing is performed in the region A and the region B, and it is easy to form a sharp edge that the polishing direction is parallel to the intersecting ridge line direction and the ease of polishing processing. Is desirable.
[0012]
Further, the positive angle in the A region of the flank is 5 to 20 °, and the positive angle of the B region is 0.1 to 3 ° larger than the positive angle of the A region. This is desirable in terms of maintaining the strength of the part, stabilizing the sitting on the holder, and ease of polishing.
[0013]
Furthermore, even when a hard coating layer having a film thickness of 0.2 to 2 μm is coated on at least the surface of the cutting edge portion by physical vapor deposition, the curvature radius (R) of the cutting edge portion is 5 μm or less, and in the region A By controlling the surface roughness (Ra) to be 0.10 μm or less and the arithmetic average surface roughness (Ra) in the region B to be rougher than that in the region A, the sharpness and the finished surface accuracy of the work material are improved. The superiority of the excellent throw-away tip can be maintained, the sharpness can be maintained for a longer period, and the wear resistance of the cutting edge portion is improved. The surface roughness (Ra) of the rake face is preferably 0.20 μm or less from the viewpoint that the sharpness of the cutting edge can be further increased to increase the sharpness of the chip, and the chip can be discharged smoothly.
[0014]
Further, the throw-away tip is a cemented carbide comprising hard particles mainly composed of tungsten carbide particles or titanium carbonitride particles having an average particle size of 0.9 μm or less, and a bonded metal of cobalt and / or nickel of 10 to 20% by mass. Being made of an alloy or a cermet base material can further improve the sharpness of the cutting edge, and can produce an inexpensive and long-lasting throw-away tip with excellent polishing processability.
[0015]
In addition, the method for manufacturing the throw-away tip according to the present invention is a method of producing a sintered body having a cutting edge portion at a crossing ridge line portion with a main surface forming a rake face and a side surface forming a flank face, which is substantially flat. Further, at least the vicinity of the intersecting ridge line of the side surface is polished with a polishing grindstone finer than the first polishing grindstone.
[0016]
Here, after the polishing process, forming a hard coating layer having a thickness of 0.2 to 2 μm on at least the surface of the cutting edge portion by physical vapor deposition can maintain a sharpness for a longer period of time. And, it is desirable in that the wear resistance of the cutting edge portion is improved.
[0017]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
A throw-away tip (hereinafter simply referred to as a tip) of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. 1 which is a schematic perspective view thereof.
[0018]
According to FIG. 1, a throw-away tip (hereinafter simply referred to as a tip) 1 has a cutting edge at an intersection ridge line 5 portion with a main surface forming a
[0019]
According to the present invention, the cutting edge portion 6 has a sharp edge with a radius of curvature (R) of 5 μm or less, and the area A from the cutting edge portion 6 to the middle of the flank 4 on the flank 4 is an arithmetic average surface roughness. (Ra) (hereinafter simply abbreviated as surface roughness (Ra)) The surface roughness (Ra) in the region B from the middle of the flank 4 to the
[0020]
That is, when the radius of curvature (R) of the cutting edge portion 6 is larger than 5 μm, the cutting edge portion becomes worse and the tool life is shortened, or particularly when performing ultra-precise cutting such as machining of OA equipment. In this case, the surface roughness of the work material becomes worse than the required performance.
[0021]
Further, when the surface roughness (Ra) of the region A from the cutting edge 6 on the flank 4 to the middle of the flank 4 becomes worse than 0.10 μm, the unevenness (ΔH) of the intersecting ridge line becomes large and the cutting edge 6 This leads to a reduction in tool sharpness and a reduction in surface roughness of the work material. In addition, the desirable range of the surface roughness (Ra) of the region A is 0.02 to 0.08 μm in terms of the sharpness and workability of the cutting edge portion 6.
[0022]
Furthermore, if the surface roughness (Ra) of the region B from the middle of the flank 4 to the
[0023]
According to the present invention, the height h A of the region A is 0.5 to 2 mm, or the ratio h A / h of the height h A of the region A to the height h of the entire flank is 1 / It is desirable that it is 5 to 1/2 in terms of ease of manufacture while ensuring a stable cutting edge.
[0024]
Here, polishing is performed in the region A and the region B, and it is desirable that the polishing direction is parallel to the intersecting ridge line direction from the viewpoint of forming a sharp edge and the ease of polishing. The polishing direction can be specified by observing polishing scratches in the regions A and B.
[0025]
Further, as shown in FIG. 2, the positive angle θ A in the A region of the flank 4 is 5 to 20 °, particularly 5 to 15 °, and the positive angle θ B of the B region is the positive angle θ A of the A region. It is desirable that the angle is 0.1 to 3 °, particularly 0.5 to 2 ° larger than that in view of the strength of the cutting edge portion 6 and the stability of the sliding to the holder and the ease of polishing. .
[0026]
Further, according to FIG. 1, the
[0027]
Furthermore, the
[0028]
(Production method)
A method for manufacturing the above-described throw-away tip of the present invention will be described.
[0029]
First, a sintered body (base material) having a substantially flat plate shape is prepared by mixing, forming and firing raw material powders by powder metallurgy.
[0030]
Specifically, after adding a carbon powder or an organic binder to a hard particle forming raw material powder having an average particle size of 3 μm or less, particularly 1 μm or less, and a binding metal raw material powder, and mixing them using a ball mill or an attritor mill Then, it is formed into a predetermined shape by press molding or cold isostatic pressing. Then, firing is performed at a predetermined temperature in an oxidizing atmosphere or a non-oxidizing atmosphere.
[0031]
Next, the main surface to be a rake face of the obtained sintered body is polished if desired.
[0032]
Grinding of the rake face may be performed on both main surfaces or one surface, but polishing both main surfaces is desirable in terms of stabilizing the sitting on the holder and increasing the sharpness of the cutting edge.
[0033]
And the side surface of a sintered compact is grind | polished using the outer periphery grindstone provided with 2 or more types of abrasives from which roughness differs. In this case, as shown in FIG. 3, two or more types of abrasives are set in the order of coarse grade abrasives to fine grade abrasives, and the entire surface of the sintered body is rough first. Polish with grade abrasive 21. Then, the sintered body is transferred to a fine grade abrasive 22 and is tilted and polished as desired to polish only the region A with a fine grade grindstone, thereby reducing the surface roughness (Ra) of only the region A to 0. Control to 10 μm or less.
[0034]
Next, if desired, a polishing breaker may be formed in the vicinity of the cutting edge 6 on the rake face.
[0035]
Further, according to the present invention, after the polishing process, it is possible to form a hard coating layer having a film thickness of 0.2 to 2 μm on at least the surface of the cutting edge portion 6 by physical vapor deposition. In this case, the radius of curvature (Ra) of the cutting edge portion 6 is set to a sharp edge of 5 μm or less, and the clearance is improved. The area A of the surface from the cutting edge portion to the middle of the flank is a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.10 μm or less, and the surface roughness in the area B from the middle of the flank to the other end of the flank ( By controlling Ra) to be rougher than that in the region A, the above-described sharpness and surface roughness of the work material can be achieved.

A VTGT-shaped chip base material made of a cemented carbide obtained by bonding hard particles having an average particle diameter shown in Table 1 with a bonding metal shown in Table 1 was prepared, and a grindstone was placed on the rake face side of the chip. After polishing to the surface roughness shown in Table 1, an outer peripheral grindstone in which two or more types of abrasives shown in Table 1 are sequentially set is prepared. First, the entire side surface of the sintered body is polished with the coarsest grade grindstone. After polishing for 2 seconds, by tilting the sintered body, only the height (area A) of 0.6 mm from the intersecting ridge is polished with a fine grade grindstone shown in Table 1, and the surface roughness of the flank is shown in Table 1. It was set as the value shown. And the grinding | polishing breaker was formed along the outer periphery ridgeline of a rake face.
[0037]
Next, a chip was produced by forming a coating layer shown in Table 1 on the above-mentioned chip base material by arc ion plating.
[0038]
For the obtained chip, the time required for polishing, the radius of curvature of the cutting edge, and the surface roughness of the work material were measured. Further, a cutting test was performed under the following conditions, and the number of workpieces processed was measured with the time when the surface roughness (Ra) of the work material exceeded 0.08 μm as the lifetime. The results are shown in Table 1.

On the other hand, sample No. 1 polished from the beginning with a fine-grade grindstone. In No. 5, the clogging of the grindstone occurred and processing defects occurred, and the sample No. 5 polished with a rough grade grindstone was used. In No. 6, the sharpness of the cutting edge was impaired and the cutting performance was poor.

【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, according to the throw-away tip of the present invention, the flank polishing method is improved to form a cutting edge portion having a sharp edge with a radius of curvature (R) of 5 μm or less, and The area A from the cutting edge to the middle of the flank has a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.10 μm or less, and the surface roughness (Ra) in the area B from the middle of the flank to the other end of the flank. However, by making the configuration rougher than that in the region A, it is possible to easily improve the surface roughness only in the vicinity of the cutting edge, which affects the sharp edge and chip discharge performance on the cutting edge portion, and is excellent in sharpness. A throw-away tip that can smooth the finished surface of the work material can be produced in a short time and at a low cost.
