【解決手段】 [化1]で表される有機金属錯体を合成する(式中、R1〜R5は、水素原子、ハロゲン原子、低級アルキル基、アルコキシ基、アシル基、ニトロ基、シアノ基、アミノ基、ジアルキルアミノ基、ジアリールアミノ基、ビニル基、アリール基、複素環残基、のいずれかを表す。また、R1とR2、R2とR3、R4とR5はそれぞれ互いに結合し、芳香族環を形成してもよい。Yは、窒素原子をヘテロ原子として含む複素環残基を表す。Mは、第9族原子または第10族原子を表す。Mが第9族原子の場合はn=2、第10族原子の場合はn=1となる。Lは、ベータジケトン構造を有するモノアニオン性の二座キレート配位子、カルボキシル基を有するモノアニオン性の二座キレート配位子、フェノール性水酸基を有するモノアニオン性の二座キレート配位子、のいずれかを表す。)。

Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様として、本発明の有機金属錯体の合成方法について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様として、本発明の有機金属錯体を用いた発光素子について図1を用いて説明する。
本合成例では、上記構造式(17)で表される本発明の有機金属錯体(略称:Ir(pcz)2(pic))の合成方法について説明する。
まず、オルトジクロロベンゼン・40mlを溶媒として、カルバゾールを3.94g、2−ヨードピリジンを7.26g、炭酸カリウムを13.10g、銅粉末を3g、18−クラウン−6−エーテルを0.62g混合し、窒素雰囲気下にて10時間還流した。その後、銅および無機塩を除去し、クロロホルム溶媒にてカラム精製を行うことにより、配位子Hpcz(9−(2−ピリジル)カルバゾール)を得た(乳白色粉末、収率93%)。本合成の合成スキーム(b−1)を下記に示す。
次に、2−エトキシエタノール30mlと水10mlとの混合液を溶媒として、上記合成(ステップ1)で得たHpczを1.55g、塩化イリジウム(IrCl3・HCl・H2O)を0.76g混合し、窒素雰囲気下14時間還流することにより、複核錯体[Ir(pcz)2Cl]2 を得た(黄色粉末、収率91%)。本合成の合成スキーム(b−2)を下記に示す。
さらに、2−エトキシエタノール30mlを溶媒として、上記で得られた[Ir(pcz)2Cl]2 を0.66g、ピコリン酸(Hpic)を0.17g、炭酸ナトリウムを0.48g混合し、窒素雰囲気下にて26時間還流した。得られた黄色粉末を、エタノール溶媒にて再結晶することにより、本発明の燐光性化合物Ir(pcz)2(pic)を得た(黄色粉末、収率87%)。本合成の合成スキーム(b−3)を下記に示す。なお、黄色粉末に関し、ESI−MSにより質量分析を行ったところ、m/z=802が観測された。また、黄色粉末を核磁気共鳴法(1H−NMR)によって測定したところ、下記の結果が得られ、本発明の2−ピリジルカルバゾール錯体であることが確認できた。
1H-NMR (300 MHz, DMSO−d6) d ppm: 8.18(m,5H)、7.91(m,6H)、7.78(d,1H)、7.65(m,2H)、7.50(m,6H)、6.92(t,1H)、6.81(m,2H)、6.70(t,1H)、6.40(d,1H)、5.75(d,1H)。
下記構造式(23)で表される従来のイリジウム錯体(略称:Ir(tpy)2(acac))を合成し、分解温度TdをTG−DTAにより測定したところ、Td=298℃であった。
