【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a reading device for reading coins, medals, and the like.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As a reading device for reading coins, for example, there is a coin identifying device as described in
[0003]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-9-91485 [0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the above-described conventional technology, after the image information of the coin is stored in the image memory, complicated arithmetic processing is performed, so that it takes time to identify the coin. To increase the processing speed, a high-speed CPU may be used, but the high-speed CPU is expensive. Further, a large-capacity image memory for image capture is also expensive.
[0005]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a reading device capable of reducing processing time and cost.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The reading apparatus according to the present invention includes: an imaging unit configured to image a reading target; a binarizing unit configured to binarize image data of the reading target formed by the imaging unit into first data and second data; When the first data continues for a first predetermined number, the processed data obtained by processing the data is set as the first data, and when the first data is not the first predetermined number, the data is processed. Processing data setting means for setting the processing data obtained by the processing to the second data, and a width for obtaining the width of the reading object by integrating the number of second data in the processing data set by the processing data setting means And a calculating means.
[0007]
In such a reading apparatus, for example, when a coin is to be identified, first, image data of the coin formed by the imaging means is compared with a predetermined reference value, and first data (for example, “0”) and second data are compared. (For example, “1”). When "0" is the first predetermined number, the processing data is set to "0". When "0" is not the first predetermined number, the processing data is set to "1". I do. Then, the coin width is obtained by integrating the number of "1" in the processing data. At this time, the coins to be discriminated and the coins not to be discriminated have different processing data patterns set by the processing data setting means, so that the value of the finally obtained coin width is different. A reference value and a first predetermined number are set.
[0008]
By performing the identification of the object to be read in this way, there is no need to perform complicated image processing such as feature extraction. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the time required for the process of identifying the object to be read without using a high-speed CPU. Further, there is no need to load the image data of the object to be read into a large-capacity image memory. As described above, since a high-speed CPU and a large-capacity image memory do not need to be used, cost can be reduced.
[0009]
Preferably, when the previously set processing data is the first data, the processing data setting means performs the processing when the data binarized by the binarizing means is the second predetermined number of consecutive second data. When the data is set to the second data, and the previously set processing data is the second data, the first predetermined number of successively binarized data by the binarization means is the first data, The processing data is set to the first data.
[0010]
For example, when the previously set processing data is “0”, the processing data is set to “1” when the binarized data is “1” for the second predetermined number of consecutive times, otherwise the processing data is set to “1”. Is set to “0”. If the previously set processing data is "1", the processing data is set to "0" if the binary data is "0" for the first predetermined number of consecutive times, otherwise the processing data is set to "0". Is set to “1”. In other words, if the previously set processing data is “0”, the processing data is set to “0” even if the binarized data is “1” and if the “1” does not continue for the second predetermined number. Is done. Therefore, for example, even if dust or the like attached to the imaging surface is imaged and the binarized data instantaneously becomes “1”, it is ignored unless the “1” continues for a second predetermined number. Therefore, erroneous recognition of dust or the like as a part of the reading target is prevented.
[0011]
In this case, preferably, the width calculating means integrates the number of the second data set by the processing data setting means with a value obtained by subtracting the first predetermined number from the second predetermined number as an initial value. The processing data setting means sets the processing data by checking the continuity of the first data and the second data. Therefore, the width of the object to be read obtained from the number of the second data set by the processing data setting means is set. May be slightly different from the actual width of the object to be read. Therefore, by setting the initial value as described above and integrating the number of the second data, the width of the object to be read can be obtained as a substantially accurate value. This is particularly advantageous in identifying small-diameter reading objects.
[0012]
Preferably, the processing data setting means performs processing by changing the first predetermined number of values according to the area of the object to be read. This makes it possible to further clarify the difference in the pattern of the processing data set by the processing data setting means between the object to be read and an object similar to the object, thereby making it easier to identify the object to be read. .
[0013]
At this time, preferably, the first predetermined number of values differs between the process corresponding to the center of the read target and the process corresponding to the end of the read target. In this case, for example, a difference in the pattern of the processing data set by the processing data setting means between the 500 yen coin and the 500 won coin having the same diameter can be sufficiently obtained.
[0014]
Further preferably, the apparatus further includes a determination unit that determines the type and authenticity of the read target based on the width data of the read target obtained by the width calculation unit. Accordingly, not only the reading of the width of the reading object but also the determination of the type and the authenticity of the reading object are automatically performed, so that the burden on the user or the like can be reduced.
[0015]

Next, it is determined whether the previously set processing data is "0" (step 64). At this time, if the previously set processing data is "0", it is determined whether or not k binary data is "1" consecutively (step 65). If k binary data are "1" consecutively, the processing data is set to "1" (step 66); otherwise, the processing data is set to "0" (step 67). .

Next, it is determined whether or not the processing data has changed from “0” to “1” (step 71). When the processing data has changed from “0” to “1”, the counter value (initial value) is changed to “1”. km ”(procedure 72). Then, the counter is reset, and counting of the number of continuous "1" in the processing data is started (step 73).

Next, it is determined whether setting of processing data has been completed for all image data of one scanning line (step 78). At this time, when it is determined that the setting of the processing data for all the image data has not been completed yet, the timing of changing the value of m, that is, from the processing of the portion corresponding to the peripheral portion of the

Further, since the processing data is set in view of the continuity of “0” and “1”, if the value of k and the value of m are different, the continuous “1” in the processing data May differ from the number of “1” corresponding to the coin width. On the other hand, in the present processing, after the value of the counter is set to “km” in the above-described

FIG. 7 shows an example of the binarized data and the processed data. The value of k is set to “2” and the value of m is set to “4”. At this time, after the value of the counter is set to “−2 (km)”, the number of “1” in the processing data is counted. Therefore, even if the number of “1” in the processing data is 22, Regardless, the count number of “1” is 20, which matches the number of “1” corresponding to the coin width.
[0035]
Returning to FIG. 3, the above-described coin width calculation processing is executed for all scan lines (procedure 51), and a distribution of coin width data for each scan line (see FIG. 9) is generated. Then, the denomination and authenticity of the

Next, a description will be given by comparing the state when the 500 yen coin and the 500 won coin are discriminated by the
[0038]
First, image analog data as shown in FIG. 8A is obtained by A / D converting image analog data of a 500 yen coin. Here, FIG. 8 (a) shows the image data in the scanning line L y of 500 yen coin image I y shown in Figure 6 (a). The vertical axis in FIG. 8A indicates the black and white level, and the region where the white level is high is a portion corresponding to a 500 yen coin.
[0039]
By comparing such image data with a binarization threshold, binarized data as shown in FIG. 8B is obtained. Then, by performing the processes of
[0040]
At this time, when the binary data shown in FIG. 8B changes from “0” to “1”, the “1” always continues for k or more times and changes from “1” to “0”. Even if it changes, the “0” does not continue more than m times. Accordingly, as shown in FIG. 8C, the processing data obtained from the binarized data has only one “1” pulse.
[0041]
Then, by counting the number of "1" in such a process the data, the coin width is obtained in the scanning line L y of 500 yen coin image I y.
[0042]
Calculation of the coin width as described above is performed for all the scanning lines L y of 500 yen coin image I y. As a result, a distribution of coin width data for each scanning line as shown in FIG. 9 is obtained. Note that the vertical axis in FIG. 9 indicates a scan line corresponding to the 500-yen coin image Iy, and the horizontal axis in FIG. 9 indicates a coin width in each scan line. As can be seen from FIG. 9, although some data is missing in the coin width data in the scan line passing through the center of the 500 yen coin, the coin width changes almost properly according to each scan line.
[0043]
On the other hand, image digital data as shown in FIG. 10A is obtained by A / D converting image analog data of a 500 won coin. Here, FIG. 10 (a) shows the image data in the scanning line L w of 500 won coin image I w shown in Figure 6 (b).
[0044]
By comparing such image data with the binarization threshold, binarized data as shown in FIG. 10B is obtained. Then, by performing the processes of
[0045]
At this time, in the binarized data shown in FIG. 10B, when changing from “0” to “1”, there is a portion where “1” does not continue k times or more, and “1” changes to “0”. ”, There is a portion where“ 0 ”continues for m or more. Accordingly, as shown in FIG. 10C, the processing data obtained from the binarized data has a plurality of “1” pulses due to missing data of “1”.
[0046]
Then, by counting the number of "1" in such a process the data, the coin width is obtained in the scanning line L w of 500 won coin image I w. In this case, among the plurality of "1" pulses, for example, counting the number of finally obtained "1" pulse is selected as the coin width in the scanning line L w.
[0047]
By performing all of the scanning lines L w of 500 won coin image I w of the calculation of the coin width as described above, the distribution of the coin width data of the scan lines each, as shown in FIG. 11 is obtained. As can be seen from FIG. 11, data omission has occurred in most of the coin width data in the scan line passing through the center of the 500 won coin. Further, the maximum value of the coin width is smaller than the maximum value of the coin width of the 500-yen coin shown in FIG.
[0048]
As described above, since the distribution of the coin width data for each scanning line is completely different between the 500 yen coin and the 500 won coin, it is possible to reliably discriminate between the 500 yen coin and the 500 won coin.
[0049]
As described above, in the present embodiment, processing data corresponding to the predetermined continuity of “0” and “1” in the binary data is generated, and the width of the
[0050]
Note that the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment. For example, in the above embodiment, the coin width data is obtained by counting the number of “1” in the processing data, but “0” and “1” in the processing data are inverted by inverting the data “0” and “1”. May be counted.

In addition, although the

【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, when the first data continues for a first predetermined number, this processed data is set as the first data, and the first data continues for a first predetermined number. If not, the processed data obtained by processing the data is set as the second data, and the number of the second data is integrated to obtain the width of the object to be read. It can be done at low cost.
