The present invention relates to a discharge lamp lighting device, and particularly to a discharge lamp lighting device for controlling lighting of a high-intensity discharge lamp such as a metal halide lamp, a high-pressure sodium lamp, and a mercury lamp, and a method of lighting a discharge lamp using the discharge lamp lighting device. [0002]
[Prior art]
High-intensity discharge lamps, such as metal halide lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, and mercury lamps, do not light up when voltage is applied just like filament lamps, and they take time to reach a stable state. Requires a lighting device to control. This lighting device serves as a starter that creates a discharge path between the electrodes of the lamp and increases the current in the discharge path while maintaining the current in the discharge path to transition to arc discharge. In recent years, there has been a demand in the market for electronic devices using high-intensity discharge lamps, such as projectors, OHPs, and automobile headlights, that are compact, lightweight, and low-cost, and lighting devices that control the lighting of high-intensity discharge lamps. There is a similar demand for One of the simple ways to reduce the size of the lighting device itself is to increase the switching frequency of the switching element Q1 of the converter 2. However, increasing the switching frequency is difficult to achieve only with the converter circuit itself in order to avoid the occurrence of an acoustic resonance phenomenon unique to the lamp, and it is necessary to consider matching with the lamp.
[0006]
Therefore, a configuration in which the average value of the output power is adjusted by a full-bridge type inverter is disclosed in, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 8-293388. In the inverter, two arms are connected in parallel between the high potential side and the low potential side, and the polarity of the output power of the inverter is determined by two switching elements provided in one arm, and The average value of the output power is adjusted by two switching elements provided on the arm. As described above, by performing the PWM control on one of the two switching elements incorporated in one current path formed at the time of the operation of the inverter, it is possible to reduce the size of the lighting device in which the converter can be omitted.
[0007]
In addition, the high-intensity discharge lamp requires fine power control according to the instantaneous state of the lamp from the transition period immediately after the start of lighting of the lamp to the ballast. Therefore, the voltage applied to the lamp is usually detected by inserting a resistor in parallel with the lamp and dividing the voltage, and the current flowing through the lamp is converted into a current / voltage by inserting a minute resistor in the circuit of the lighting device. It was detected by doing.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a discharge lamp lighting device that controls the power of a discharge lamp with high accuracy in order to stably emit the discharge lamp at a desired luminance in view of the above problems.
[0012]
A further object of the present invention is to provide a discharge lamp control method for controlling a discharge lamp by a discharge lamp lighting device to stably emit light at a desired luminance.

[Means for Solving the Problems]
A discharge lamp lighting device according to
[0014]
With this configuration, the DC power input to the inverter circuit is converted into AC power by alternately opening and closing the second and fourth switching elements, and the second and fourth switching elements are further closed. The level of the AC power output from the inverter circuit is controlled by opening and closing the third and first switching elements corresponding to the above at a higher frequency. Therefore, the switching of the output polarity and the power control can be performed only by the inverter circuit, so that the number of components constituting the discharge lamp lighting device is reduced. Further, since the discharge lamp lighting device can be configured by a simple circuit, it contributes to downsizing and cost reduction of the discharge lamp lighting device.
[0015]
Further, the control of the AC power is performed alternately by the first and third switching elements with the switching of the open state of the second and fourth switching elements. Therefore, compared to the case where the control of the AC power is performed by only one switching element, the heat dissipation of the loss caused by the power control is achieved.
[0016]
The discharge lamp lighting device according to claim 2 of the present invention includes a first voltage detection circuit that detects a voltage applied to the discharge lamp, and a first current detection circuit that detects a current flowing through the discharge lamp. The control circuit further includes an arithmetic circuit that calculates the power of the discharge lamp using the detected voltage and the detected current, and controls the AC power according to the value of the power. And
[0017]
According to the above configuration, the voltage applied to the discharge lamp and the current flowing through the discharge lamp are continuously and directly detected. Further, the power calculated based on the detected voltage and current does not include a loss in the inverter circuit.
[0018]
The discharge lamp lighting control device according to
[0019]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the discharge lamp lighting control device, the first current detection circuit includes a first current detection circuit provided between the second switching element and the low potential terminal in the first arm. And a second resistor provided between the fourth switching element and the low potential terminal in the second arm. With this configuration, even when the first and third switching elements that control the output AC power are open while the second and fourth switching elements are closed, the first switching element is opened. When a current is flowing through the discharge lamp, the current detection circuit detects the current. Therefore, since the current flowing through the discharge lamp can be continuously detected, power control of the discharge lamp can be performed with high accuracy. Further, it is possible to prevent an overcurrent that flows due to an unexpected situation or an overcurrent that easily flows when the discharge lamp is turned on from flowing into the discharge lamp.
[0020]
The discharge lamp lighting device according to claim 5, wherein the second voltage detection circuit detects a voltage input to the inverter circuit, and the second current detection circuit detects a current input to the inverter circuit. The control circuit further includes an arithmetic circuit that calculates the power of the discharge lamp using the detected voltage and the detected current, and controls the AC power according to the value of the power. It is characterized. According to the above configuration, since the voltage applied to the inverter circuit and the current flowing into the inverter circuit are detected, the power supplied from the inverter circuit to the lamp can be detected.
[0021]
A discharge lamp control method according to
[0022]
According to the above method, the voltage applied to the discharge lamp is detected, and the current flowing through the discharge lamp is continuously detected, so that the AC power supplied to the discharge lamp is calculated with high accuracy. Therefore, the power supplied to the discharge lamp can be controlled with higher accuracy based on the calculated AC power.

【The invention's effect】
According to the discharge lamp lighting device of the first aspect of the present invention, the inverter circuit converts the input DC power into low-frequency AC power and controls the output power. The number of parts constituting the device can be reduced. Further, the discharge lamp lighting device can be constituted by a simple circuit, which contributes to downsizing of the device and cost reduction.
[0085]
Further, since the control of the AC power is performed alternately by the third and first switching elements, the heat loss of the power loss generated in the discharge lamp lighting device can be achieved.
[0086]
According to the discharge lamp lighting device of the second aspect of the present invention, the discharge lamp voltage applied to the discharge lamp and the discharge lamp current flowing through the discharge lamp can be directly and continuously detected, so that the power of the discharge lamp can be reduced. Required with high accuracy. Furthermore, the power of only the discharge lamp without loss of the inverter circuit can be accurately obtained, and more accurate power control can be performed.
[0087]
According to the discharge lamp lighting device of the third aspect of the present invention, the discharge lamp voltage applied to the discharge lamp can be directly and continuously detected. Therefore, it is possible to control the AC power output from the inverter circuit based on the detected voltage with higher accuracy.
[0088]
According to the discharge lamp lighting device according to claim 4 of the present invention, the current flowing through the discharge lamp can be detected when the second or fourth switching element that is performing power control is closed. The power can be obtained with higher accuracy, and more accurate power control of the discharge lamp can be performed. In addition, since the instantaneous value of the current flowing through the discharge lamp can be continuously detected, it is possible to prevent an overcurrent from flowing in the discharge lamp lighting device.
[0089]
According to the discharge lamp lighting device of the fifth aspect of the present invention, the power supplied to the discharge lamp is obtained by considering the power loss in the inverter circuit in advance based on the input voltage and the input current of the inverter circuit. And high-precision power control can be performed.
