Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disk device, and more particularly to changing the rotation speed of a disk by radially divided zones to control the disk speed at a constant linear velocity or a substantially linear velocity, and changing a servo band or a servo gain depending on the zone. The present invention relates to an optical disk device that performs recording and reproduction by performing the above operation.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as rotation control of an optical disk device, an optical disk device whose rotation is controlled at a constant linear velocity (CLV) or a disk is divided into a plurality of zones in a radial direction and the number of rotations is controlled for each zone. 2. Description of the Related Art There is known an optical disc device that rotates at a substantially constant linear velocity (MCLV: Modified CLV).
[0003]
Further, in recent years, an optical disk apparatus for rotating a sample servo optical disk using a disk in which clock marks and wobble marks are previously recorded at a fixed number per track radially from the center of the disk at a substantially constant linear velocity (MCLV) has begun to be devised. .
[0004]
As described above, in the optical disk device that rotates at a substantially constant linear velocity (MCLV), as the rotational speed of the disk increases, the surface deflection or eccentric acceleration of the disk also increases. Therefore, the servo band required for the servo system to always operate stably differs depending on the number of rotations of the disk. In order to suppress wasteful power consumption, it is desirable to change the servo band according to the number of rotations of the disk.
[0005]
FIG. 6 shows a block diagram of an optical disk apparatus that rotates at a substantially constant linear velocity (MCLV) and changes the servo band according to the number of rotations. In FIG. 6, 1 is an optical disk, 2 is a pickup (including known components such as a laser, an optical sensor, a focus actuator, and a track actuator), 3 is a detection circuit, 4 is a focus error generation circuit, 5 is an AD converter, 6 Is a focus phase compensation circuit, 7 is a focus gain circuit, 8 is a focus actuator PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) driver, 9 is a tracking error generation circuit, 10 is an AD converter, 11 is a tracking phase compensation circuit, 12 is a tracking gain circuit, 13 is a track actuator PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) driver, 14 is a clock detection circuit, 15 is a spindle, 16 is a spindle control circuit, 17 is a driver (spindle driver), and 18 is a control. It is a ruler.
[0006]
The optical disk 1 is composed of a sample servo optical disk on which clock marks and wobble marks are recorded radially from the center of the disk, and clock marks and wobble marks are previously recorded in 1280 sample servo areas per track.

The optical disk 1 is irradiated with light emitted from a laser (not shown) in the

In the above optical disk device, when the zone of the optical disk 1 changes, the servo gain of the focus or tracking servo suitable for the zone at that time is set in the
[0014]
In the case of an MCLV optical disk apparatus using a sample servo optical disk as the optical disk 1, the amount of disturbance in the focus servo and the tracking servo increases as the inner peripheral side of the optical disk 1 increases, that is, as the rotation frequency increases. The frequency component also increases. Therefore, in the case of the optical disk device as described above, the servo zone is set so that the servo gain is higher and the servo band is wider in the zone on the inner peripheral side.
[0015]
As described above, according to the prior art, in the CLV or MCLV optical disk apparatus, the servo band and the servo gain are set to the focus or tracking servo for each zone in consideration of the amount of disturbance expected for each zone obtained by dividing the optical disk 1 in the radial direction. By doing so, unnecessary power consumption is suppressed, and the servo system can always perform stable operation.
[0016]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In an optical disk device, the components of a servo system, such as an actuator, have individual differences in characteristics or change in characteristics due to aging or temperature change.
[0017]
In the above-described optical disk device, the servo gain set for each zone is set to a value such that the servo loop has sufficient accuracy with respect to the disturbance amount expected for each zone. However, as described above, the characteristics of the elements constituting the servo system of the optical disk device vary. If the servo gain becomes lower than the expected value due to the change in this characteristic, the residual error of the servo loop cannot be suppressed to the required accuracy or more, so that sufficient accuracy cannot be obtained or the servo gain is expected. If it is higher than the value, unnecessary power consumption occurs.
[0018]
Particularly when the rotation speed is low, that is, when the servo gain is shifted to a low value when the servo gain is set low, the accuracy of the servo system is greatly affected. Further, when the rotation speed is high, that is, when the servo gain is shifted to a high value when the servo gain is set high, unnecessary power consumption is large. If the servo gain deviates from the expected value, the operation of the servo system becomes unstable in the worst case.
[0019]
In order to solve such a problem of the prior art, the present invention provides an optical disc apparatus that sets a servo band and a servo gain suitable for each zone. In an optical disc apparatus, focus and tracking servo always set an appropriate servo gain in all zones of the optical disc. And to enable stable operation.
[0020]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, according to the present invention, an optical disk in which a recording or reproducing area is zoned according to a radial position is controlled by a light spot while controlling the rotation so that the linear velocity is substantially constant between zones. In an optical disc apparatus for recording or reproducing information, a rotation control means for controlling rotation of the optical disc, a servo control means for performing focusing servo control and tracking servo control of the light spot on the optical disc, and the focusing servo control and tracking servo Servo gain switching means for switching at least one servo gain of control according to a radial position of the optical disc; and servo gain detection for detecting an optimum servo gain value satisfying a predetermined loop transmission characteristic as the servo gain. And means, The servo gain detecting means detects the optimum servo gain in at least one or more zones of the optical disk at the time of servo activation, and detects all the zones of the optical disk based on the detected optimum servo gains in the at least one zone. In which the optimum servo gain is obtained.
[0021]
The servo gain detecting means may detect a servo gain value of another zone of the optical disc by interpolating a servo gain value detected in two or more zones of the optical disc.
[0022]
Further, the servo gain detecting means detects a servo gain in any one zone of the optical disc, and according to the detected servo gain in the one or more zones and a predetermined radial position of the optical disc. The servo gains of other zones may be calculated based on the relationship between the gains.
[0023]

An example of the above complementing method will be described with reference to FIG.

In the graph shown in FIG. 3, the horizontal axis represents the rotation frequency (Hz) of the optical disc 1, and the vertical axis represents the optimum servo gain. First, for example, the optimum servo gain obtained as a result of performing the gain automatic adjustment in the

[0042]
The two types of automatic gain adjustment methods in the present embodiment described above have the following advantages.
[0043]
First, in the method of performing automatic gain adjustment in all zones and setting an optimum servo gain in each zone, the following advantages can be obtained.
[0044]
That is, when determining the design value of the servo gain before performing the automatic gain adjustment, it is assumed that among the components of the servo system, the characteristic of the actuator is a transfer function of a second-order delay. However, the actual characteristic has a deviation from the transfer function of the second-order delay. Therefore, the deviation from the originally desired gain in the gain characteristic of the servo system in each zone is not strictly uniform. Therefore, in the method of performing the automatic gain adjustment in all the zones, the optimum servo gain in each zone can be set, and the stable operation of the servo system can be expected, as compared with the method of complementing the result of the automatic gain adjustment in a plurality of zones.
[0045]
Further, in the method of complementing the results of the automatic gain adjustment in a plurality of zones, even if the characteristics of the actuator deviate from the transfer function of the second-order lag as described above, the influence cannot be reduced. It is possible to set the optimum servo gain in all the zones in a shorter time than the method of performing the automatic gain adjustment in all the zones.
[0046]
Therefore, according to the present embodiment, in the optical disk device in which the rotation frequency, the sampling frequency, the servo band, or the servo gain are changed by the zones divided in the radial direction of the optical disk, all the zones are activated when the servo is started. Of these, a gain automatic adjustment process is performed in a plurality of zones or all zones, and an appropriate servo gain is set in each zone, whereby stable operation of the servo system can be expected in all zones.
(Second embodiment)
FIG. 4 is a block diagram of the second embodiment of the present invention. 4, a

Thereafter, when the zone changes during recording or reproduction, the
[0049]
Here, a method of calculating an appropriate servo gain in a zone in which automatic gain adjustment is not performed will be described. First, the number of revolutions of the optical disc 1 is changed by a zone divided in the radial direction so as to be controlled at a constant or substantially constant linear velocity, and recording is performed by changing a sampling frequency and a servo band or a servo gain depending on the zone. FIG. 5 shows the relationship between the servo gain and the rotation frequency of the optical disk 1 in the optical disk device that performs the reproduction.
[0050]
The relationship between the rotation frequency of the optical disc 1 and the servo gain in FIG. 5 is expressed by the following expression.
[0051]
(Equation 1)
In the above equation, G is the servo gain in any zone, G std Is the servo gain of the reference zone (eg, zone 0), f rot Is the rotation frequency of the optical disc 1 in an arbitrary zone, f std Is the rotation frequency of the optical disc 1 in a reference zone (for example, zone 0). According to this, if the servo gain of a certain zone is known, the servo gains of all other zones can be calculated.
[0052]
Here, in the optical disk device as described above, when a deviation occurs in the servo gain, it is assumed that the deviation occurs substantially uniformly in all zones as shown in FIG. In this case, the gain is automatically adjusted when the servo system is started using the above equation, and the servo gain set at that time is set to G std And the rotation frequency of the optical disc 1 in the zone where the automatic adjustment is performed is f std When the zone changes during recording or reproduction, the rotation frequency of the optical disk 1 in the destination zone is changed to the rotation frequency f of the optical disk 1 in the destination zone. rot Then, these G std , F std , F rot By substituting into the above equation, an appropriate servo gain of the destination zone can be calculated. The gain calculated here is based on the servo gain as a result of the automatic gain adjustment performed when the servo is started.
[0053]
By using the result of the automatic gain adjustment performed at the time of starting the servo and the above equation, the automatic gain adjustment is not performed even if the zone changes during recording or reproduction, and the appropriate servo gain of all the zones can be obtained in a short time. Can be set.
[0054]
Therefore, according to the present embodiment, the gain is automatically adjusted at the time of starting the servo, and when the zone changes thereafter, the servo gain of the movement destination is calculated based on the result of the automatic gain adjustment, so that an appropriate servo gain is always obtained. Can be set.
[0055]
That is, the gain is automatically adjusted in the zone where the pickup is located when the servo is started, and based on the result of the automatic gain adjustment, the servo gains of the other zones are calculated and set. Can be set.
[0056]
The embodiments of the present invention have been described above. Preferred embodiments of the present invention are listed below.

[0057]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the rotation speed of the optical disk is changed by the zones divided in the radial direction so as to be controlled at a constant linear velocity or a substantially constant linear velocity, and the servo band or the servo gain is controlled by the zones. In an optical disk device that performs recording and reproduction by changing the value of, the gain is automatically adjusted in at least one or more zones, and the result is complemented to set the servo gain in the zone where the automatic gain adjustment is not performed, so that the servo is always adjusted. The system can perform stable control. If the gain is automatically adjusted in all zones, more stable operation can be expected.
