Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an arsenic sorption substance useful for purification of arsenic-contaminated water or contaminated soil, and more particularly, at least a portion of sulfate ions present in the structure of Schwertmannite, which is an arsenic sorption substance, is converted into a silica. The present invention relates to a method of stabilizing schwertmannite by substituting with acid ions and efficiently removing arsenic from mine wastewater or heavy metal contaminated soil.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Arsenic contamination of groundwater and soil due to industrial activities such as abandoned mines, semiconductor factories, or natural elution is spreading all over the world. Especially in Bangladesh, arsenic contamination of drinking well water is significant, and the number of chronic arsenic poisoning patients is estimated to be 40 million.
[0003]
The methods that have been used to date for arsenic contamination are as follows. In other words, mine wastewater is co-precipitated by lime neutralization, semiconductor factories and the like are treated with chelating agents, groundwater is filtered with ion exchange resins or membrane filters, and The contaminated soil is solidified with cement.
[0004]
In addition, various arsenic removal apparatuses or arsenic removal agents have been developed as methods for purifying arsenic-contaminated water and contaminated soil. For example, an apparatus for recovering arsenic-contaminated soil and washing it after heat treatment (Patent Document 1), or a method for recovering arsenic-contaminated soil and extracting and removing arsenic using a purifier comprising a water-soluble phosphate under heating conditions (Patent Document 2).
[0005]
However, either of the above-mentioned methods is an unstable technique for removing or passivating arsenic, or it is expensive, and it can be used for a wide range of groundwater pollution countermeasures such as Bangladesh and small and medium-sized factories. The treatment of contaminated water is not appropriate in terms of performance and price.
Under such circumstances, establishment of a more efficient arsenic removal method is required.
[0006]
On the other hand, despite the fact that sulfuric acid mine wastewater containing arsenic is flowing, investigations have been conducted in areas where arsenic and sulfuric acid concentrations decrease before reaching the river from the source, confirming a phenomenon that falls below environmental standards. (Non-Patent Document 1). As a result of the investigation, it became clear that sulfuric acid was consumed by the action of iron-oxidizing bacteria, and Schwartmanite, a low crystalline iron mineral with the property of adsorbing anions, was produced. Schwertmannite has the structural formula Fe 8 O 8 OH 8-2x (SO 4 ) x [1 ≦ x ≦ 1.75] is a low crystalline mineral, and is a substance that is produced by iron-oxidizing bacteria and exists in nature as described above. FIG. 1 shows a structural model diagram of Schwertmannite.

[0013]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, as described above, Schwertmannite has a high arsenic sorption ability, but also has a characteristic that it easily changes into an inactive goethite by dissolution and reprecipitation.
Therefore, when mixed into low-concentration arsenic-contaminated water or soil, or when stored or transported for a long period of time, a phase change occurred and sufficient arsenic sorption ability could not be exhibited.
The technique disclosed in
[0014]
On the other hand, in the case of Schwertmannite in which arsenic is sorbed and sulfate ions in the structure are replaced with arsenate ions, the structure is stabilized and arsenic is retained. Moreover, even if all the sites that can be substituted (arsenic sorbable sites) are not substituted, sufficient stability is shown (Non-Patent Document 1).
[0015]
Therefore, the present inventors first attempted stabilization by replacing sulfate ions in the structure of Schwertmannite with arsenic acid or the like.
However, since arsenic acid is a toxic substance, it is difficult to handle when mass production of schwertmannite is considered, and in addition, the arsenic sorption site of schwertmannite is blocked, so the removal of arsenic, which is the original purpose Had the problem of obstructing.
[0016]
In order to overcome the problem of stabilizing schwertmannite while maintaining arsenic sorption capability, the present invention replaces sulfate ions present in the structure of schwertmannite with silicate ions, An object of the present invention is to provide a Schwertmannite having a stabilized arsenic sorption ability by stabilizing the structure.
[0017]
Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for purifying by mixing schwertmannite stabilized by silicate ion substitution with arsenic-contaminated water or soil in order to solve the problem of efficiently performing arsenic contamination treatment. .
[0018]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The invention according to
Here, as the iron mineral arsenic sorption substance, Schwertmannite is preferable.
The reason that at least a part of the sulfate ions is replaced with silicate ions means that it is not necessary to replace all of the sulfate ions with silicate ions.
[0019]
In this way, by replacing a part of sulfate ions contained in Schwertmannite with silicate ions, the structure can be stabilized and phase change to an inactive type can be prevented.
[0020]
In the invention according to
Adding the iron mineral arsenic sorption substance according to
By sorbing and passivating arsenic in contaminated water or soil to the iron mineral arsenic sorbent,
It is characterized by purifying contaminated water or soil.
[0021]
In this way, when using Schwbertmannite in which sulfate ions in the structure are replaced by silicate ions and stabilized, arsenic contaminated water or soil with low arsenic concentration has stable arsenic adsorption ability over a long period of time. Can be removed.
[0022]
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to stabilize the arsenic sorption ability of Schwertmannite, and as a result, it is possible to efficiently purify arsenic-contaminated water or contaminated soil.
[0023]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, the embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with respect to the evaluation of its stability, taking as an example a Schwermannite stabilized by replacing sulfate ions in the structure with silicate ions.
[0024]
Schwertmannite is an iron mineral produced by iron-oxidizing bacteria and can be synthesized in the laboratory by culturing iron-oxidizing bacteria in an acidic culture solution containing sulfate ions and divalent iron ions. . Chemical synthesis is also possible by oxidizing an acidic solution containing sulfate ions and divalent iron ions. In the present embodiment, Schwertmannite was chemically synthesized and used.
[0025]
By replacing the

Since the cylindrical structure 131 is extremely stable, the
[0026]
As described above, the structural formula of Schwertmannite is Fe 8 O 8 OH 8.2x (SO 4 ) x [1 ≦ x ≦ 1.75], and the chemical composition containing the maximum sulfate ion is x = 1. 75 to become Fe 8 O 8 OH 4.5 (SO 4) becomes 1.75 (Bigham et al, Geochmica et cosmochimica Acta 54,2743-2758,1990.). In this example, including the hydrated water in the crystal, the structural formula of Schwertmannite is Fe 8 O 8 OH 4.5 (SO 4 ) 1.75 · 16.5H 2 O (MW: 11116.705). Assuming that the number of moles is calculated as follows:
[0027]
The amount of silicate ion that can be sorbed by substitution of sulfate ion and silicate ion, which is expected from the structural formula described above, is 1.75 mol at a maximum with respect to 1 mol of Schwermannite. As a result of the substitution, it is shown that 1 mol of sulfate ions at maximum per 1 mol of Schwermanite is substituted. In this example, the concentration of silicate ions to be added is adjusted by assuming this ratio. . That is, it is assumed that the maximum amount of silicate ions that can be sorbed to 1 mol of Schwermanite (8 mol of iron) is 1 mol.
[0028]
As a supply source of silicate ions, in this example, sodium silicate [Na 2 O · nSiO 2 · nH 2 O, where the content of Na 2 O contained is 17.0 to 23.0%, and SiO 2 The ratio is 51.0-61.0%, pH (5 w / v%, 25 ° C.) 11.0-13.0]. Assuming that the content of SiO 2 (MW: 60.09) is 56%, a solution with Si of about 1 mol / L is prepared and used as a stock solution.
[0029]
Shake and shake the silicate solution in an arbitrary concentration of silicic acid, solid-liquid separation using a membrane filter, and then use a spectrophotometer to measure the concentration of blank silica without adding the liquid phase and schbertmannite. Measure and confirm the silicate ion sorption amount of Schwertmannite from the difference.
[0030]
After the solid-liquid separation described above, the recovered solid phase is suspended in a small amount of deionized water, applied to a slide glass, and then fixed. The glass slide after fixing is left under a saturated water vapor condition at 50 ° C., and X-ray diffraction is performed over time to qualitatively confirm the presence or absence of a phase change from Schwertmannite to inactive goethite.
[0031]
The method described above is shown as a typical preferable example of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to these.
[0032]
(Example)
Examples of the present invention will be described in detail below.
[0033]
The synthesis of Schwertmannite was performed as follows. Specifically, 14.2 g of Na 2 SO 4 and 24.2 g of Fe (NO 3 ) 3 · 9H 2 O are added to 5 L of deionized water at 60 ° C. and reacted for 12 minutes, followed by a dialysis tube (SPECTRUM MEDICAL INDUSTRIES). The product was dialyzed for 1 month, and the solid phase in the dialysis tube was collected by filtration through a 0.2 μm mixed cellulose filter paper (manufactured by Advantech Toyo Co., Ltd.). After freeze-drying, about 5 g of powdered schwertmannite was obtained. It was.
[0034]
As described above, a sodium silicate stock solution (1M silicic acid) was prepared, and based on this, the silicic acid concentrations were 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 mmol / L. 100 ml of each diluted solution was prepared. Further, NaNO 3 was added to the solution as a supporting electrolyte so that the final concentration was 0.01 mol / L during the preparation of the diluted solution. 40 ml (0.0358 mmol) of each diluted solution was taken into a 50 ml polycarbonate centrifuge tube so that the amount of 1 g (0.895 mmol) of schwertmannite to 1 L of diluted silicic acid solution was added. It added in each dilution liquid and shaken for 24 hours on 25 degreeC and 160 rpm conditions. Moreover, the centrifuge tube which does not add Schwertmannite was provided as a blank, and the same process was performed.
[0035]
After shaking, solid-liquid separation is performed using a 0.2 μm membrane filter (manufactured by Advantech Toyo Co., Ltd.), and the concentration of silicic acid in the liquid phase is measured using a spectrophotometer based on molybdenum blue absorptiometry, The amount of silicic acid sorbed per gram of Schwermannite was determined from the difference from the blank. The measurement results of the silicic acid sorption amount are shown in Table 1 and FIG.
[0036]
[Table 1]
[0037]
As shown in FIG. 2, the substitution rate of silicate ions to Schwertmannite increases depending on the silicate concentration up to 0.6 mmol / L of silicate, and the concentration of silicate is 0.6 mmol / L or more. So the substitution of silicic acid with Schwbertmannite was almost equilibrated. The amount of silicic acid sorbed on Schwertmannite was small compared to the amount of arsenic arsenic described above, and was about 0.4 mmol / g at the maximum.
[0038]
Next, 30 mg of each solid phase after the above-described solid phase separation was recovered, and a small amount of deionized water was added and suspended. The whole suspension was applied to a slide glass and then fixed. A slide glass was placed in a container filled with water so that the fixing layer did not come into direct contact with water, and the whole glass container was placed in a thermostat at 50 ° C. and left under saturated steam. Each slide glass is subjected to a qualitative analysis using an X-ray diffraction apparatus (manufactured by Rigaku Corporation) before standing, after 1 week, after 3 weeks, and from Schwertmannite to inactive goethite. The presence or absence of a phase change was confirmed. As a result, the rate at which the phase change to goethite occurred was reduced by sorbing silicate ions on a portion of Schwertmannite. That is, schwertmannite was stabilized by sorbing silicate ions.
[0039]
The schwertmannite substituted with silicate ions by the above-described method can sorb arsenic by replacing silicon in the silicate ion portion with arsenic. Further, as described above, since schwertmannite can maintain a more stable structure by sorbing arsenic, it is possible to keep arsenic in the structure.
[0040]
As described above, it is possible to stabilize the schwertmannite by replacing sulfate ions in the structure of the schwertmannite with silicate ions. Furthermore, stabilized schwertmannite can sorb arsenic and retain arsenic in its structure.
[0041]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, it is possible to stabilize schwertmannite by substituting at least a part of sulfate ions in the structure of schwertmannite with silicate ions, and therefore, long-term storage or transportation. The arsenic sorption ability can be maintained even when the process is performed.
Furthermore, according to the present invention, it is possible to maintain the structure of Schwertmannite even in water in which phase change to goethite having a low arsenic sorption ability is likely to occur. Therefore, it can be applied for a long time as an arsenic removing material for contaminated water containing a low concentration of arsenic.
Moreover, according to the present invention, it is possible to maintain a stable structure of Schwertmannite even in the soil. Therefore, Schwertmannite is applied as an arsenic sorbent in underground and structures such as landfill sites and the surrounding area, and arsenic that gradually exudes from sediments is sorbed to increase external contamination. It is possible to prevent.
